  1. It's almost impossible to know what size you'd be, even if you're at your goal in 9 months. You were in a 24 at just 20 lbs heavier and one inch shorter than me at my highest and I wore a 16. I'm down to a 10 or 12 after 70 lbs of weight loss, with my jean size being almost always a 10 and my tops being the 12. Who knows where you'll lose it from the fastest, and in my experience you can't compare it to how you've lost weight in the past. We all carry our weight differently and losing it this time around is completely different than anything I've ever experience. Can you afford to have the dress shop order more than one size and hold them for you so that you can come in for a fitting closer to the wedding and let them return the one(s) that won't work? At any rate, you're going to look and feel so fabulous for those weddings, how exciting!!
  2. I was walking a mile+ while still admitted to the hospital. I started walking outside the day I came home and the only restrictions for me were to not lift heavy things for 4 weeks. As long as you're not overexerting, don't have pain and are sure to stay hydrated, it's probably fine. Do your post-op instructions address exercise at all?
  3. My team laughed at the whole straw drama...my surgeon correctly says that we take in air ANY time we drink something, and the method doesn't matter. The same for gum after your stomach is healed...there's no reason to avoid it. I'm grateful for their reasoned approach to this kind of nit-picky stuff, there are more than enough REAL things to worry about after WLS without adding a ton of other restrictions that have no medical or physiological basis.
  4. @@hova1980 One slushy is just one bad choice...if it becomes a habit, THEN it's a problem! I had 2 bites of pumpkin pie last night, that was a bad choice. If I do it again tonight and the night after, the pie has to leave my house
  5. I absolutely agree with @LisaMergs...there is NO WAY any reputable dietitian, nutritionist, nurse or surgeon would recommend 300-600 cals/day for 3 months. 3 weeks, maybe, but not 3 months. That's literally less than 2 Protein shakes/day. I was getting close to 600 cals/day at 3 weeks, and up to 800 a couple of weeks later. To the OP, I'm 5 mos out and still don't count calories...I get my protein (my dietitian prefers I get close to 110g/day but I manage 90g most days), I get my Water and if I'm eating the appropriate protein sources, I don't have to worry about calories. I just checked my food log to see what the calories look like and most days I'm getting 800-1000 and I'm steadily losing. Please don't eat in the 300-600 cal/day range. It's way too low, and you won't lose and will feel horrible.
  6. @@hova1980 Wow, you look fantastic! Congratulations!
  7. @ , I'm totally on board with @@Dub 's plan
  8. I use mine in my coffee every morning, I put my half and half in the bottom of my cup, add the GENEPRO (sprinkle the scoop over the top, don't dump it in as one clump), stir it up well with a fork, then add the coffee. I have a high-end automatic espresso machine that dispenses at about 185 degrees, so the milk does the trick If you can't or don't use milk or cream, just put a few T of Water in the cup and do the same, then add the hot beverage. Definitely DON'T add the Protein powder to cold liquid then microwave it...that's a disaster.
  9. @@HisMrsWright Have you tried going back to clear Liquid Protein to get yourself hydrated and some nutrients into your body? I don't know where you are on your diet or where you're supposed to be on your plan at 4 weeks, but I had quite a lot of nausea as I advanced my diet in the first 8 weeks or so...backing off helped get it under control more than once.
  10. There's a bit of surgical pain post-op, but now that I'm months out, I don't look back and think "wow. that surgery was painful". I took my pain meds for 7 days, which kept me mobile and I really had no issues with pain other than when I first woke up in the PACU, which was quickly dealt with.
  11. I LOVELOVELOVE lentils and limas...I eat lentils 3 or 4 times a week, with curry spices or onions or tomatoes. I adore them. I love limas too but they don't love me...do you think it could be the skins on them? Thanks to you and your suggestion a while back about kefir, I bought some at Whole Foods and loved drinking it. It had been a while since I'd had any, so I wanted to give it a trial run before I bought the grains to make it myself. And tell me how you prepare tempeh? I can get it at our military grocery store, surprisingly, so I'm willing to give it a shot.
  12. I tracked my food for 8 weeks pre-op, the My Fitness Pal app was great. And it's really helpful to see what you're truly eating...be truthful and track EVERY bite. When you see the dietitian, he or she can make suggestions based on what you're eating to help you lose the weight required pre-op. Good luck
  13. This is why you need to measure/weigh your food and eat very, very slowly. Are you still on purees or are you on soft or full diet? It takes a few times to realize what satiated feels like, going slow will give you a bit more leeway so you don't vomit.
  14. I'm only about 5 months post-op, but so far my experience has been a lot like @@LipstickLady ...a spoonful of anything too sugary doesn't agree with me at all. I used to love flan and creme brulee...now one small bite of creme brulee made me very nauseated and miserable. I haven't tried bread at all because 2 pieces of penne Pasta sent me to the bathroom, so lesson learned there. I don't want those things anymore, so my pre-surgery favorites aren't aligning with what I'm interested in post-op. I want vegetables and fruit, mostly, but I'm so limited on space that they only get marginal play. It's all about the Protein now and I can tell physically when I'm not doing well with protein. I don't really miss anything.
  15. Dub, don't do that, have some class, there are ladies present. There ain't no ladies here!!Lady in public, not so much in private...lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Lady in the street but a FREAK in the bed Someone told you about me? 17. @@macon_me You could use sugar-free hot chocolate mix and add unflavored Protein powder to it. I mix GENEPRO into my coffee every morning

  19. It's like having a blindfold removed, isn't it? All you have to do is be a victim, and suddenly, you don't have to take responsibility for ANYTHING! Bad breath? You partner cooked with garlic, and you HAD to eat it! Late for work? Your alarm didn't go off, which has NOTHING to do with you not turning it on! Ate a Big Mac 3 days post op? You COULDN'T STOP YOURSELF...you had an out of body experience!
  20. @@simplykind33 The 'ounce every 15 mins' guideline isn't to LIMIT you, it was to ensure you got ENOUGH Fluid early on. You should be drinking to tolerance, with the exception of 30 mins before and 30 mins after your purees.
  21. Many people have been coddled all the way through life...a B- was fine, because the teacher just wasn't fair, neither is their boss. And you know, the police target red cars. This brings this conversation full circle (and I could kiss you for it!!)...taking responsibility for their actions is something many people have a terrible time doing. I see it here EVERY day, in posts about "I couldn't stop myself" and "I can't help it, I'm only human". Be accountable for your own actions, take ownership of your behavior...we're all better people when we do.
  22. I have to admit it was a provocation. Why did I do it? It irks me quite a bit that whenever someone (including me) is bothered by the tone or choice of words on this board they get a "it's Rants & Raves!!" - Hey, you yourself told me that I lost sight of where we are right now! There is name calling like b***h, idiot etc. and that doesn't cause a shitstorm - but when someone says the F-word, OMG!!!!!!1 it's so evil!!!!!1 - WTH? So tell me: where is that line that is not supposed to be crossed?? At the moment it seems to be dependent on the user where that line is. Double standards at their best. The best would be to stay out of anything controversial - however, things get nasty pretty quick on these boards, depending on who's involved. Sadly, this is one of the most active WLS boards on the web, otherwise I wouldn't bother with this kind of discussion - I simply would stay away. Again, I only commented about you calling for civility in the same post that you told people to "fuck off". It was the conflict between those two things that I was speaking to, not the word. And I was trying to be sort of funny about it but didn't convey that well, thus my comment about tone. I don't care about the words, honestly, as long as it's not used to call names or attack a particular person, for example 'all of the people out there who don't like bacon can fuck off' is different than 'ShelterDog, you can fuck off'. I can swear more creatively and better than most Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen AND Marines, but I seldom direct it to a particular person. For ME, that's where the 'line' is. At the end of the day, we can use those words in any way we choose, but there's one person here who truly defines where the 'line' is for the site and that's @AlexBrecher .
  23. I eat carbs most days...not mashed potatoes, but I'll have some kind of grain or vegetable. And early on, I ate oatmeal, mashed potatoes, cream of wheat and an occasional half piece of toast with Peanut Butter, my surgeon wanted me to have some carbs then when I couldn't get many calories in with protein. As I advanced my diet and was able to eat a little more, I cut back on the simple carbs and rely on complex carbs now.
  24. I had to have shoulder reconstruction about 9 weeks ago, so I haven't been able to do squats, leg presses, etc....I hope when I get to the gym, I can work on building the muscle back up
