ttnurse got a reaction from SleeveToBypass2023 in Booze is taking over, don't let it happen to you.
Todd, you have admitted that you are an alcoholic which is the first step. Hallelujah for you being able to do that. God bless you on your journey. My husband drank over 50 years. We just celebrated year 3 of his sobriety. It can be done. We are rooting and praying for you. Love, Teresa in Virginia

ttnurse reacted to ClareLynn in When can I chug my water down my throat!!?? Help lol
In the beginning I would take a big mouthful of Water and just hold it in my mouth to fix my dry mouth. Then either spit it out or slowly swallow the water in little bits until it was all gone.

Beautiful person that you are, you are kind, empathetic,a libran like myself. I pray you find yourself throughout this mess of clouds we call life. You were born into this world, have your procedure, hold your shoulders back and head up. You my dear are worth it. I read your post as I am in the San Diego ,California airport for 6 hours waiting to catch my flight home. I just left Tijuana Mexico 3 hours ago. My surgery was August 18.. Keep a positive mind to get you to the other side of all of this. You will be so happy you did..Teresa

Great idea, i weighed myself daily for the first 4 years, rarely kept a food journal. I believe honestly that would hold me accountable which is definitely what is needed. Thank you a bunch

ttnurse got a reaction from GreenTealael in Struggling with weight loss 3 yrs post VSG
I just want to commend you on communicating with others about the struggle as it is so real. I believe I am post op about 4 years now. I did the phentermine thing and lost 20 pounds ,that was short lived. I am on something different now called diethylpropion ER ,6 weeks so far and a measly 5 pounds down. I am hardheaded and know what I need to do. Move more than I put in my mouth as the YMCA membership isn't getting used like it should be. So again I commend you on sharing and glad I saw that I am still not the only one out there trying to make a change. And yep, don't give up. You are strong, you are important and beautiful.Cheers to you and keep that positive attitude my dear..Teresa

btw - I get it as well. I gained 12 lbs during year 3 (which was OK since I was too thin at my lowest weight), and eight lbs last year (NOT OK). I've been really struggling to take that off - watching my calories, tracking everything, exercising almost every day (for the last couple of months, my primary exercise is bike riding, which I do 1-2 hours a day, 5-6 days a week). I've lost a measly three lbs. I suppose if I cut back to like 800 or 1000 calories a day, I could lose it faster - but I don't think I'd find that very sustainable five years out. Luckily, my weight is OK - I'd just like to lose another five lbs, but still - this is tough!!
back when I was morbidly obese, I used to roll my eyes at these women who were normal weight or slightly overweight who'd moan and complain about hard it was to lose five (or ten...) lbs. Yea....right. Try losing 100 or more! But now...I finally get it!!!

ttnurse reacted to Healthy_life2 in Legal food on the run: Convenience foods that work and strategies for restaurants
Google the restaurant menus to preplan your meal.
Restaurants always serve a Protein and a veggie. Easy for me to order extra veggies to replace the carb...If you are allowed carbs on your plan you can just eat the smaller portion...
Those of you in the first stages can order an appetizer or kids meal. Nothing wrong with a full meal size. You can box it up and have the leftovers for another meal (for some of you three meals lol)
I like qdoba.(yes fast food place) I can get a kids size burrito bowl - fill it with meat veggies salsa black Beans guacamole. ( I don't do rice and tortilla wrap)
On the run meals - Carry a small thermal lunch bag in your car for emergencies - Ice pack for summer - Good to have on hand if you get stuck in traffic or the snow in the winter -
Protein bars Quest chips Jerkey tuna packet P3 protein pack Fork & hand whipes

ttnurse got a reaction from jennypenny1998 in Less Restiction
Not sure if I should be responding or asking a question. I was sleeved May 2016 ,I attained my goal weight within 6 months postoperative. Now feeling good about myself I feel less restriction and think I can stuff anything in my face. My weight goes up and down within 10 pounds within a week. I am hard headed and will pop 3 stool softeners or laxatives to help "cleanse" myself. I'm a moron I think, not cool to do that daily which I do sometimes for months at a time. Just need some advice I'm a snacker too ,which doesn't help. Thanks for reading

I'm not judging or preaching to anyone.....But can laxitives/stool softeners for weight loss a sign of bulimia? https://www.nationaleatingdisorders.org/learn/general-information/laxative-abuse
The goal is healthy and finding a balance.
This is what maintaining looks like for me - My weight fluctuates ten pounds. When I gain weight I go back to low carb ( my bariatric diet plan) to get it back off back off. I also put in extra time at the gym. I try not to let myself gain over the ten pound bounce range....
You can snack. If you are in weight loss mode make it healthy salty or sweet options...Keep within your plan calories and Protein goals.

hi, I sometimes order a healthy meal from the cafe at my job, they serve "clean eating" food.this can be divided into several meals.i eat a fair amount of peanuts that I have to shell the more work to get to the reward which in turns has me eating less, good protein.i sometimes substitute peanuts for a meal and keep moving along
