I have no experience with changing surgeons, but I would share...if you're feeling that way now, imagine how that would translate if there was a medical complication or some unforeseen issue-if they're not making you feel heard now-when you're fully healthy, it would only be worse in the midst of an issue when you're not feeling your personal best. I do understand how much of a pain this could be but I'd have to think the approval process was about you, and what you needed to do-not dependent upon the surgeon you picked. Those are insurance protocols; regardless of the physician. I'd contact them and see what this switch could entail. I'd also canvass people in your area that had an amazing surgeon. I delayed my procedure until I felt like I found the right match-its a courting process, lol, of sorts-he took time with me, answered every question, I had two pre-op consults because I started thinking sleeve but later switched to RNY. He empowered me to pick the surgery based on his experience and feedback. The way he treated me preoperatively was the same way he treated me all the way though. Trust your gut! First, congratulations on this milestone. It's easy to tell from your post how in tune you are with the feelings that accompany a large weight loss. I hope you revel everyday. There's something to going beyond just acknowledging the number, but rather feeling that weight loss through your experiences like shopping, concerts, travel, etc. I think it allows for a deeper mind/body connection. Second, I also went to Colorado, NM-for the international Balloon Fiesta, and AZ to see the Grand Canyon. It was a spiritual experience. Granted it was early in my journey but I too had lost enough that there was no doubt I could walk and move in a way I hadn't since adolescence. I think the real question is: What's prompting you to contemplate not following the plan-regardless of how "healthy" you describe the meal. You've started a long journey, that will necessitate many changes and choices. You can always chose to do what you want, but it speaks to not honoring & valuing yourself and your best interest. I encourage you to stay the course and wake up tomorrow feeling a resounding pride in forging ahead to the new life that waiting for you. If it were me, I'd fear today's Monogolian BBQ, is tomorrow's McDonald's. It's a slippery slope and your days away from surgery-you can do it! Chipping away at the program, thinking you know better, minimizing consequences are all code for a lack of faith in the bigger picture. I definitely am committed, I'm so glad that I was mentally prepared, found the surgeon I did-but I've constructed a program so that I'm insulated from negativity (both internal and external).
