Hello, sleeve date coming up 4/11/16...need insight! Post op, liquids, where you hungry? Any regrets? I'm nervous now and I'm not usually... anyone think of backing out? Tired of yoyo diets, being the fat mom, buying bloomers and needing a beach towel to shower. I know I can do this but suddenly wonder is this the right thing. Anyone else go through that? Thank you!

Being nervous and having second thoughts are pretty typical, you've got lots of company. Sometimes I think that after all the appointments and testing and anxiety over insurance approval, once that's done, there is nowhere for all that energy to go except into worrying about all the "what if's".
I'll be four weeks postop tomorrow. I eat because I know I need to, but I haven't been hungry once. I had a couple setbacks early on, but I'm doing fine now. No regrets.
If you read many posts here, you'll see that some folks have an easier postop course than others; the thing to remember is that everyone is different. Good luck!

At smom13 I am 4 years post op, have been at my goal weight since one year after my surgery, didn't have it done until I was 58 and my only regret was not doing it sooner! As I think most people will say here. I can tell you that time really and truly does fly and soon you will be a veteran, at goal weight, happy, healthy and cheering someone else on. I kept a blog every Sunday of my first year (and turned it into a book) and when I look back on that time now it seems a bit surreal because now I have been living the life of a normal weight person and this is who I truly always was....sadly I was just trapped inside a fat body most of my life. I suspect you, like most of us will feel so much happier and more free from the life you have now. Rock on and get it done!!!

    Sky diving
Not paying $50 for a plain black polo just because I shop at the Fat Man's Shop
Travel - Up until recently, I've never had the urge. For some reason now tho, the thought appeals...
Being stared at because I'm so f***ing awesome, not because I'm so f***ing fat!!!
I'm gonna have a crack at a Segway..
I'm also gonna dress like a f***ing dandy!!! I'm just gonna buy clothes that I think are GOLD!!
Jeans - Ok, I've got a pair and I'm ready to slip them on. I've just gotta find a reason to go out...
I'll add more as I think of them...
There are some more 'personal' ones that I may add later as well...
    See ya!!

I'm already at goal now, but the main things I was looking forward to once I was a normal weight were riding amusement park rides and starting running again. I have done both since getting to goal and could not be happier. In fact, I'm spending a week at Dollywood the week after next and I'm running in my first half marathon on April 24th!

Family pictures, definitely! Also being able to take my 5 year old on rides at carnivals, going on hikes with my older kids, just feeling comfortable in public...

I haven't heard of anyone having to do a "bowel" prep.......only liquid or low carb diets to shrink your liver (not everyone's surgeon requires this)....and Clear liquids right before surgery..........most everyone looses during the low carb or liquid diets.....you probably want to talk to your surgeons office to make sure they understand you're concerned about loosing....they may be able to set your mind at rest.....I know for me at that stage my insurance has already approved so it won't matter, but I'm not sure about you. You should check with you doc.

I had someone tell me yesterday "well, you don't weigh that much". I have 70+ lbs to lose. And frankly at this point I don't care what others think.

Good luck with everything. I am scheduled on 4/18, and I can't wait to start a new life. My journey has been a long time coming, and I am looking forward to losing about 175 lbs. (I've already lost 80 lbs on my own). My journey so far, has given me a chance to analyze my past eating habits, and I look forward to a healthier future. I wish you all the success in the world.
