What was the longest stall you had?

Good point @asmallerme2016. I think I may do the same. I try to get in all my Protein but I haven't been tracking, so I definitely need to. I also did well with the pre-op diet so I may do that again for a week just to give myself a kick in the butt. I have been stalled for almost a month and it is driving me crazy!

What was the longest stall you had?

I'm in the same boat and it is so frustrating. Here's my info: HW 206 Surgery weight 194 on May 16th 2016 Current weight 170 I've only lost 24 pounds since surgery in May. I keep telling myself to hang in there, it will come off slowly but I worry that this is it. I'll just keep plugging away and hope it comes off and more importantly, stays off. Anyone else with a similar situation?

    Feeling Horrible

I felt the exact same way during the 2 week pre-op diet. I called my surgeon's office and asked if I could buy the Meal Replacement soups and then raced over there to pick them up. I was so much happier with the soups. I had the New Direction brand broccoli cheddar and cream of chicken. You may be able to find them online if your surgeon's office doesn't carry them. Good luck!

    Your post op experience

I had that same pain for at least a few days and then it went away. I'm just guessing that it was the sleeve healing on that side where the staples/sutures are. Hopefully it gets better for you soon.

4 weeks out from surgery-reference pics

You guys all look so good! That's awesome! Thanks for the inspiration!
  6. nmr83, ugh, sorry. I know you'll get through and at least the worst part is over. I don't understand why the doctors vary so much in their post-op instructions. I was scared because it seems most people are still on shakes/pureed food. It seems like there should be a universal set of instructions, but I'm no doctor so maybe it is more of an individual thing. Good luck, sending positive vibes to you and all the group.
  7. I'm 2 weeks out today and just like kmorri, I feel totally fine and I am eating regular foods just fine. I only have a shake a day if that. My favorite foods are ahi poke (Costco has it fresh, nice and soft and delicious, loaded with protein), egg salad, avocado, cheese and canned chicken. Yay! After that first day in the hospital I am so happy to feel this good so quickly. I hope everyone else is doing well. Aren't you all so happy to have the surgery over with and be on the road to a healthier life? :-)

    Back Home

You may be holding onto some weight because you are dehydrated, as crazy as it sounds. The night I spent int he hospital I was dehydrated because they couldn't get the IV in and then it infiltrated (big pain in the butt). Once I was hydrated, I was peeing like crazy and the scale dropped. Hang in there and keep on sipping.

    Gastric sleeve with hiatal hernia

To my surprise, my doctor said he repaired and moderate hiatal hernia while he did the sleeve. I was not told to vary the post op diet in any way because of this. So far, I've been great and have not had any issues. I'm 2 weeks post op and my surgeon is, in my opinion, very liberal on what I could eat post op. I hope this helps. Good luck!

    Approved....finally!

Whew! Finally approved! My last NUT visit was 4/6. Submitted to insurance the next day. 4/11 get a letter asking for more info, basic stuff that I thought would have already been submitted like surgery date, hospital info, etc. Resubmitted by 4/15, got approval via automated system on 4/22 and finally got the call from the surgeons office today. I am scheduled for May 16th!! Yay! Let's get this party started!

    Hiatal Hernia

I had a hiatal hernia repair during the sleeve surgery and I had no idea I even had a hernia. The doctor said is was a moderate size, go figure. Anyway, I'm only 5 days post op and eating shakes and pureed Soups okay. If pure liquid hurts to swallow I would try tiny little sips and see how it goes. Use the pain meds, and if it doesn't improve, call your surgeons office. I hope you get some relief soon.
  12. I've had gurgling too, when I sip a little too much at once. I'm not really on a schedule but just trying to take tiny sips all day. I had liquid pureed lentil soup and did okay with that but I know I'm not getting enough protein. In the hospital they gave my Isopure clear and I think that is the best option for getting fluid and protein in. I'll be ordering some online. Pain isn't too bad, getting better but I still had a little swig of that liquid Vicodin since it's almost bedtime. I hope you are all doing well. Good luck tomorrow Nursebeauty23. I'm sure you'll do great and will definitely be happy to have the surgery done. Let us know how you're doing. 'Night!
  13. Very sore today. Lots of pain at the incision sights and also my tummy when I try to "eat" so I am taking small sips. I am looking forward to feeling better. I hope everyone is doing well.
  14. Good luck cc70. You'll be out before you know it and relieved to have it behind you. Sending positive thoughts. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  15. Coming out of anesthesia was rough and lots of pain from the gas. Feeling much better this morning and on zero pain meds. I'd rather feel the soreness as the meds make me feel too weird. So far doing well with Clear Liquids and no hunger pangs. I hope everyone's surgery day went well! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  16. A day and half to go. I am really hungry! On 4 shakes per day (800 calories). Luckily, I was able to purchase some Meal Replacement soups which at least appeal to the want for something savory. My Dr's office has me on New Direction. The puddings are okay since I blend with ice and it's like a soft serve. BUT...I am so ready for something else! I check-in Monday at 9:25 for 11:25 surgery. I was told to bring just my ID and insurance card and wear lose pants for going back home. One question: My surgeons paperwork says after surgery to have bites the size of a pencil eraser. Are they serious?!?! I would have to take a bazzilion bites to get all the Protein in. Wishing the group a successful, easy surgery on Monday!
  17. I'm May 16th too! Yay! I have my pre-op appt on 5/3 and will pick up and start shakes that day. I''ll be on 4 shakes a day. I know it will be tough but we'll do it!

Oprah ate my inner skinny person.

Has Oprah ever talked about WLS and/or why she has not done it? I'm just curious. When I first started thinking of WLS she is the first person I Googled because I wanted to see what her reasons for NOT having it are. I couldn't find anything.

    Strict insurance pre approval process

You are definitely not alone. I went through the same struggle. I was told not to lose more than 3 lbs or I would not qualify. In doing so I also gained about 5 lbs. For my last weigh in I was freaking out. I wore the lightest thing I could possibly find in my closet and I took a diuretic the day before and day of the weigh-in. I had a net gain of 1.6 lbs over the 90 days. URGH! Stressed so badly, thought of writing a letter explaining that my first weigh in was just after a stomach flu and my last weigh in was during my monthly cycle. I mean seriously, we fluctuate from day to day, there really should be a plus/minus 5 lbs clause. Anyway, it all worked out and I got approved. I'm sure you'll be fine, I'll be sending positive thoughts.

    Approved....finally!

I have Cigna. I had heard they approve quickly so I was a nervous wreck when it took so long to hear back from them.

    Submitting to Insurance!

Mine was submitted on the 11th to Cigna and I am still waiting...automated system says "pending." This part is driving me nuts, I just want to know it's approved no matter how far out they schedule me, at this point I would just be happy to have a surgery date.

    Waiting and nervous....

Hi All, I just joined this site and have read all the posts about waiting to hear on approval. Well, I have finally made it to that step and now I wait. I have Cigna and I am nervous because I gained 1.4 lbs during my 3 month NUT visits. The NUT told me not to lose any weight since I was at a BMI of 36, with HBP, pre-diabetic, Hyperlipidemia, asthma. She said if I lost I was at risk of "losing my insurance benefit." It was so difficult to not lose and not gain, plus my scale differs from theirs, I fluctuate daily, etc. Fingers crossed. The automated system says..."pending." ARGH!

    Waiting and nervous....

Good idea! I should have done that in the first place. Geez! I just want off this HBP med, the side effects suck. I called the auto system and still "pending". Thanks for the tips. I sure hope I don't have to start the 90 days all over again.
