  1. Sunny, I originally swam. Then started on a treadmill. Eventually I transitioned to walking exclusively and worked up to 5 miles a day. I didn't want to be gym obsessed and the agreement with myself was: exercise 7 days a week (occasionally I'd take a day off but no more than once every 7 days) and whatever I did had to be completed in an hour.

  2. Jess,

I completely understand where you're coming from. It is all about redefining the relationship with food. Truly, I've learned to use food properly. I acknowledge there's a choice everyday, every meal, every bite. I, too, saw this as a tool. I waited so that when I did this, I could commit not for the short-term, but the long-term. This certainly is no diet. And as cliche as it sounds, it is a lifestyle shift. There's no exit ramp here.

The beauty is reaching a point where the benefits far exceed any longing for days past-and I had them. But now, I'd never trade the life I have for anything. I think sometimes people don't reach that threshold before they start to give up or revert to former ways of eating. I've kept strict perimeters, but I eat a balanced diet.

I'm glad you found inspiration. It's still hard for me to fully process this 500 lb. person now lives in the 180's, can walk 5 miles at a time, enjoys flying, being active, etc.

So, yes! All the changes have lead me not to become someone else, but to explore new facets of myself that I didn't know were there.

I've enjoyed messaging and talking to people here. We certainly don't experience the same journey but it's nice to connect with one another! Support is crucial!!

    Be well,

    Daniel
