I too am so sorry about your sister. It breaks my heart.
the friends here who are advising to only focus on Protein are right. I’m not an expert. But I’m doing well, almost 5 months in. Main thing to think about besides protein is STOP ALL SUGAR, sweet drinks, bread, Desserts, fake sugars.
ive found that fat alone doesn’t stop my loss of fat ever. Full fat diary and meat don’t hurt me and taste fantastic. Healthy fats have a place with your protein. Don’t eat low fat anything. Eating a piece of juicy hamburger or a full fat unsweetened greek yogurt will keep you losing weight AND help you feel full and satisfied.
All sweet carbs make you crave sugar and that’s is what you do not want. A week or two without sugar and you will lose the desire for it. No bread, no fruit, no sweets. 85% chocolate is ok. Potatoes and sweet potatoes even with butter are fine. I promise you, giving up all sweetness really works and after you kick the habit, it’s painless.
good luck sweetie, you will lose the rest of your weight. And your sister will be proud.

I'm so sorry to hear about your sister. That's heart breaking. I am not too far out, but the first step I think you should take is to call your surgeon/NUT and get them involved in your plans. I know some people swear by doing a pouch reset, but I think a good first step would be to start tracking your food and reviewing your macros to make sure you are prioritizing Protein. Cut out all the caloric drinks and make sure 95% of what you are eating has nutritional value. You can definitely get back on track - even if you have stretched your sleeve some, the stomach will adapt to smaller meals by contracting. You can do this!! Good luck!

Im so so sorry for your loss. It's understandable but you needed something familier to comfort you and that was food. Nothing will ever bring your sister back. But focusing on getting your self healthier will surely help you emotionally. You have lost alot of weight so far so you can do it.

    Pure Protein ..
    Fish . Steak. Whatever

With a side of veg or salad.< br>
Maybe string cheese and the like for a snack..

This keeps me on track and I have a reduced appetite.

If tracking seems over whelming at first. If your sticking to dense protein first. And a few bites if veggies you should feel the restriction to stop.

Here if you need anything . I'm only 4 months out so not experienced.

I lost my brother a long time ago. And I know the pain. It's no help now but I feel it has gotten easier

It’s been a while since I’ve posted on this app. I just want to say to everyone post wls, you are successful. Take this journey and make it your own. Be selfish. Put yourself and your health first. Hold yourself accountable and trust the process. Surgery doesn’t make the emotional eating goes away. It doesn’t make it bad to eat those things that aren’t healthy. I fell into that trap of thinking I was exempt and could slide by. But I got myself together and I began to focus on healthy living.
I hope this picture inspires you to go forth and become a more healthier you. Take advantage of this new lease on life. Envision how you want your journey to be and make it happen.

I also got to that part but my first thought was "Holy crap, she can eat a lot!" - and these are not your typical "slider foods". If she doesn't spread it out over an hour or longer I'd say the amount is quite a lot.
That cheeseburgers, fries and coke are not a good choice for various reasons (regardless of how fat or thin a person is), that's another story.

I got to the part where you said you're eating a double cheeseburger, fries and a coke and I think I found your problem...No offense but I think you need some tough love right now..Youre eating like complete crap and I hope you realize that..No amount of surgery is going to help you until you clean that diet plan up...

To me, if I can feel the food right under my sternum, that means I overate. Remember, you are not looking for "full" any more, you are looking for satisfied. You don't want to feel stuffed, just no longer hungry (physically hungry, not head-hunger hungry).
I doubt you have stretched your sleeve. To be completely honest, I think that if anything is hindering your weight loss, it is the type of food you are eating, not the amount. Trail mix, chips, rice, toast -- these are high calorie foods that don't offer much in terms of either nutrition or satiety. High carb foods like chips, rice, and toast will just make you hungrier and you will find yourself wanting to eat again a couple of hours after eating them. Things like chicken salad have more nutrition, but if packed with a lot of mayo or Salad Dressing, can be extremely caloric, even in relatively small amounts.
It doesn't look to me like you are eating a lot of lean Protein or green veggies. Those are lower calorie, lower carb, and will keep you full longer. Instead of chicken salad, just have chicken breast. Instead of a sausage patty, have some pork loin. snack on deli meat or asparagus spears, not chips or trail mix. Good luck!

So much wrong here. First of all, you speak of WLS as the easy way out, yet you mention suicide. Please... (smh...)

Anyways, for the vast majority of us who need it, this surgery is NOT a mistake. You started your journey with a BMI of only 38. This is definitely on the borderline and it was your surgeon's responsibility to mention that this might not be appropriate surgery for someone like you. If there is any fault it is with the surgeon.

You are still in the "honeymoon phase" where you can't eat much and the weight falls off you. Since you had this surgery as a moderately obese person and have lost fast, you are already at or below goal. There are things you can do to slow your weight loss until your stomach (naturally) stretches. It will never get back to the size it was, but could stretch to be able twice the size it is now.

Drink your calories. There are liquids and slider foods (crackers, potato chips, others that turn into a "slurry" and go right through your pouch) that people use to "cheat" the sleeve. If you are truly unhappy that you are thin and healthy, you could do this.

I think the bigger issue here is that, you are a food addict like many of us, and have used food your whole life to deal with stress. The recent tragic events in your life have overwhelmed you and the fact that you can no longer turn to food is short circuiting your brain. Please see a professional and try to work out this issue- it is a big one! I feel for you because I am exactly the same position with my addiction. I'm working on it, but I realize it will take some time to overcome this life long struggle. I can do this- and so can you!!!

You are sabotaging yourself by reverting back to liquids and lowering your calories. You're putting your body into starvation mode and teaching it how to survive on less and less calories. This is unhealthy and certainly not conducive to weightloss and especially long term maintenance. Not sure what kind of expectations you had, but 9 pounds in one month is a good rate of loss. Plus you are right about where most people experience the infamous "three week stall". Do a search and you will find hundreds of posts on it. Totally normal and part of the process, as is gaining a few pounds along the way.
You say you drink Water till you're nauseous. How much are you drinking? It should be 1/2 your body weight in ounces. If you are having a hard time with water (I couldn't drink plain water for over 6 months), you can try herbal tea, sports drinks, water flavor drops, infused water, milk, or any other non carbonated, low cal beverage. How about Protein? Every program is different, but 80+ g/day works for me.
just stick with the program and stay off the scale for a month if you need to. Gauge your progress with NSVs and how your clothes fit.

My surgery was done in Nov. 2016. At first I thought "I got this, this is easy to do" but not true. I do not count my food intake. When I remember to take my Vitamins, I take them. I do my morning Vega shake, a regular lunch and dinner the size of my palm. I am losing weight but do not exercise because I never have time. Physically I feel fine the only affect I see is my hair is falling out like crazy. I know I'm not doing what needs to be done. I find that keeping track of everything is alot of work that I do not have time for. I dont know anymore. And I missed my doctor's appointment... #spiralingdownhill #advice #please

You all are really helping me. I'm a back slider. On March 21st, 2017 will mark one year since my surgery. I started eating bad after my sister passed away in September 2016. I've eaten sweets, carbs, sugary stuff, etc. I haven't gained weight but I'm afraid if I continue on this path, I will. I need to "reset" my sleeve as well. I promised myself I will start with a liquid diet for 2 weeks and then go to soft foods and then the protein dense foods again to get me back on track. Do any of you think that this is wise? I need help!!!

What an amazing supportive group of woman all of you are! Thank you! Today I went back to basics but not the hardcore broth and Water diet I think I tried to do a week ago in order to "reset" my pouch.

My pouch is still tiny it's hat I've been stuffing it with slider food and not eating meat / Protein or doing 3 meals a day.

Today I did my egg omelette with a bit of shaved ham, lunch a protein bar and dinner I'm gonna have some cooked steak water all day!

I feel full and satiated and full of energy. Funny how that works! Lmao.

You can't live forever on a liquid diet. That is just fad dieting. The best thing about having WLS is you never have to fad diet again.
A liquid diet works against your tool. A Protein Shake would be like drinking Water to me and I would still be hungry.
Dense Protein is our friend post op. If you had 4 ounces or so of steak would be full for hours with no desire to snack.

Hi there! So my recommendation is to go back to a pure Liquid Protein diet. I'd do that for 4 weeks and then go through the post surgical protocol diet. I'd go back to the calorie restriction.

I lost my 1st 100lbs doing a medical liquid diet. 700-800 calories a day, drink 5 shakes and at least 64 ozs of Water. You need to hit the Reset Button again.

It's OK, You are gonna be OK. YOu know how strong you are since you did this before. You know what to do it's just hard to not satisfy our food urges. Try to remember what it felt like to wake up full of energy, that bounce and pride in your step, feeling excited to be outside. There are so many great things out there for us. Try to focus on that, not on the fact that you might have back-slid a little. You can take care of this!! You totally got this.

You have the knowledge, the tools, now you just need to pull yourself up and do what you need to. It's OK to to have a set back. It's OK to fail sometimes. Honestly. Just get yourself back on track and you are gonna feel AMAZING!!!

    @cockapoomom
Are you actually hungry? Is it head hunger or is acid?
I have a lot more head hunger in the past few months but my physical hunger isn't there. I just want to eat more.

If you have to have eat sweets, get Protein Bars. They are expensive, and most of them will give you gas so that should help slow your sweets urge and at least you eat getting some Protein.
You can try protein brownies. eatmeguiltfree.com

I think it is easier to work with your weaknesses than against them. So find protein sweet replacements for your sweets cravings. Want to snack get the Quest protein chips.

Cook steak, chicken, pork cop, cut them into strips that you can eat with your fingers.

Just replace your problem items with good items.
I'm not sure how you feel at this point, I am not quite out as far as you, but I don't really feel like a WLS patient at all. I'm pretty much a regular person with just a smaller stomach. Once you get further out from surgery I feel like a lot of WLS eating advice is useless. A nutritionist is just going to tell you what you already know. You have to see the patterns in your behavior and figure out a way to work around them.
One thing I did to break bad habits at work on my 10 hours shifts was to just fast for the shifts for 2 days. I realized I was just eating because I was bored or my co-workers were eating. So I channeled that into something else.
