  1. I feel like my stomach is ridiculously too small. I'm a month post sleeve and I'm full literally after 4 bites maximum. I don't know how I'm suppose to get my Protein in when I eat so little. I'm lactose intolerant now so I can't drink my usual Protein shakes so my nutritionist recommended I try a soy based one. I found one but it's 11oz for 20g of protein. I find I can only drink 5 Oz and that's me sipping on it all day in between drinking Water. I made a hard boiled egg today for breakfast. It took 20 minutes to eat a quarter of it. I had chicken for lunch and again took 3 bites and was full, didn't even bother trying to eat my broccoli. I'm chewing slowly and not drinking 20 minutes before and after. Does anybody else feel like this? I must admit I'm starting to get annoyed by it. Granted I have lost 27lbs in one month but still I really want to eat. 2. I didn't say it was his fault I just mean he wasn't really worried about me having protein shakes once I told him my issue. Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App
  3. Yeah my surgeon is a jerk but he was the closet one that was in network so I was stuck with him. He also was indifferent when I told him I wasn't getting in my Protein shakes. He said don't worry about it but everyone else is so stuck on getting in the protein. The reason I'm kind of fed up with them is because it took a few different Protein Shakes to find one that wasn't too milky or too gritty. I loved the Premier Protein shakes before surgery now I think I'm lactose intolerant because when I drink them now I get bad diarrhea, stomach cramps or I end up throwing them up. So I tried to find some other ones with no milk but they only have the powder ones which I'm not sure how to make. Mixing it with just Water seems disgusting so I'll take the one person advise that said to mix it with sugar free pudding and give that a shot. I think pudding has milk in it though so not sure how that'll work. My nutritionist said don't give up dairy all together just try small amounts but honestly when I was drinking those shakes and it was going straight through me I almost got dehydrated so I'm a little weary of trying it again. 4. Yup he's pretty strict. He told me no fruit! I said that's not possible for me. Then he gave me a whole speech about the sugar content in fruit and that's why children are obese and blah blah blah. I'm just like whatever I'm going to have fruit as soon as I get my weight control. Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App
  5. Sleeve and pouch were interchangeable I thought. Nonetheless I'm eating pretty slow and I use the small spoon at home but today I was at work on my 30 minute lunch in the break room so I didn't want to break out my toddler spoon and have people asking a bunch of questions. My doctor has me on soft foods not so much pureed. I had chicken salad so it's pretty mushy. And my broccoli was overcooked and mushy too. I take my Vitamins but really kind of over the Protein shakes. I was hoping to just get the protein from food but that's not looking too good either. He strongly advises against yogurt because of the sugar content, pretty much he said "no sloppy foods" like oatmeal, yogurt, and mashed potatoes, that don't really contain a lot of nutritional value. 6. I drank premier Protein shakes prior to surgery with no problem. Now post surgery they do not go well with my stomach. For me it gives me diarrhea, nausea and stomach cramps. I tried it several different times with all the same results. My doctor said sometimes people become lactose intolerant after surgery. I'm now trying another one that claims it's lactose free but it says it contains mill so now sure how I'm going to react to this one. Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App
  7. Lucky you!! How much weight have you lost, if you don't mind me asking? I know we aren't suppose to focus on the scale number but I'm averaging about a pound a day. I feel it's all in my face and not my body lol. I guess I need to just be patient it'll be easier when I notice differences in my size clothing though. I forgot to weigh myself the day of my surgery so the closet starting weight I have is that week before I was 221. Now I'm down to 207. When I first started the program 4 months ago I was at 237 but lost the first 16lbs on my own just by limiting my carbs and sugar. Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App
  8. I'm actually doing pretty well. I had my sleeve done 4/26. I'm on a full liquid diet for 21 days and it's only day 8 for me. I gotta tell ya I'm pretty over liquids already. I drink half a protein shake for breakfast, soup for lunch and the other half of the protein shake for dinner. I'm suppose to get 2 protein shakes a day but it's hard. Started taking chewable vitamins so that's helping with my energy. Haven't really started working out yet just catching up to chores around the house. Um let's see what else. My bandages started falling off well 2 out of 4 of the incision sites. I'm pretty surprised at how small the scar is but guess that's a plus. I'm really just trying to hang in there. I had someone ask me if I'm losing weight they said my face seemed slimmer. Was pretty excited about that I just replied I'm trying, with a smile. Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App

    Day 6 Post Op

I can't eat puree food until day 21! This is so ridiculous I'm over liquids and I'm only on day 6. Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App
  12. What brand of Protein powder? Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App
  13. Are you taking your Vitamins daily that could be a big contributor. Also are you getting in enough Protein? Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App
  14. Never had a drain either. I was going to write something but the two people above stated everything. The worst pain is gas pains and trying to swallow. I'm almost a week post op and it still hurts to swallow. Then again he did a large hiatal hernia repair in addition to the sleeve so that may be why my esophagus is still sore. 15. I'm on a 3 week liquid diet and I'm also only 1 week post op! I had my follow up appointment today and we talked about now I'm on a full liquid diet which is no different from a clear liquid diet except now I can have a Protein shake. I even asked about sugar free pudding and he said no because a lot of people have milk intolerance after surgery and I shouldn't risk vomiting or any other discomfort. Then I asked about applesauce and he said no too much sugar. Lastly I asked about liquidy oatmeal and he said no too many carbs. I'm just like what the hell this is going to be a nightmare. My doctor also advised I shouldn't have fruit period, like ever, due to the amount of natural sugar in fruit. I'm trying to be optimistic but I don't want to fail because of all these restrictions. 16. I'm sorry to hear that Brenda. Why was it denied? Alot of the times it takes a few submissions before it's approved. Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App
  17. I've heard that preparing meals at home and bringing them to work for lunch works much better than trying to find something on the fly. I've been looking at great recipes online if you Google bariatric eating. I have a driving job so I never know where I'm going to be at lunch time so I definitely will have to bring something from home. Most recipes are as simple as having the previous nights leftovers which I'm sure you'll have a lot of leftovers with a small eating capacity or you can make something new to take to work. Snacking?

My surgeon also advised against snacking. He insists that 3 meals will be more than enough to keep me full if they are Protein focused. I'm still on my post op liquid diet but on my instructions packet says about 3 times no snacking. I assumed I wouldn't be hungry between meals. Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App

    Over emotional

Hey I had mine done on the 26th and I feel the same way! I have a craving to eat but not really hungry. I even dream about food. I feel like such a fattie. I'm getting tired of all the liquids but wouldn't dare try to eat anything as its still pretty sore swallowing. Does you doctor have you on 2 weeks liquid diet post op? My instructions say not to try puree food until the end of week 3. I've been seeing some people post they ate pureed food in the second week. I don't want to chance it but was just curious if my doctor is being overly cautious. Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App
  20. Yes that's right. I had been working on weight loss for a while and was in the process of getting approved for the sleeve when my pcp said to take out my IUD birth control as she contributed my sudden weight gain to the hormones in it as one last thing to try before WLS. Yeah well within a month I was pregnant. I had completed practically all the requirements before getting pregnant so the doctor said if everything went well with delivery I was OK to get it at 2 months post birth. I'm so glad I had a smooth natural delivery. I'm still on maternity leave from work so I'll get another month to recover from the sleeve. I don't have to come back to work them take off again in a few months so it worked out really well. Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App
  21. I'm only 5 days post op of the sleeve but already the reality of dealing with things is starting to make me feel overwhelmed. Whenever I got stresses about bills or anything in general I would eat to feel better. Now that I'm trying to change that I'm having a hard time dealing with stress head on. Most people say exercise but any other suggestions? Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App
  22. I have a 2 month old and an almost 2 year old and I was fine. Granted my mom took off the 3 days post op to help out. Lifting my 20 month old was pretty impossible but I was able to work around it. You'll be fine. Let us know how you do! Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App
  23. I have United Healthcare as well and it took about a week for them to review it. It usually just depends on how busy they are. Give that you posted this on 4.22.16 I'm assuming they got back to you? Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App
  24. I feel the same way too. I have a 2 month old and an almost 2 year old so I was rushing to get home. Now it's even harder. Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App
  25. Hey I'm 4 days post op and having a hard time with liquids as it hurts to swallow. I found that drinking through a straw is much easier. Also I tried crystal light mixed with my Water and it was easier to drink than straight water. Lastly I used to love ice cold water but now I found I can tolerant warm or room temp water much better on my stomach. Honestly I'm over the whole plain water thing aleady. I tried tea yesterday but without sugar or honey it was pretty gross. Today my mom bought me a Frappuccino from Starbucks with fat free milk, sugar free syrup and no whip cream and I was able to drink half of a small size. Now that I think about it I'm not sure I should've had that since milk wasn't on my post op guidelines until day 7. this is definitely tough. I'm not quite hungry yet I just keep walking in the kitchen as more of a habit than me being hungry. Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App
