    Diet Coke . . .

I usually pour it over ice and let it sit for a few minutes before I drink it. I have had no problems and drink it every once in a while but I just dont really have the taste for it any longer... Its just not as good as it used to be!

    Divorce and the band

For sure do the band first! I had my surgery April of 2008 and about two weeks after I had found out my husband had cheated on me with my cousin who was living with us at the time. I was so upset and my weight would have skyrocketed if I had not had the surgery before I found out. If I found out before hand I would have been so depressed I may have cancelled. Its a long difficult road.... but be strong, you will make it through just fine.

    Does anybody NOT throw up?

I have been banded since April and have not thrown up once and believe me I was scared thinking I would. I let my doctor know and they took care of me with anti nausea medication. I was feeling nauseated the day after surgery but I drank some hot peppermint tea and have had no nausea since! Except when I overeat that is!
  4. I was banded in April of this year......... the past few days I am having left shoulder/back/chest pain.... its not terrible pain but its enough to keep me uncomfortable non stop. I am wondering if this pain could mean that my band is too tight? I am having PMS right now and wondering if that has anything to do with the pain? I have heard that the band is tighter during TOM but I am wondering if a tight band can cause the pain in my shoulder and back? I have had two fills and a total of 3.5 CC's in my 9 CC band. Thanks

Any other banders in 20's-30's in Az

I agree. We should set something up in the Phoenix, Glendale area. I would love to meet some new people with the band! Please let me know if you guys are interested and I will try and come up with something.... we could have our own little support group maybe once a month? What do you guys say? :scared2: Jen
  6. I haven't posted in a while.... I feel like I need support now more than ever. I was banded April of 2008 and have been doing really well. I have lost about 47 pounds so far. (Yeah me) I have been married almost 13 years and have a wonderful 12 yr old son. I just found out a few weeks ago that my husband had an affair with one of my closest relatives. I am devistated to say the least. I never thought I had to worry about this with him. The worst part of it is that I had taken in my cousin as she was having problems and I was trying to help her out. I completely trusted both of them... they were the two closest people in my lives. My world has been shaken and turned upside down. The affair happened two years ago according to them but last month while she was in my home there was kissing going on between them while my son was home and I was at work. My cousin decided to call me at work and confess.... I was in total shock and denial. I have been getting counseling from the doctor who did my psych eval and that has been helping a great deal. I have been really doing some soul searching and have decided to end my relationship and have started looking into a divorce. My husband says he soooo sorry and he would never do it again. He told me he was on drugs at the time and they were affecting his decision making. (the drugs were another suprise!) I am trying to do the best that I can but something in me just wants to eat and eat to comfort myself. I am having a hard time finding things to fill my time since I cannot eat like I used to. I am scared to be alone, I am scared that I will never find another relationship... I am scared that no one will want me because of my weight.... I am just having real self esteem issues right now. I have been with my husband for so long I just dont know if I can do it on my own.... I have never lived alone before. Well, sorry for rambling, I just needed to get this off my chest!

I never thought it would happen to me.....

Thank you all for your wonderful support... it means a lot to me. Cota, I am so sorry... I know what your going thru and it is really painful. If you ever need to talk just PM me. I thought I was holding it together pretty well but have been crying the past two days. I am going tomorrow to file my divorce papers. I started packing yesterday and I think that is when it really became reality for me. Its tough but I think once I get out on my own it will hopefully not be so painful. I saw my therapist today and he suggested a divorce support group so I can talk to others going thru the same things, he also suggested a church in my area that I am planning on looking into for my son and I to meet some new friends. Again, thank all of you for the support, suggestions and websites to check out. It really means a lot to me.

I never thought it would happen to me.....

Thanks Armywife.... I really appreciate the words of encouragement...it means a lot. Sometimes I feel really confident that I can do this and other times I am scared to death! Its like a daily roller coaster ride. One day at a time I guess

    Anyone banded in phoenix area?

I could use a buddy! I was banded in April of 08. I have so far lost about 47lbs. I have been having difficulties lately getting ready to face a divorce.... having problems staying focused on myself and my diet. I am an emotional eater and feel like all I want to do is sit and eat. It would be nice to have someone near for support!

    Realize band...first fill...how much...

I had my first fill today and I have the Realize band..... My doctor put in 2cc's.... She tried to put 3 but that was too much for me. I was told that the usual for the first fill is around 4cc's. It all depends on the person... some people still have good restriction when they go for their first fill. Good Luck.....
  12. I was banded about 4 weeks ago and yesterday broke down and had a sundae from Baskin Robbins..... I have done well the whole month and lost about 30 lbs so far. About two hours after eating it I got very sick to my stomach from all the sugar. I am pretty sure I wont be doing that again ..lol.... I also was having pretty severe PMS and craving sugar. I wouldnt beat yourself up over it.... just get back on track and follow your doctors post op diet.... especially so soon after being banded. Its a learning experience for all of us. Just realize that eventually you will be able to have a little ice cream here and there but in moderation. When I think of it that way I dont crave it so bad. I also go for the sugar free chocolate jello and its only about 60 cal per serving...that usually will take care of my craving too.....Good luck on just being banded.... so far I really love mine!

    Switching Addictions

I am having my surgery next month on the 18th.... as part of my preop I had to do a psych eval .... one thing the Doctor asked me about is if I thought I might switch addictions after my surgery as I will not be able to eat out of stress and boredom any longer.... I know this is an area of debate but there is not much info out there about switching addictions after weight loss surgery. I have heard some stories but wonder if anyone has any input on this subject?

I need a Dr in AZ

I used Dr Robin Blackstone in Scottsdale..... she was wonderful...I was banded a little over three weeks ago and would not have changed doctors for anything.
  15. I was told to take two bites of protein then one bite of fruit or veg that way I dont just fill up on all protein before I get thru the whole meal.
  16. Just make sure you check with your doctor when you talk about your post op diet. I am not allowed coffee for 5-6 weeks. I was only banded two weeks ago and I am dying for a cup with half and half!
  17. I was banded on April 18th and so far I have lost about 20lbs with no preop diet.

    Headache, weak spells

Sgt Bob... you read my mind!!! Peanut butter cup all the way!!!!!!!!
  19. Hi All; I was banded on Friday 4/18 and have been doing fairly well.... Today is my first day on mushy Proteins and I have been getting food down with no problems. My question is...today I had a really bad weak spell with sweating, nausea and a headache. I felt like I was going to faint so I had to lay down for a few minutes. I ate something with a bit of sugar (just a bite) and felt fine for hours and now the feeling is coming back. I dont want to keep looking for things with sugar because I am not hungry. I go the doctor for a follow up on Thursday but I was wondering if anyone has had the same issues? Its kind of like sugar/carb withdrawl... is this normal? Thank you

I am so greatful to have found these boards because I feel so much more prepared now. I have been waiting months for surgery and it seems to have just flown by ..I cant believe that tomorrow I am starting a new life. Wish me luck

    Headache, weak spells

Thanks Georgia Girl..........I will up my Water intake.... I am following my Doctors orders as far as eating goes...I should have phrased it as it shows in the book as "soft proteins"..(no mushy stage).. but I did take everything off my list of approved foods.... Its just liqued for four days including surgery day and then on the fifth day thru week 5/6 its all soft Proteins. I have been reading my book over and over to make sure I am not doing anything against plans.... I was kind of suprised too after reading the boards and seeing how long people are on liqueds for...but so far no problems except for feeling really weak.
