Anyone have gastric sleeve years after having your band removed?
I'm scheduled to take my band out on the 22nd of January to do the sleeve. I've been having second thoughts since November of last year. the band isn't helping me however I've been able to lose 35 lb on my own by exercising and watching what I eat. I still have a huge appetite and believe that the sleeve will help me Get back to a normal size. I'm hesitating because I don't know if the sleeve will help my appetite since I've learned to eat around my band. I wonder if I'll do the same With the sleeve. Since both of you have already done your surgeries Do you have any regrets? do you feel a dfference from when you had your band put in and now with the sleeve?

Target Amount of Protein
that sounds more like it Cass. 150X.37=56 grams....much better

Protein Drinks
i get my from my grocery store but i've seen it at CVS. You should be able to find it anywhere

Protein Drinks
I think EAS (energy.athletics.strength) is just the right blend of everything and I see it everywhere. it has 23g of whey protein, 3g of carbs (1g sugars), 2g fat, and 120 calories. I don't mix it with milk since milk turns into sugar, so i use water.

Target Amount of Protein
zengirl, this seems high, doesn't it? i weigh 280 X .37 = 104. Are you missing something from the formula?

Worried/confused...where is full?
OH my gosh!!! I was just sitting here trying to make sense of it all. I really don't know what I'm doing. I feel as though I need to learn to eat all over again. I don't know how to work with this new stomach of mine and I sure as heck don't know what "full" really means. if getting stuck means "full" then it sucks because I'm still hungry. What am I missing???

Bandsters Rules
Veg, it's actually easier to quit smoking because you don't have cigs sitting around in your kitchen cabinets. For me it wasn't easy the first week but now I don't even think about it (ok, maybe a little).<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Food on the other hand has always been around for me, I eat mindlessly. Before I know it the food is in my mouth, I don't think twice about it. I have been heavy my entire life. I’m actually very surprised I haven’t gone over 300 lbs. I was banded on May 21st and today is my first fill. I know that everyone says it’s a way of life and that I have to work with the band but I guess I just don’t get it. I hope today will be the day I GET IT. Keep up the good work the rest of you that GET IT.

Tears on my pillow
I was banded on May 21st and i wonder if i made the right choice. I hope after my first fill on Monday I will feel the "LOVE" with my band that everyone is talking about. I've been heavy my entire life so I wonder if my eating habits can and will change with my first fill. If my current feelings for food are a sign of what's to come then I'm affraid i've made the wrong choice with the lap band. Cross your fingers for me!!!!!

Wish I did this sooner

eating obsessivly
Jillian, i had my surgery on the 21st of May. I ate like tomorrow would be my last day on earth. I was supposed to be on a 2 week pre-op diet but i just couldn't make myself do it. My doctor didn't come to see me after surgery so I'm not sure of what happen with the liver shrinking situation. Now I'm not hungry at all. 4 days after surgery i have lost 10 lbs. Tomorrow marks my 1 wk.

GP derailed me today!
if he knows all of this history then why is he doing this to you. I waiting for 3 years just so that my insurance would change. you have to beg with him. Tell him that you see this as the way to lose weight and your last chance. The entire world is doing it. It's not like you're doing the gastric bypass. Talk to him again. I'm sorry but it upsets me that someone else thinks they can make decisions for us. We know what we want and that's that!!!!
