  1. Me too...I'm on day 7. The first 5 days were horrible, but yesterday I seemed to have turned a corner. Thank goodness because I am one of those people that gets "hangry" and for those first 5 days, I wanted to kill everyone and everything in my path! LOL! However, I will say that warm liquids are your friend and will help you to feel the most satisfied. Try to stick with those! Hang in there! You CAN do this!!! Two week liquid diet

I feel your pain. I'm on day 6 of 14 day Clear Liquids and Protein shakes only. Luckily, I haven't had the headaches, but have been miserably hungry. Today is the first day that I've felt semi-human. Anyway, I forget who asked, but the reason for the clear liquids is because it helps to rapidly shrink the fat around your liver and make it safer during surgery when they have to move your liver out of the way during surgery. Meat ?

@@Monie717 No, you're not behind schedule! My surgeon and nutritionist do NOT want you advancing foods till they tell you it's ok! Their plan is basically this...if on post-op day 2 you can tolerate Clear liquids, then they advance you to full liquids for the next 2 weeks. If that is tolerated, then after the 2 week appointment, they will let you go to puréed food. Then, after another time period (I can't remember now) if you are tolerating that, then you can go back to regular food. If you're having problems with pain with eating, then they say that you're probably eating too quickly. Personally, I would not advance my food any quicker than the surgeon recommends because you risk causing a leak...which can happen up to even 30+ days out!! @@Calimomof3 While money can certainly be a factor in a lot of things, I would not let that be a deciding factor on where you have major surgery! Also, in my opinion, from the start of the program to surgery in 30 days or less sounds like a sketchy program, at best. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Dr dovec with gbmc in Baltimore MD

I've known her for years and can tell you that she's a wonderful person. Also, I worked at the same hospital where she did her residency, so she's had excellent training. If I were closer, I'd go to her in a heartbeat! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. I'm weird...originally I didn't want to tell anyone, but during the process, I found myself telling people anyway. Most of the people I've told, though, are my colleagues, who are medical professionals, so they've been supportive. My family, on the other hand, I didn't really want to tell. I wasn't even going to tell my 91 y.o. grandmother that lives with me...mainly because I didn't want her to worry, but my mil blabbed . So, I get the decision to keep it private! Whatever works for you! Take care!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. Wow....you all get actual food in your pre-op diet?!?! For 2 weeks prior, my surgeon puts you on Clear Liquids with the exception of they want you to drink enough Protein to meet your daily requirements (80-100g for women). He swears that if I can just get through the first four days, those are the worst. LOL Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Yikes...6 weeks

I plan on going back after two weeks, but will be "light duty" for the following four weeks. I'm a nurse manager, so I can do most of my job, but the "light duty" will mean that I won't be able to take a patient assignment....my surgeon recommends no lifting over 10 pounds for 6 weeks. Needless to say, that definitely rules out ICU nursing! LOL Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
