  1. This is oh so true. I will fess up and say I used to think WLS was a way of cheating. Said I would never have it done because I could loose the weight myself. Ha! However, I did keep my comments to myself. Never told any of my friends how I felt. What changed my mind? My insurance and the fact I work for a health care company and my out of pocket expenses were minimal. Do I still think it's cheating? No, I now realize it is going to be a long, rough road. I have told very few people and have their support. I did let everyone know I was having surgery when they asked what kind, I kindly replied it was personal. I know it isn't going to take a rocket scientist to figure it out when I start loosing the weight but I will cross that bridge when I come to it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Any April 2016 VSGers out there?

I'm doing good. Haven't yet been able to get 64oz of Water in yet. My tailbone is getting a little sore but other than that I'm good. How are you doing? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  5. My surgery was on 4/4. I move between the bed, chair and couch downstairs. My tailbone is really starting to hurt. I sleep on a wedge and was doing awesome until last night when my butt/tailbone started hurting. Any suggestions? Has anyone tried sleeping on their side or stomach. My Dr told me I could as long as I could tolerate it

Any April 2016 VSGers out there?

I would love to join this group. I was sleeved on 4/4 and have told very few people and love that the group is secret. I sent you a friend request and email. Thanks! Traci
  10. Hi! I'm new here too. My surgery date was 4/4. BCBS is a good insurance co. I only had to take a nutrition class and then a behavioral health assessment. My out of pocket costs were very minimal but that is mostly because i work for the company who owns the hospital. Any way best of luck to you. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Using the bathroom

The best way to treat hemorrhoids is to drink plenty of Water and take Fiber. You might want to check with your Dr before taking any fiber since you just had surgery. Also, keep in mind NORCO, Hydrocodon and other pain medications can cause constipation.
  14. I was able to wear mine. It didn't get in the way of the incision I have.
  15. Hi! I'm new here, glad I found this place. I had my gastric sleeve 4/4/16 and my surgeon said it was a textbook surgery. I was up right away walking but just couldn't get the gas out. Every sip of Water or broth I had brought some serious gas pains and I even had a sharp stabbing pain in the stomach area. My surgeon felt it was best for me to stay another day. I continued walking, I'd make 3-4 laps around the ward, the nurses said I was doing an awesome job. However, I still couldn't/hadn't passed any gas. On day 2 the nurses really started to push the fluids more. I had my first popsicle and learned that the sips of water I was taking must have been to big for my stomach because I wasn't having the pains as much. I was discharged about 4pm, 4/6/12. I was still struggling with pain when I drank but about 1am in the morning the gas was finally coming out (sorry if that is TMI .... but I'm sure we all went through it) ... I have never been so happy in my life! Drinking was so much easier after that, I have my sipping down to a science now. Yesterday, 4/7/16, I woke up and I felt good. Decided to take my walk down to the corner and back not once but twice. I'm not really sure how far it is and had planned to map it out with MapMyWalk on my next walk. But that didn't happen. My right side was hurting pretty bad, my body was telling me to slow it down. So I had a very boring evening, with small walks around the backyard. This morning I'm back to feeling great. Little to no pain and almost finished with my first 20oz of water. But I am not going to push it today. I look forward to sharing my journey with all of you and of course getting to know all of you.
