  1. lace131 I feel your pain. I was lucky enough to get a credit card from capital 1 with one year no interest. There were other loaning options with less favorable rates, which I was ready to pay if I had to. I was so desperate I was ready to borrow against my house if I had no other option. Before I investigated the surgery in Mexico I was even willing to go into debt the 25-30 grand that the surgery would have cost in the US. Keep trying to find a solution. Insurance companies are so frustrating! Sent from my VS880 using the BariatricPal App
  2. I self paid my band in Mexico almost 11 yrs ago. At the time I paid around 9,000 for the surgery. I went through all the trying to find the "sweet spot" and was never successful. A little over 4 months ago I made the decision to return to Mexico to have a revision from band to gastric. I paid around 6,000 to have the band removed and have gastric done. BEST DECISION EVER!!! dr. Ponce de leon in Tijuana through Bariatric Pal was a great experience. I borrowed the money and would do it again in a minute. Down 70lbs and going. I feel great! I wouldn't waste any more time trying to make the band work. You deserve to have a surgery that works for you. Good luck. Sent from my VS880 using the BariatricPal App
  3. I agree, after spending 11 years with a worthless band I would have never revised to the sleeve. In less than 5 months I have had more success with gastric bypass than I did with all the years with the band. I just get happier everyday that I had it done. Not loosing

I'm at about the same time out as you and have lost right at 60lbs. My body does the same thing. I won't lose for a couple of weeks y then I'll drop 3-4 lbs. I've lost on average a little more than 10lbs a month. For me 10lbs a month continuously is awesome! Sent from my VS880 using the BariatricPal App
  5. I do not have any regrets. I feel great and have from the beginning. I was walking the halls of the hospital the next day and walking on the beach just a couple of days later. I have fought my weight my entire life and for once I'm losing at a constant rate. I eat everything, just not a lot. I try to get in a good amount of Protein, but other than that I eat what I want. I was tracking my food, but just stopped because I don't want to spend the rest of my life thinking about food. I'm am trying now to listen to my body and feed it what it needs. 6. I would never recommend anyone have the band! I know there are some who have had success, but no one that I know personally. I have felt great since my revision and wished I had looked into having it along time ago. I'm now seeing my efforts pay off. Sent from my VS880 using the BariatricPal App
  7. How much have you lost with the bypass if you don't mind me asking? And how long did it take?I am on process of fulfilling insurance requirements in order to get revision to RNY and I am nervous I won't lose will even with bypass. I have extremely slow metabolism, I hit a plateau 2nd week after lap band surgery, hearing that the weight loss is slower after revision makes me very nervous. I have about 120 lbs I want to lose to be at goal. Guess I need some emotional pick me up here I have lost 60 lbs since November 2015 with the revision. Best decision I have ever made! 8. I was banded in July 2005. I was never successful with the band. I might have lost 20 lbs all together with the band. I did a lot of dieting, just as I had my entire life, but I would only lose while I was eating 500 calories a day and then gain it back. At one point I was even heavier than when I started. I weighed 309 the day of my lap band. Eating bad things was fine, but as soon as I tried to eat lean Protein or vegetables it was uncomfortable going down or would get stuck. I felt like a failure once again. How was it possible to be such a loser that I couldn't even be successful at weight loss even after wl surgery. After 10 years lost with the band I decided to go to Mexico to have a revision to gastric done. The insurance that I have will not cover anything to do with obesity. The great news is after the revision the weight has been coming off steadily. I weighed 288 the day of surgery and at a little over 4 1/2 months I'm down to 227! The gastric has been better than I could have imagined. Anyone who has had the band and not had success please don't waste any more time. I spent 10 years being disgusted with myself because I didn't lose the weight that everyone bragged about, I've since seen that there are many of us who weren't successful. I eat about the same as I did with the band, but now I actually lose weight! Sent from my VS880 using the BariatricPal App
