LOL. As a nurse, I will just say you'd be amazed at what some people will do.
But yes, I totally agree. Sex wasn't on the table (so to speak) for a couple of weeks after, and I had a good recovery.

I had sex a week after a C-section. My husband wasn't too keen on the idea, but I told him to lay on his back, put his knees together, tip his hips, and shut the hell up.
    He did as told.
I unintentionally sprayed him with milk.
    I did not take pictures.

GOOOOAAAALLLLL!!!!!! When I updated my weight this morning..it's 150.4, I guess the little tickers below use rounding so even though I'm .4 over my goal it says I reached my goal today!!! How thrilling is that???!!! At just a little over 7 months I've lost 102 pounds! I am so happy! This is the best Christmas present ever. 150 looks and feels like the perfect weight for me, but I think I'll keep going just a little bit so I'll have a little bit of a cushion....maybe to 145....I think too much more than that I'll start to look sickly.
I'll post some good goal pictures in the next few days.....it's Christmas time so I'm sure I'll have some good ones from some of the family gatherings coming up.
Thank you to everyone here who have been so supportive! Yay! I did it!!!!!

OzRoo reacted to Alex Brecher in Management of Reflux After Sleeve using Stretta
Reflux is one of the possible side effects of Sleeve Gastrectomy. Luckily, it can usually be treated by taking PPIs. Taking PPIs long term isn't advisable though and that's why I am such a strong believer in stretta.

OzRoo reacted to mrsNilla in How I got to where I am today
So, today I'm exactly 4 weeks out, so maybe it's time for a quick update.
My stall did break, but how slow can you go?!? I have lost 9.9 lbs in 4 weeks and I was so proud of reaching 400-500 cal and around 50 g of Protein a day.
I had my first check up last Friday with my hospital nut, nurse and surgeon. I was so happy before I went in to see the nut, but that didn't last long. I told her about my Fluid intake issues and showed her my app where I log everything. She questioned if it truly is everything and gave me a lecture that I have to reach my fluid goals (yes, working on it every day), increase my Protein to 70-80 g, eat more good fats and get to a total of 1200 cal!! In what universe?!?
She also gave me some samples of high calorie Soups and the next sentance was promoting zero calorie Protein drinks... Hmm... I really don't know what to make of her.
So I concentrate on doing what I can, what feels good and make healthy choices.
My body scan did show some improvements, but the best news came from the surgeon. She cleared me for all exercise that isn't painful! Wohoo!! Also cleared for a full diet!
She adressed my slow weight loss and said at this point, anything from 6 lbs to 20 lbs is normal and she would order some extra tests if I was at the higher end of the scale. So at least something good, I'm in her normal range.
I have been having some nausea the last few days, but it's usually connected to eating. Which makes me eat even less and keeping longer distances in between.
But today has been a good day. I finished my whole Breakfast and no nausea yet. I have the whole day off, so I can concentrate on reaching my Fluid goal today. I slept well. And the scale showed a tiny step down, but I will take it! Any loss is a good loss!!
Already did some online shopping, so that boosted my spirits! Other than that I have some xmas baking to do, presents to deliver, but I'm ready to relax over the holidays.
So happy holidays to you all!!

Chronic GERD treatment is challenging for patients who have had a sleeve gastrectomy (SG).
In some patients, GERD is resolved after SG, but in others symptoms remain Nissen fundoplication surgery is not an option for SG patients due to altered anatomy Revisional surgery from the less invasive SG to Roux-En-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) has been the standard alternative for this challenging patient Patients who chose the SG, may want to avoid a revision to RYGB to control their GERD GERD medications (PPIs) if taken long-term may have a risk of significant side effects, including: osteoporosis, c.diff infections, kidney disease, heart disease and dementia For some patients, GERD symptoms are not completely controlled by PPIs Leaving chronic GERD uncontrolled can lead to Barretts Esophagus There is a clinical study currently enrolling patients on the management of reflux with stretta in patients who have had a sleeve gastrectomy.
Email Rebecca Meli rmeli@montefiore.org to be referred to a study site. Please let her know that you heard about it on BariatricPal! For complete study details go to: https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT02637713. What is Stretta - and why may Stretta be appropriate for GERD after bariatric surgery?
Stretta is an FDA cleared device that treats the muscle between the stomach and the esophagus with radiofrequency (RF) energy - it is indicated for the treatment of GERD.
Non-surgical treatment delivered through the mouth, that does not alter the anatomy Delivers low levels of RF energy to the muscle between the stomach and esophagus Studies show Stretta results in a thicker muscle, improved barrier and fewer reflux events More than 40 clinical studies show Stretta to be safe, effective and durable Having a Stretta procedure does not complicate future surgeries when necessary A study of Stretta in GERD patients after RYGB showed 71% with resolved symptoms

OzRoo reacted to Bufflehead in Vets: sleeve lasts only 9 months?!
@@gigiinDC the sleeve won't restrict your intake of liquids. Ever, When people are struggling to get fluids in immediately post-op it's because their stomach tissues are inflamed and swollen due to the trauma of surgery, not the sleeve itself.
You have to choose to restrict your intake of caloric liquids such as Soup. The sleeve won't do it for you.
As far as hunger goes, be sure that you aren't experiencing head hunger or excess stomach acid, which is common after sleeve surgery and feels like hunger. Some people do retain normal ghrelin production after the sleeve, but head hunger and excess acid are more common.

    @@judy vsg
I am 9 months post op, and for Myself, I noticed that my hunger returned after 6-7 months.
It was a shock, however I still have the restriction and can have 1/2 cup dense Proteins with more non-starchy vegetables.
My stomach completely healed after 6 months (most do), and this was a sign that my stomach was healed from a "baby" stomach to an "adult" stomach.
I can now eat food that I couldn't before, and some slider foods/junk don't have a violent reaction for me.
I can also eat chocolate now, which in the past made me very ill.
So, as mentioned above, the restriction is still there, just need to watch what I eat, and if I indulge in a slider, I then step up my Proteins, Water and exercise, and don't touch the sliders.
I also went back to my PPI (I was supposed to be on it for 12 months post op, had terrible reflux) that I weaned myself off it after 6 months.
I was told re: Silent Reflux, and I had the symptoms of it, such as unusual large hunger and some acid burning.
I take my Nexium every 2nd day these days, and it is helping me.
I still have to pay attention to my thyroid issues, as some of my Thyroxine dosage changes affected my hunger levels.
I am still shrinking even though my scales have not moved much lately, my rings, my clothes show me that I am still losing inches.
Good eating habits are very important, and it is a life-long commitment after the sleeve.
I have to watch sugary carbs and stay away from them.
So, the sleeve still works, just the stomach fully heals, the nerve endings and other trauma to the stomach heals, and with it hunger can return, as well as bad food choices may not elicit a violent reaction anymore.
Hence, another stage begins, the hard work of sticking to the correct food choices and sizes.
I can now also drink a half 1.5L bottle of Water in one go, can easily guzzle it these days.

Awesome fitness week for you. Congratulations!
And yes, it is now easy for me to eat around the sleeve, hence I know what I need to watch out for, and what to avoid if I want to stay at a healthy weight for me .... And how to fix it later if I fall off the wagon .....

That is why I still didn't understand how they think it was making fun of her when it was actually the term that caused the hilarity. 11/11/16: HW 380

I had surgery on March 7th. Last week I lost 80 lbs. This week I gained 4! I was so upset. I was trying to figure out how could this of happened. Then I realized that I was so busy baking for Christmas that I haven't been taking my meds. What a relief. Now I can get back on track.

I am a newbie here myself. My surgery is scheduled for December 30 and I have to agree with composed. Lately there have been many rants about bad choices others are making. I too can understand why many may get upset but all newbies shouldn't be judged by the poor choices of others. Personally, I'm at point where I am afraid to ask questions and I have a lot. So those of you that choose to stay and give good advice, Thank you. It is appreciated.
