How do I know when I am full?

It's like when a cat coughed up a fur ball. Been reminded that a napkin in lap and a quick trip to the nearest place away from family is wise. The size of your meal isn't always what will trigger this unpleasant experience. Sometimes it could be if you are too fast. So slow down and chew carefully. I'm dying inside!

As said above don't get caught up on the #'s because it is phenomenal that you've lost so quickly. I had my surgery 6/30 and am down 37 lbs. in that short time I've gone down 3 sizes and can wear clothes I haven't fit into in years. I'm running down my stairs, and can hop out of bed. I'm off all meds except thyroid meds. My joints don't grind, and I know it can only get better from here. food wise, you soon will be cleared to eat whatever you can tolerate. After my doctor said those words I realized he said it for a reason. I asked him if I could eat salads again. He said; yes if you can tolerate it. So far when I go out to eat I order things I love, and eat the Protein first. And find Some things I always enjoyed are flat. Or make me nauseous. No fun it because you eat so little. New things give me my ahh moments. I can't handle ice cream. So I make mini parfait's with yogurt and berries and diced banana. I've spent my whole life fighting obesity. 50 years on this ride is too long. And now I know this is going to work for me. A very small price to pay for these results. Proud of myself for doing this, not in the least bit sorry! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Pre-Op Diet

The pre-op is to shrink your liver so it is lighter and smaller for their to be less complications during surgery. Visualize the doctor accidentally nicking your spleen, because they couldn't see past your liver. I did that, and it made that broth, ice pops and Protein shakes taste fine. It's only a couple of days and once your on the other side of surgery you will find the weeks fly by so fast. Your so thrilled with the changes in your body you stop obsessing on what you can't have. In fact, my day fly's so fast I realize I didn't get all my protein in. I'm almost 3 months in and lost 36 lbs and eating normal food again all be it tiny portions. Weight gain

I've got clothes I saved at different sizes. I've been all over the place in the past 4 years. So I'm so thrilled to be getting into things I saved. It's like they are new again. ???? I had thyroid removed 2 years ago. So now I'm stable. So as I lose I feel so happy. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. I have to laugh when the deli lady cuts a slice of turkey and gives it to me to eat. And then says here is a slice of cheese. And I was full! Guys! I am so thrilled with this one aspect of our new sleeve. So what if I'm lower BMI, I had several friends say you've done this before. But so much about me has changed. I'm sick of the roller coaster ride. I want the help! I couldn't do it without the leg up! Thank God! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Late June Sleeve Buddies?

Glad to hear from you all as well! Well I am down 35lbs and just hit a stall. I'm hanging in at 199, and I am sure what's going on is expected. Just gonna wait it out. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  14. I worried about that as well. Make meals for your family and if you need to purée. Eat your meal at the same time as your family eats. I also now 3 months in eat out with no problems. Just have an appetizer instead of a meal. And take home what I don't eat. My husband puts my little plate on the table and see's my weight loss as a healthy solution to our relationship. Because now I feel good and have energy. I cook one meal and make sure I eat my Protein first. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Celiac "Come On"

So I find out post surgery that my endoscopy showed some damage to the small intestine and that biopsy confirmed I have celiac. So question? Was this info available to the surgeon? No, so later I find out that this surgery makes such conditions even worse. Well that explained a lot. Last year I was tested for it and they said it was a false positive. So now we know it was actually Positive. So it's GF life for me! Does anyone else have this? If yes how have you done with it? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Question from a Non-cook

Think tasty bites, for example some of the first foods are ground turkey. So make sliders with sautéed onions and Italian cheese as a binding agent with egg and a little milk. It moistens and tenderizes it so it is soft. Season it with Italian seasoning makes it flavorful for you. He can put it onto a bun and you could eat one small slider size burger and I've put them into little muffins tins, pop them out stick into a zip lock and you've got quick warm ups for both of you when ever. By adding egg and cheese you got a Protein packed nugget. Make some oven fries with sweet potatoes and eat a couple if your not full. I can eat 1 slider without a roll. And I eat two slices of sweet potato and I'm done. Keep it simple, protein first always! You will be able to eat steak eventually. So don't fret! I've puréed steak and potatoes. Celiac "Come On"

Thanks for the input! Yeah I've read that anyone with Graves can also have Hashimotos disease. I believe I was swinging between both. 20 years ago after my youngest was born I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. Well since then I've experienced remission and of course polycystic ovaries, which is classic Graves. But diagnosis didn't come until 2014. I've been tested and they diagnosed me with osteo-arthritis. But since my sleeve I feel great!!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Celiac "Come On"

No he said it could make it worse. I just see it as another auto-immune issue with Graves' disease. At this point I feel pretty great, so I will test the waters but no reason to drink the whole River. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    6th Month Post Op

How do you feel, do you see the significant changes in how you move? Getting up out of your car? How much real estate when you lay in your bed. These are major mile stones. Some people look at numbers but let's internalize. I'm thrilled to cross my legs. To fit in old clothes! Rapid weight loss causes psychological tricks on us. You may need to do some talking and therapy. Your gonna think this strange but get naked and stare at every inch of your beautiful self. They call it reaffirmation. It's learning to know and Love your new self. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

how long does the process take?

I started with my first appointment in March and went to meet my surgeon, received all my referrals for testing, and also got a surgery date for June 30th. Dated was set in pencil until I got every test done and results were in. The day before surgery they called to tell me what time to show up at the hospital. Scared

You got this???? I am 55, been through menopause, had my thyroid removed, and I was sleeved June 30th and I've lost 35 lbs. The pre-diet is for shrinking your liver, and limiting complications. Your real weight comes off after the second week from surgery. Your bloated and swollen from IV fluids and inflammation. You will see it fall off of you. Today I went shopping and was able to fit into a Large shirt. I was a 2X before surgery. I weighed 235 pre-surg. Now 200 Celebration soon to come when in the 1's!!!! Your gonna do great!!!
