  1. I am set to have my sleeve with dr fass for sept 9. Dr ganta was honestly a doc who you could feel comfortable with and knew his stuff. I chose Fass because he does and inverted sleeve. Sent from my SM-N930P using the BariatricPal App

  6. I worry about that as well, but dont currently experience reflux and hoping i wont after surgery. Look into a procedure called a nissen which also results in weight loss as a side effect of controlling reflux. It wont be as much weight loss as what a sleeve or rny would provide though. 11. Yes, sorry, i meant for the actual sleeve (stomach). Im doing a couple of surgeons visits and the first surgeon mentioned he uses staples with self suturing sutures and tissue glue, i wasnt sure if this was something just his practice does or if it's standard. 12. Is it common practice to use staples that also have self suturing sutures for the vsg. And tissue glue as well? Sent from my SM-G860P using the BariatricPal App

  14. I went thru 4 ivfs so put my body thru a menopausal state 4 times and my body loves to hold onto fat! Before the last ivf, i convinced dh to let me have a smart lipo procedure on my tummy so the meds could work better (they did, I had twins). My hubby mistook the lipo for weight loss and said basically I was still fat and I'm never to have that type of surgery again. My recovery was tough and he was worried (?) anyway, I need help, I want to get the sleeve and get in with life and run after my kids without having a breathing attack. I want to be open about the surgery and my desire for it, but it'll cost 12000 out of pocket. I'm afraid he'll think I'm doing one of my silly weight loss things again. I don't think he'll appreciate the reasons to do it and we'll tell me to diet and exercise. Any advice? Sent from my SM-G860P using the BariatricPal App

    Any Austin TX sleevers!

It was in the paperwork I was given today during my consult (&the dietitian also said that I would be charged the cost of the hernia repair if Dr G sees one during the surgery). My insurance doesn't cover wls, so they didn't even ask for my insurance info today. I did meet with him and thought he was great, very knowledgeable, confident, and funny. Any Austin TX sleevers!

Thank you! Think I'll contact them, Dr Ganta quoted 13500 for vsg and if I have a hiatal hernia it'll also be oop for me since he doesn't deal with insurance. Sent from my SM-G860P using the BariatricPal App

    Any Austin TX sleevers!

Yay! Thank you, omg, I'm so nervous! I had an appt scheduled with Dr Acheson for a balloon but opted for a sleeve with Dr ganta. I'm self pay so trying to find what I want for what I can afford. I haven't contacted southwest bariatric yet for sleeve, maybe I should? Sent from my SM-G860P using the BariatricPal App
  18. I'm a almost 41 yr old mother of twin boys and have been hovering around 230-240 for 5 yrs. I did intensive ivf (4 rounds) & feel this has messed with my ability to lose weight. I've been big my whole life (10 pounder at birth). I will be self pay and don't want my husband to know I'm doing it (he would be against it). Im looking into Dr ganta in Austin TX. Any advice on recovery? What to expect? How long before heavy lifting (my boys are 50 and 30 lbs each and love being lifted) Sent from my SM-G860P using the BariatricPal App
  19. We don't exactly have a great marriage (can ya tell?) after I had my twins dh turned into a real @@@hole, he's gotten better lately. Ours is an arranged marriage so we probably aren't as close as other married couples. I am planning on bringing it up to him to let him know I am going to do it and would like to have his support and help. We'll see how it goes, I have my evaluation tomorrow afternoon and we'll see what the doc says. And if, God forbid, something were to happen, he'd need to know the particulars. Sent from my SM-G860P using the BariatricPal App @@Marona that's a great idea! Thanks Sent from my SM-G860P using the BariatricPal App

  22. @@jaxmom, your post has me in tears! You're absolutely 100% right. I feel like I focus and fight myself and my body so much that it takes away from the parts of my life that matter, like my kids. I've decided on doing the sleeve as well and have lined up my consult /evaluation tomorrow. Thank you for the words I needed to hear to keep moving forward with this journey. Decisions Decisions

I keep oscillating between the balloon and the sleeve. I understand the risks are greater with the sleeve, but it sounds like having the balloon is miserable and seems like dehydration is a problem. Has anyone had balloon then went to sleeve and can describe the pros and cons of each? Sent from my SM-G860P using the BariatricPal App
