  1. Well I'm very glad you didn't buy what she's selling, she's obviously ignorant and uninformed ! People are so stupid . I went in to nutrition world and this Barbie doll looking wanna be in spandex informed me that they don't sell ". GERIATRIC " shakes . I'm pretty sure the word she was looking for is bariatrics and it's a good thing she doesn't work on commission ....

  2. I agree, she said nothing rude or untrue. You maybe didn't like her answer. But it was the truth . You asked a question, got several people that told you it was a bad idea yet you did it anyway. Your pouch, your life, your journey! But she was telling you the truth and if you didn't want advice you should have just drank the coke without asking advice about it. You did not receive 1 reply that said heck yea that sounds safe !

  3. I'm sorry that your life has thrown you so many curve balls. You were given an opportunity some are often denied , so use your tool. You won't be able to get it together if you don't get it together! Also, I won't get into details but I will say, I understand hard life and the school of hard knocks, I also know how it feels to lose yourself and disconnect. Maybe it will help to start focusing on the blessings in your life and when you think of a sad thing, try to flip it around and find the good in it. I'd first see your surgeon and explain that you do. It feel satisfied with the tiny appropriate sizes that you should be eating, also, it is hard to give up sugar but if you wa t to have a different result , you have to make the changes. Oh how I wish someone could take my food loving mind, but only I can do that . We are totally in charge of our own life race. You are not a failure until you stop trying . Get your head around the idea that you have the strength to get up! You have the power somewhere inside you to make small changes ..... Stop drinking calories! Just quit . Water is free and soda costs. Eat your meat if someone else cooks for you and skip the rest. If it's processed .... Skip it. Comforting yourself is self abuse and only you can stop it . I'm not trying to be harsh on you, I'm saying only you have the power to change your situation. Somethings in life are not control and some things we CAN ! You can do this if you try

  4. I had my lap band removed and got my rny bypass 8 days . The pain waking up was intense . More than I've heard first time rny patients describe .... My opinion is just because of the additional time it took to remove the band and then do the bypass leaves more co2 gases floating around in your body . It wasn't unbearable and they quickly got it under control in the recovery room . I was able to walk the halls every 2 hours between resting and that helped a lot. Day 4 I felt pretty much back to normal except I usually tire around 2 pm and 7 pm . Then I just lay down for a rest and I'm good to go. I eat and measure according to my surgeons guidelines and I don't feel hunger, but I don't feel full. Or what I've come accustomed to with the band and that " full in your throat" feeling. This rny feels so much more comfortable and normal as far as swallowing and that port being gone. I have lost about 10-13 lbs but the scale hasn't moved in several days and that's ok with me. I knew it would be slow losing after having a previous weight loss surgery so when it moved 10 lbs in the first week , I was thrilled. I'm considered a lightweight anyhow so I'm preparing for slow and steady loss.

  5. How long have you been having issues and how long have you had your band ? I had no trouble until 6.5 years out then my port flipped and I just became intolerant of it. Constant pain and reflux , vomitting blood was the last straw . I sought help and they did an upper gi which showed everything was fine, I insisted on an egd and it showed ulceration and esophagitis from the band . I requested revision to another bariatric procedure and was denied 3 times before getting it approved. I'm 4 days post op from revising to the rny and I'm glad to be rid of the band. I find it shocking that any Drs still put them in .

  6. Thank you both for your encouragement. The soft mass was just a rare Thing that happend while I was forming in my mothers womb, it was an extra piece of pancreas. He said he had never seen it and called in a couple of colleagues to take a look and they had never seen it either. I'm on day 3 and start full liquids tomorrow . Thankfully that semi truck moved off of my stomach yesterday and I'm feeling much better . Doing well on sipping .

I had a lot of nausea with my band and weird pains but I didn't know it was wrapped behind my liver , or if that had anything to do with the irritation I had with the band .

  7. woke up feeling like a semi truck sitting on my chest... My old band tubing was tucked in behind my liver and the dr found a soft mass on my bowel near my pancreas. He sent it off for pathology but says not to worry because they don't think it's anything to worry about... Sipping fluids yesterday was awful because of nausea and pain but today I'm feeling better . Walking halls and showered . Trying to begin sipping better .

  8. So I'm having my 7 year old lapband revised to rny in 4 days ( excited, scared to death, determined ) and I was in my nutrition meeting and she said never ever drink caffeine again, the next day was my final appt with my surgeon and he said that I can have my coffee right after surgery and use Protein Powder in to replace my Creamer.

They also disagree on the number of meals, one says 3 healthy meals of Protein and the other says add 2 tiny protein Snacks in between meals .

Please help clear the confusion . I want to heal perfectly and do my part to make that happen
