1. I'm scheduled to take my band out on the 22nd of January to do the sleeve. I've been having second thoughts since November of last year. the band isn't helping me however I've been able to lose 35 lb on my own by exercising and watching what I eat. I still have a huge appetite and believe that the sleeve will help me Get back to a normal size. I'm hesitating because I don't know if the sleeve will help my appetite since I've learned to eat around my band. I wonder if I'll do the same With the sleeve. Since both of you have already done your surgeries Do you have any regrets? do you feel a dfference from when you had your band put in and now with the sleeve?

  2. OH my gosh!!! I was just sitting here trying to make sense of it all. I really don't know what I'm doing. I feel as though I need to learn to eat all over again. I don't know how to work with this new stomach of mine and I sure as heck don't know what "full" really means. if getting stuck means "full" then it sucks because I'm still hungry. What am I missing???

  3. Veg, it's actually easier to quit smoking because you don't have cigs sitting around in your kitchen cabinets. For me it wasn't easy the first week but now I don't even think about it (ok, maybe a little).<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Food on the other hand has always been around for me, I eat mindlessly. Before I know it the food is in my mouth, I don't think twice about it. I have been heavy my entire life. I’m actually very surprised I haven’t gone over 300 lbs.

I was banded on May 21st and today is my first fill. I know that everyone says it’s a way of life and that I have to work with the band but I guess I just don’t get it. I hope today will be the day I GET IT.

Keep up the good work the rest of you that GET IT.

  4. I was banded on May 21st and i wonder if i made the right choice. I hope after my first fill on Monday I will feel the "LOVE" with my band that everyone is talking about.

I've been heavy my entire life so I wonder if my eating habits can and will change with my first fill. If my current feelings for food are a sign of what's to come then I'm affraid i've made the wrong choice with the lap band.

    Cross your fingers for me!!!!!

  5. Jillian, i had my surgery on the 21st of May. I ate like tomorrow would be my last day on earth. I was supposed to be on a 2 week pre-op diet but i just couldn't make myself do it. My doctor didn't come to see me after surgery so I'm not sure of what happen with the liver shrinking situation.

Now I'm not hungry at all. 4 days after surgery i have lost 10 lbs. Tomorrow marks my 1 wk.

  6. if he knows all of this history then why is he doing this to you. I waiting for 3 years just so that my insurance would change. you have to beg with him. Tell him that you see this as the way to lose weight and your last chance. The entire world is doing it. It's not like you're doing the gastric bypass. Talk to him again.

I'm sorry but it upsets me that someone else thinks they can make decisions for us. We know what we want and that's that!!!!

  7. why not go to another GP for the clearense? Think about that. All you'll need to do is visit a doctor in your area for a "physical" but be sure he's someone that supports the surgery.

For the clearense you'll only need to have a doctor complete the form the hospital gives you. Do you bloodwork with the hospital.

Is there someone you can ask that has this procedure in your area?

  8. I can't be excited right now, I'm only scared. I was supposed to be on my pre-op diet two weeks ago but I've been having a hell of a time with it. I do fine in the morning but then at night I have this hunger that feels like I can eat a whole cow. I have to do something for the next three days.

I'm scared because the nurse told meduring my initial visit that I'd be yelled at if my liver doesn't shrink before surgery. But then the doctor told me that it's "no big deal" but to try and lose the weight.

Good Luck to everyone. Let's stay in touch for support.

  9. I found it was easier to go through the nurse at United Healthcare. Dial 1-866-534-7209. I asked the doctors office to forward everything to the nurse, not the insurance company. The nurse spoke to the director after receiving everything and had me approved in 3 days.

It took me longer to get all my pre req. done and then schedule my surgery than it did to get approved.

One thing that Jill did tell me was that because my BMI is over 40 i was automatically approved. I also have a PPO and it didn't seem to make a difference.

Let me know how you do.
