    Acne after bypass?

I never had bad acne but I'm a week and a half post op and I look like I'm 15 again. Acne on chin, neck forehead. It's terrible! Anyone else have this problem and if so, does it go away? I've read some get acne because of the change in hormones and losing fat cells. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Post Op Gassiness?

@@UsernameTaken - did you have to do a swallow study the next day after your surgery?! That horrific tasting stuff? I was just reading in my manual guide that the swallow study can cause diarrhea due to the contents in that mixture. Happy tooting friends! Cheers to the new life!! Post Op Gassiness?

Oh I know exactly what you are talking about... That's the same diarrhea I had an accident with for my first BM, lol thought it was going to be gas but it wasn't, I had a post on it.Some nasty stuff, I am not aware of receiving any iron infusion, I think it's just part of the gas and residue or something from surgery. Mine finally went away, I am 8 days post op. I am SO HAPPY I AM NOT ALONE!! how long did it take till yours went away? Assuming 8 days post op?? Seriously praising the Lord I am not the Lone Ranger lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Post Op Gassiness?

Hey all, I am four days post op RNY and I have gas in my stomach churning. The doctor gave me an Iron infusion while in the hospital and of course all the gas they pump you with to do the surgery laparoscopically... However, I have had black diarrhea for the past two days. Did anyone have this?! I've looked online and many have said its due to iron but I'm a bit concerned cos I am going about 3-4 times a day! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Pain pump post surgery?

Hey all- I had my RNY surgery on Wednesday. Yay the big part is over! However, When I went home the day after, I had an ON-Q pain pump that was supposed to release medicine when necessary. The nurse at the hospital said it was supposed to shrink in size as the pain medicine went in my body... This morning I woke up and the ball was the same size as when I left hospital. I ended up removing it and feel much better now that it's gone. I think I had a faulty pain pump. Anyone else have this problem? Thanks! A Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. Hey Maggie- I'm getting my surgery in Fort Worth as well. What hospital and Doctor did you use? Also, if you were self pay what were the final costs of hospital stay, surgeon fee, etc? If you don't mind me asking of course:-) I'm trying to get an estimate. Thanks!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Band removal covered- what can I expect to pay out of pocket?

Revision. If they have to take it out, they may as well stay a little longer and help me fight my obesity, right?! Are you having a revision? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Band removal covered- what can I expect to pay out of pocket?

Okay. That's what I was expecting. The surgeon fees are a flat 10,200 and the of course the actual hospital/RNY surgery.. I'm expecting about 21k after all completed. We'll see. And I'll look into Care Credit! Thanks for insight my friend! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. Hey guys... My band removal has been approved by my insurance due to a leak and I'm thrilled!! However I'm going to have to pay out of pocket for the actual surgery and surgeon fees (Bariatrics isn't covered by my insurance plan) The hospital said they can't tell me how much I will end up paying cos it depends on insurance and benefits. Should I expect that since I have to get sedated for the band removal that insurance will at least cover anesthesia? Anything else insurance will cover for the removal? Also, what's the best route in terms of paying for it? Care credit? Private loan? I've done all the necessary steps and don't want to give up but it's A LOT of money. Thanks for your help in advance! Young and getting the bypass

I was 19 when I got banded in 2009 and in college. And honestly it was a great time. I went to classes and lost weight, a lot of my peers were focused on other things and my weight didn't come up often. Of course my close friends/roommates knew but as far as having surgery during college, I loved it! We are all making our lives better, no matter our ages. Good luck my friends! Failure

Hey y'all! I was banded 1/2009 and for the first two years, lost about 65 pounds. I could never get the fills in the green zone- too tight or too loose. I threw up 3 times a day for 4 years. Not throw up but the regurgitation(sorry for tmi) Basically, I lost all my weight by starving and working out like I was the next contestant on Biggest Loser, except there weren't cameras or Jillian Michaels screaming at me. I had a band slip in 2011- while on a cruise... First cruise I didn't gain weight on but was miserable. Once back home, all Fluid was taken out and I played the guessing game for a few more years. I then gained all the weight I had lost due to my band empty and poor food choices. Like many who have had a failed WLS know, it's extremely shameful and disheartening. Finally in 2015, I visited a new doctor in DFW who suggested a revision. My biggest fear is losing the weight with RNY and gaining it back. Food has and still is an emotional comfort. First step in recovery is admitting, right?! So I've started a food journal with triggers that make me want junk food. I refuse to invest in this surgery (scheduled surgery is next Tuesday... Thank you Jesus!) and gain all the weight back So anyone out there a big sweets person- did your cravings die down after the revision to bypass? What are some tricks that worked for you? I'm thankful for your help and insight! Xx Alyssa Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
