  1. I had very fine hair before surgery, and since my surgery I've had significant hair loss (I'm 5 months post-op). I have a national TV interview in October that I really need to look my best for, and I was wondering if anyone had experience with using hair extensions with their post surgery hair loss... What kind (clip in, tape, glue, sewn in) did you try? Did you like it? Did they cause extra damage/fallout? Thanks! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N930A using the BariatricPal App

    Hair Loss and Hair Extensions

I ended up purchasing clips that lock in the hair extensions, so I can reuse the clips with different extensions. I have wefts that I leave curled and wefts that I leave straight. They'e easy to switch out, and I'm not locked into that color because the clips are removable. Here is the link to the clips I purchased, and then I just asked the beauty store lady what type of hair to purchase... I suggest not going with synthetic as you can't use hot tools on it. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01LYRCOO9/ref=mp_s_a_1_2_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1518705853&sr=8-2&keywords=selfit-clip&dpPl=1&dpID=51noqMJuKYL&ref=plSrch

    Hair Loss and Hair Extensions

Originally, I had someone sew in 2 wefts, just to give me some volume... I don' recommend that route. It was uncomfortable and even though I was drinking water, I found my scalp was exceptionally dry and irritated from it. I switched to clip in wefts, and I'm much happier now! I can wear them when I want to, and can deep clean my scalp when I need to.

    Hair Loss and Hair Extensions

I was thinking of clip-in wefts, because that would allow me to remove them when I want. It's no different than putting a barrette in your hair. I don't want to use glue or tape, if possible. I did see they have clip-in toppers. My hair is thinning in general all over... Not necessarily balding or bald Patches, so I dint think the fibers would really help. I'm looking to add fullness to my hair. I have an appointment with my hairdresser in a couple of hours. We're going to discuss options. She makes her own clip-in wefts. I knew going into this that I would lose more hair than most. My surgeon told me that if you have fine hair before surgery, typically I could expect more hair loss. I'm already growing back my hair, though! The combination of Biotin, keratin, a boost of Protein intake, adding flax seed daily, and Nioxin has worked wonders... I've got little baby hairs sprouting all over my head! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N930A using the BariatricPal App
  5. It just rained, so humid. Sent from my SM-G930T using Tapatalk I was driving on 130 through Pflugerville when it started to rain so hard I couldn't see a car length in front of me! It's humid, but at least it dropped the temperature! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App

    SEARCHING!

The Oh Yeah! One bars are awesome... Birthday cake and Lemon Cake are my favorite... They're really starting to stomp the competition (mainly Quest). Quest bars tend to feel very heavy in my stomach after I eat (almost makes me feel like I've over eaten). The Oh Yeah! One bars don't sit so heavily in my stomach. 8. Just had to share my 2 month post-op photos! Look at them hips, though! Starting weight was 254. Day of surgery I was 240. Today I am 200. Doctor's goal is 140. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App
  9. I take Nature Made Vitamelts. Even though I can take full size Multivitamins now, I still prefer the vitamelts. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App
  10. Last night, as a treat to my kids who both made A Honor Roll, I ordered pizza and a movie for them... I've been so good about resisting my natural urges to just eat whatever (I'm much more attentive to what I put in my body now). As my boys dug in and enjoyed their ooey-gooey pizza, I had to excuse myself to the bathroom. I closed the door and cried because I couldn't have any pizza, and to me that is the most ridiculous thing I've ever done. I laugh about it now, but I was truly heartbroken last night. lol So, what's your most ridiculous post-op overreaction? Anyone else ever cry over Pizza :-) Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App

I Cried Over Pizza Last Night...

It definitely hit the spot and covered my craving for pizza! I LOVE Hawaiian pizza, so this was a pleasant substitute! Honestly, if you haven't used Pinterest to find post WLS recipes, you're missing out! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App

I Cried Over Pizza Last Night...

I'm 2 weeks out and having similar feelings. Stressed about yard work I can't really do right now. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App You can't have pizza after sleeve? Or you just choose not to? Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App It's too early for me for grease and carbs in that quantity... I have friends that have had the sleeve and they're fine with eating pizza, and I have sleeved friends that have completely sworn off foods like that. It's up to you as an individual to make that decision. I ended up making a crustless pizza (Canadian bacon on the bottom, pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, and pineapple). Favorite "fast foods" redux

A solid choice for me is always the kids' grilled chicken nugget meal from Chick-fil-A! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App
  14. I was sleeved on 4/26/16. I had my 2 week post-op check up today and my surgeon is very pleased with my progress! When I started my pre-op diet I weighed in at 254lbs! The day of my surgery I was 241lbs... Today I weighed in at a ridiculous 220lbs!!! I'm currently wearing a shirt that was previously form fitting/tight, and it's actually fitting the way it's supposed to be! I'm in little to no pain, and I'm tolerating pureed food very well (just started purees today)! I'm feeling truly blessed in my recovery, and I have so many of my family and friends cheering me on and asking for updates! It makes me teary eyed to see how many people care about me and my health! Ok, hormonal moment over! Thanks, y'all! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App
  15. During my pre-op diet I went to a make your own stir fry place and when they asked me which starch I wanted (rice or noodles) I said none - they looked at me crazy. I also went to Arby's during my pre-op diet and ordered roast beef and cheese with no bun, and the kid couldn't figure out how to put it in the register. :-| Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App

    1st stall

I made my husband hide the scale! lol I found myself weighing myself every time I used the bathroom... I finally told my husband to put it somewhere I can't find it, so I could stop fretting over it! lol Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App
  17. I'm 2 weeks post op, and 1 week early (not sure why I didn't realize surgery was going to mess with my cycle)- I have exactly zero cravings right now (but that could be since I'm so soon after surgery). I will say I wish I could take a midol, but my doctor said no. :-( Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App

    Insurance pays for nutritional supplements

There is a company that my nutritionist told me about... He said if I asked my doctor to write a prescription for me, many insurances covered it. It's a mailed prescription service... I'll see if I can find it. However, I found a suitable chewable Multivitamin at Walgreens and Walgreens usually has their Vitamins on a 3 month 'buy one, get one free' rotation. Pregnancy testing

I did not have a pregnancy test... All of my doctors asked me if there was a possibility I was pregnant. My husband and I just laughed (he was "fixed" long before we ever met lol). I told them if I was pregnant we have bigger problems than my obesity - or its immaculate conception! ???? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App

    Rice? Pasta? Bread?

I always have to laugh when I see newbies say "I eat XX and I'm still losing weight!" You can eat Twinkies and wash them down with milkshakes the first 6 months to a year and still lose weight..... That was a little rude. He was just making a comparison between the differences in the suggestions from different countries. I thought the point of BariatricPAL was to be supportive, not critical. 21. Hello! I was just sleeved on 4/26/16, and I am currently looking for a gym buddy! I have a Gold's membership, and can go to any of the Gold's Gyms in Austin and surrounding areas. I'm a stay-at-home mom, so the best time for me to go is during the day after I drop my kids at school. OR If you are scheduled for your surgery and needing to start a pre-op exercise program, I'd love to help motivate you through it! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App

    Just starting

My doctor had me on 30 grams of carbs and minimum 70 grams of Protein. Your veggies are what is going to give you that full feeling. Seasoned broccoli to your heart's content, and hitting that protein goal will definitely help. I found eating my allowed carbs in the morning gave me the energy I needed to get through the day. It's all trial and error. Up your Water intake, too! :-) Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App

    6 months out

To get the maximum out of your Biotin, you need to take it conjunction with keratin. Keratin helps boost your biotin and strengthen your hair. Target sells an excellent biotin with keratin supplement. It's Up & Up brand. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App

    Hit a stall

My exercise physiologist told me she finds people get the best results when they stop weighing themselves constantly. She advised me to pick 1 day a month (I've chosen my surgery date) and routinely weigh/measure/photograph myself. My surgeon has assured me that as long as I stick with the diet plan, my sleeve will do most of the work for me for the first 18 months. You're never 100% sure what is going on inside of your body. If you're on a workout routine, you could be converting more fat to muscle and you could be seeing yourself stall. Trust that your body is doing what it needs.
