  2. I was also sleeved on the 21st and I thought I was going to die lol. I asked myself what did I get into. But I had to stop and think. I didnt come all this way to give up now. The first few days its hard. But it gets better everyday. Walk alot, dont stay in bed all day. One thing that works for me and keeps me going during this healing process is the scale. Everytime I weigh myself, the numbers are going down. This motivates me to stay on track and follow my doctors orders. Try to stay hydrated and try to get some Protein in. Good Luck and Happy healing!

  5. Hey guys...it has been a while since I posted. Life has been great. I've actually become this fitness fanatic. I love working out now...never saw that coming. My RNY changed my life and I'm so grateful. Still have a ways to go but I'm so happy with my progress. Starting weight 519lbs...surgery weight 428lbs...current weight 262lbsattachicon.gif ImageUploadedByBariatricPal1461226623.251805.jpgattachicon.gif ImageUploadedByBariatricPal1461226651.687097.jpg

    You look great!

  6. Debby. Support is paramount. I am a proud man and do not lean or rely on people very often but for this it was needed. I have met several others who have made this decision and have already been through it. They, along with my wife have been my rocks. I never thought I needed anyone other than myself but this journey has shown me the truth.

  7. The only people that know that I will be doing VSG are my husband, my mom, dad and sister. Thankfully, my parents and sister support my decision and agree with me to keep this between us. My mom is my biggest cheerleader and she even wants me to stay with her the first week so she can help me. I'm having a hard time getting my husband on board. He doesn't understand why can't I just do it the nonsurgical way. Hopefully I get him on board by the time my surgery date approaches. At the end of the day, I have to do this for myself. I must say, if I didn't have support, I probably wouldn't have gone through with this. With that said, tell at least one person. Support is needed during this journey.

  8. @@debby8892 I think they will tell you the "results" at the end of your evaluation. I had actually asked her for some suggestions for emotional eating and she replied by saying that she thought that would be the only concern she had as well (I'm assuming if I didn't ask - she would have told me at that time). If they don't - I wouldn't hesitate to ask them.

I had never had a psych eval or counseling before so I wasn't sure what to expect. My first counseling appointment for emotional eating is this Thursday. I'm also hoping for a Sept surgery date.

Good luck to you @@KristenLe! I'm looking forward in following your journey.

  9. They will have you complete several questionnaires regarding you eating habits, mental health history, substance abuse history. They will then meet with you to review all of that and particularly your expectations with WLS, your knowledge about the surgery (before, during and after), coping with stress, any trauma in the past, etc. It's a good time to ask questions and get some advice. I have an issue with emotional eating and am getting some extra help with that before surgery.

this was my similar experience. I saw once for my initial eval and will see again before my surgery on june 22nd.
Hey! Were you able to get your results right away or did you have to wait?

  11. Only once to a Psychiatrist for eval but I'm going to a psychologist to help with my emotional eating. I have to go thru 6 months of supervised weight loss for my insurance so I figured I'd get all the tools I can during that time.

O ok, make sense. I have to go through 6 months of supervised weightloss as well. Im down 2 months, 4 more to go. Can't wait. I'm projected to have my surgery at the end of September.
