  1. Hi, My surgery date was 3.16.16. Pretty quickly I began losing weight and achieved my weight goal in November 2016. My weight has stayed pretty close to 166-172 lbs since then but in the late 2 months my weight has jumped to 181 lbs. I am very concerned and afraid of this. Last month I weighed myself and was 181 lbs and Tuesday it was the same. I have ramped my excercise back up and clamped back down on the foods I am eating again. Has anyone had anything like this happen? Were you just as terrified? What reasons were you given as to what is a factor of the weight gain. Any tips anyone can give me to get rid of those 10 lbs? Thanks a Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Surgiversary

Hi everyone. Thursday will be 1 year surgiversary. I am over the moon that I have made it so far. That I have made so much progress. But at the same time, I am very concerned about my food. I am still weighing all of my food and will not eat anymore after that weighed food. Even if I still want more/still hungry. Is anyone else going through struggles with food at this late stage? Thanks in advance everyone!

    Almost 4 weeks post op

Hi grateful, I am very glad for you. It's great to hear when some is having a great journey. I went through a number of bariatric Vitamin before finding one that worked for me. My center set things up with a company called BariActiv. They send me my Multivitamins, calcium, Iron and b12 spray. You center would have to call for you because the b12 is actually a prescription. What is great about it is, it is mail order. They just charge my flex spending card every month (if the price changes any they call before they charge you) and mail the to me. Each month I find a little box at my doorstep and it's great. It's definitely worth a try. They also come in chewable/dissolvable one or tablets/capsules. It chewable aren't bad just time consuming. I now use the tablets and it's super easy. I just called the company and told them I want the tablets and they changed it. I hope this was helpful for you and maybe others. It might be a fine line...

Pierogies, eh? I haven't even thought about them since my surgery. I loved them fried up in butter with onions. I guess if I made some of my own and mixed in some protein powder, I could just about justify them. Do you do a lot cooking with your protein powder? I am not sure I can, I have to use a vegan powder and it does not come in a unflavored version. Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App

It might be a fine line...

I also re-learned that lesson the other day. I had some pierogies and ate maybe a bite or two too many. So at the is point, I open the fridge to put away the sour cream and I see my bite sized pumpkin pies. I think to myself why not. Well "why not" turned out to a giant leap over that fine line. I spent the next 30-40 minutes feeling as if my pouch was going to burst. I promised myself that one more thing would not happen anymore. I will stick to my 5 oz of food (2oz Protein and 3 oz of fiber/veggies) this is my go to about of food. We all have to figure out where our fine line is and how to not cross it, I know I still think like a "fat kid" sometimes (I must eat it all, that does look like enough food, I want to have this with my food too) but I am still learn how to turn that "fat kid" into a healthy one. 9. Hi everyone. Up until this point (9 months post op) everytime I've had a weigh in (only weighing at a doctor's appointment, I've had weight loss. Tuesday I had a pcp appointment about 30 days after my last weigh in and I had gained 3 lbs. I know that the rest of the world thinks it is insignificant but as we all know, it is huge. I am still very vigilant about what I consume. I weigh just about everything I eat and if I can not, I usually only eat a couple of bite and fill very full. I haven't had fast food (maybe a few fries from a friend's meal) since before the surgery. I sometimes have candy but try very hard to make sure it is sugar free and low caloric. Has anyone else experienced this and what can I do you reverse this and continue with weigh loss? Guaranteed, I had already hit my goal weight and just a couple of lbs of it right now but I can no loss this momentum. Thanks everyone Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App

    Small weight gain

You've reached you goal weight, which is fabulous. It's understandable that you think the three pounds are a huge change, but they really aren't. When there is apparent weight gain, there's a reason. There are also two possibilities that you haven't gained anything: - You were on a different scale. Not all scales are the same. - Your menstrual cycle might account for the gain. It doesn't necessarily happen each month. If the regain is real, your own words suggest that you may no longer be as diligent with food-tracking as you think. - Weighing "just about everything" is not the same as weighing everything. Have you not been measuring more often than you realize? - Depending on what the food is, "only a couple of bites" can be a whole lot. It matters how you define "couple". It matters whether you're biting broiled chicken or fettuccine Alfredo. The frequency matters, too. - There's a definite difference between "haven't had fast food" and "maybe a few french fries..." Those few fries can amount to a mountain over a short time. - To "try very hard" to stick to sugar-free candy is more of the same vagueness. Those extra bites here and there add up. They sneak up. While you're wanting to maintain your weight, it's just as important to keep exact records as it was to lose the weight from the beginning. It's fine to have some candy or fast food if you like, but whatever the amount, they should be included in your tracker. You know all of this because you learned how to lose weight. Keeping it off is an ongoing project. When it comes to my food, the only things I do not weigh are the items that I didn't forsee I was going to eat away from home. Everything I eat at home or pack for my lunches are weighed and tracked. Those items that I eat just a bite or two of are tracked as well. I've had a couple of fries twice in over a year. This is why I have chosen to not have a scale at home. The two last weigh ins have been on the same scale. Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App

    Need Encouragement and Reassurance.

So I believe that everything you are feeling is completely normal. It is a major milestone in your life. The months and weeks leading up to my sleeve, I was so excited and maybe a tad nervous. At about 2 days before and I was a nervous wreck. Even burst into tears while in pre surgery. You can always ask the doctors or anesthesiologist during this time for something to help relax you the day of. Following the surgery, I woke up just fine. Of course there was pain but it varies from person to person. I had a friend that said he was hardly in any pain and stopped the pain meds a day or so later and others say they took longer. I took them for about two weeks, mostly when I moved around a lot. Everyday you get strong and doing more things. For me one of the hardest things was the 2 weeks post op of just full liquids, it got old fast lol. I wish you the best of luck and hope that this is helpful. 19. Hi everyone! Well as of 11.9.16 (just under 8 months post WLS) I hit my goal weight. SW: 256 CW: 166. I have not been this weight since I was 23 years old. I think that I will have a better body and health at the age of 40 than I was a 21. How long has it taken some of you to hit your goal weight? Has anyone been told by those around you that you have lost weight too fast? I just had to share the news with everyone here. I know that everyone would understand my excitement unlike those in my life that have not had the surgery! Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App

I felt the same way, try taking pics every 10 lbs. Goal weight achieved!

In the beginning, I almost never exercised, some in part that I had a lot of nausea, vomiting and diarrhea but also due to laziness. After a whilr I started working out 3-5 days a week and I have picked up running. Great feeling. The only other thing I do is weigh everything I eat but still listen to my body about where to stop eat (can be a struggle something still, especially if it's very tasty lol) Just keep plugging along and you'll make it!
