    Any Post-Op Students out there?

Pretty awesome that we have so many nursing students on here!! #NurseLife Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. So, there is a ton of back and forth on how long people took off from work and life post op, I am just wondering if anyone had success going back to school soon after surgery?? I go to a private college so I can only miss so many classes a term and I also don't want to fall behind. I can get work done ahead of time but there are things I need to be there in person for. Like I said, just wondering about everyone's personal experiences with attending classes post op. Thanks!!! (I am in nursing school too, so I get that your body needing a break, and surgical complications so no lectures please! ) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Any Post-Op Students out there?

Please do!! I was originally scheduled October 19th until I realized my last clinical day for this term was the 20th. We do 10 weeks a term but only 8 weeks of clinical so I asked to be scheduled the next week so that gives me two weeks I don't have to do clinical and i won't be missing any clinical days, only class. I am hoping all goes well because the week after surgery are my finals. I think I should be able to muster enough energy up to at least drag myself in to take a final and go home. Is something wrong with me?

She did, but not much. She has been having to work out like a fiend to be able to lose the little bit that she did. She has been pretty upset about her lack of results. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Any Post-Op Students out there?

I am worried about clinical too. I feel like sitting in a classroom is one thing, but like you said, working a whole actual shift for clinical is way different. We got our instructors for this next term of clinical and I haven't had her yet but others have and she is really nice and understanding so I am hoping she will understand that I will have to take it a little easy for a few weeks. Surgery during school

I am scheduled in October and I've been worried about missing school. I have a week off in September I was really hoping I could get it done but no such luck. I have surgery on a Wednesday and I am hoping I can go back to class on Monday. I know it will be rough but I'm hoping I'll at least be able to sit through class and take it easy. Any Post-Op Students out there?

Thank you for all the responses! I met with my surgeon today and looks like I'll be going under in October so unfortunately I won't be able to do it during my break like I hoped. Going to have to try and get moving and walking asap after. Stressful! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    4 weeks post op!

    Is something wrong with me?

My best friend has this problem as well. She is 7 months post op and she can eat a like a 'normal' person already. She was starving and able to eat a lot more post op than what the nutritionist and surgeon told her to expect. The surgeon actually offered to revise her bypass and make her pouch smaller and she declined. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Kaiser Sunnyside Oregon

Hi guys! I am currently going through the process with Kaiser and will be going to Sunnyside as well. I have already gone through orientation and weight loss class. I just had my appointment with the nutritionist and social services, with my follow up scheduled for 5/25 again. Nice to meet other people going through the same process so close because it has been difficult finding Oregon specific info for Kaiser. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Kaiser

I am using Kaiser for OR/WA as well. I got my dr referral back in October and I am currently waiting on my follow up with the nutritionist and social worker next month. They have been super backed up lately so it has been taking forever. Hopefully after I get that done I can meet my surgeon soon!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    How do you tell people....

Oh my gosh, I am having the same problem! I have told my parents and they are wonderful and supportive of me but I haven't said anything to my fiancées family. They are all very fit and love exercising. My future mother in law is a very avid cyclist and she has said things about my weight to my fiancée, but never to me directly. She is a very nice woman, and very loving towards me but I always feel like my weight has been such an awkward subject hanging in the air. I am so afraid to tell her and have her say the typical response of "we'll have you tried blank exercise" or "have you tried blank diet". I just love her son so much and I want her to be proud to have me as a daughter in law. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
