Woo Hoo - just joined the group also! Banded 2/28 in S. California (Rancho Cucamonga). Ya - a lot of you are losing like crazy. I've had only 1 fill and have lost only 20 lbs since surgery. I was OK with it till I saw what everybody else has been doing! Will probably get another fill first part of July - should help speed things up. But then again I don't feel like I've really had to change the type of food I've been eating - its just been the quantity changing. So I don't feel like I've been missing out on going out to eat, special occasions and stuff like that. Anyway - glad to find you guys!!!

    No more weight loss

I've lost about 15 since my surgery date and am completely happy with that. But, I do know that I can improve that with better food choices. Also...had one fill and probably should get another one soon. Also - walk or go to water aerobics or something - helps a lot!

    What to do until fill????

Yes - My doctor saw the hernia during the operation and fixed it. I had pain but thought it was more from the surgery itself (not the hernia repair). Basically pains in my left shoulder and neck (from the gas). All was good after about 4 - 5 days. Started walking then eventhough stomach still felt like I did 100 sit ups.

    What to do until fill????

Know how you feel! I woke up this morning with Bags the size of suitcases under my eyes! But spent the weekend in Vegas and had fun - ate small amounts but did drink a little. I know that and the FRIED chicken tenders probably had something to do with my 3 pound weight gain! Anyway - it's Monday now and time to be good and drink more WATER!!!! Hey - at least I won a little money and found that I can stay up till 3AM without turning into a pumpkin!
  6. Well....I called the office 5 days after getting home from the hospital and was told that I could advance to a diet of soft/tender chicken and fish and soft veggies and fruit - The nurse said it was a stage 3 Bariatric diet and she had the diet emailed to me. I started that diet and didn't experience any problem......Then....9 days later I went in for my first post op visit with Dr. Krahn and he asked how I was doing on the liquid protein diet. I said "what liquid protein diet?" I should have been on liquid protein for 2 weeks after surgery so my stomach could heal and scar tissue can form on the back side of the stomach. so basically the nurse advanced me too soon - (She's new to the practice). So he put me on mushie food for the next 2 weeks. I've now advanced back to the soft chicken and fish and am hoping that no damage was done to the placement of the band. Will see how it goes!
  7. Hi CaliGirl - I had my surgery done by Dr. Krahn in March. He's great! The staff is great also (except for 1 incident) that has since been worked out. Rancho Specialty is very good also. But if you end up going there bring a heavy robe - that is the COLDEST hospital I've ever been in!

    Would It Kill Me....

I sure wish I saw a thread like this prior to surgery! My Doctors "new" nurse had "Bariatric Stage III" info emailed to me on 3/31 (I was banded on 3/27)....So after being on liquid protein, jello and broth for 3 days I was given the go ahead to move on to chopped fine/mushy low fat meats, protein foods (cottage cheese, tuna, refried beans, yogurt, string cheese, white fish, canned fruit in their own juices etc. etc.) Then.....I saw my Doctor on 4/9 and he thought I was still on liquids!!! He wasn't very happy when he found out I wasn't. He explained then that the stomach needs time to build up scar tissue around the band....Since then I've been on mushies and protein drinks. Needless to say I'm keeping the Stage III email instructions in case it does slip..Sure hope it doesn't! Lost 20 lbs in pre op and now down another 10. Feeling healthy, great and energized and will try not to "Dwell" too much on the negatives!
  10. I'm now 9 days out - Today at lunch I had 1.5 oz teriyaki chicken and about 1/4 c macaroni salad. (My Doctors instructions are protein only until 80% of your weight is lost). As you can see I'm not doing it. My rational is that this is still far less than I used to eat. I know my body has to go through an adjustment period - I am walking about 1.5 miles every other day, but I am getting discouraged because I've only lost 2 lbs post op....but lost 20 lbs doing a month of pre-op. I know it will come off eventually but am happy to now be at 220 instead of 242.
