The best hiccup advice I have ever heard was from a pharmacist. He said to blow out as much air as you can and, before breathing, take little sips of Water. Do this until you have to breathe. Repeat if necessary. It does need to be water. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

What snacks or food to eat on the go
autymn replied to Bizziebe27's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sf Hawaiian Punch packets are better to me than crystal light. I also make high Protein sf/ff pudding with unjury and eat Greek yogurt and the 4 ounce cottage cheeses. All high protein and good Snacks. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
What snacks or food to eat on the go
autymn replied to Bizziebe27's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Those were really good until they changed the formula. Now they are terrible. Like chewing cardboard. Medifast makes some good products, but not that one. Also their prices have gone up about five dollars in the last few years. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I was sleeved on March 29. I was just this minute thinking that I wish that some things didn't taste good to me or tasted bland. My taste buds have not changed at all. Of course, I haven't really tried to eat anything that's too sweet. Also, I don't seem to have any difficulty with any types of food I have tried. I ate part of a very nice steak last night and, for the first time, had two small bites of dessert just because it was my anniversary. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Insurance - 6 months or 6 visits?
autymn replied to Kelly1121's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Mine required "6 months" but it was actually 180 days. I ended up having to go to a 7th appointment because they had to be each month until after the 180 days. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
So what's the deal with fizzy drinks?
autymn replied to MamaRhea's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Obviously, from this post, different people and surgeons have very differing opinions. I am choosing to follow my surgeon's opinion of not drinking carbonated beverages, including Perrier. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
That's a great loss so far! You should add some vegetables, more Protein, and should have carbs at least in your shake. Carbs help our brain function and we do need some of them. Great job! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

unjury is "the gold standard" in the medical field, according to my nutritionist. I have added it to shakes and am now making tons of pudding with it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Our surgery dates were probably very similar. Mine was March 29. I am now getting close to 100 grams of Protein each day and between 800 and 900 cal per day. You did not mention your starting weight. I have lost 42 pounds since I started trying to lose weight in February and I have lost 23 pounds since surgery. Slow and steady. You don't want to feel full. You don't wait until you are hungry to eat. You should probably have a good talk with your surgeon's office or nutritionist. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Plastic Surgery! How Long Should I Wait?
autymn replied to Slim-Shady's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have heard that most insurance companies will not cover skin surgery unless there is a lot of documentation of problems resulting from excess skin. Have you looked into the prices? I felt lucky to finally have an insurance that covered weight-loss surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

So what's the deal with fizzy drinks?

Carbonation can stretch your stomach. So can the air from using straws. Carbonation and straws are the two things you need to say goodbye to permanently. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I think you used way too much Benefiber. I use it once a day and also take Colace. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Miralax needs a lot of Water to work and it does not work immediately. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

First, don't step on the scale every day. Second, get a good stool softener (I use generic colace) and maybe some glycerin suppositories. Next, make sure you get are getting your Protein and as much liquids as possible. The scale is not your friend and will play tricks on you. You might be up 2 pounds one day and down 4 the next. My sleeve was a week after yours and my doctor just told me not to expect to lose any weight at all before I return for my four week appointment. Don't be discouraged! You know that you're doing the right thing and it will show. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Is returning to work after 5 days reasonable?
autymn replied to ld33's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was planning to go in eight days later and I am so glad I did not. There is no way I could have done it. I took two weeks, though, and the doctor said that that was even not what people usually do. I had to fill out FMLA papers because they said anything more than three days is an FMLA situation. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Glycerin suppositories are the quickest. My doctor said I should not go more than three days without. I also add Benefiber to at least one shake each day. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Lower left back pain 6 days post op?
autymn replied to breezy25's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My lower back on my right side hurts. It almost feels bruised, but it is not. My two week appointment is tomorrow, so I will definitely be asking. I was wondering about kidneys, too. Why are you drinking clear shakes? Yuck. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Hi there. I also did Medifast. It's amazing and I lost 70 pounds in less than 5 months. A few months later, I changed jobs and fizzled out on Medifast so that I could be social with my new coworkers. Took a while, but gained back 65 of those pounds. My problem has not been losing weight, but keeping it off. I learned how to lose and gain like a champ, but never how to maintain. As far as sleeve regrets, I just had mine on 3/29. On about day 4, I had a feeling of "what did I do to my body?!" That has passed, though....at least for now. I think the sleeve will be a great tool for me. I know it doesn't solve everything, but should help keep me in check. Vomiting is something I would like to avoid, for sure. Good luck! 5 days post op - No BM - can't get ahold of doc
autymn replied to breezy25's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Probably all from the pain meds. They don't want you to go more than 3 days. Benefiber is good to add daily, but doesn't have immediate results. They recommend milk of magnesia and mirolax. Glycerin suppositories give the most immediate results. Good luck. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
