  1. Stay with purees or soft foods. The important thing will be to measure portion sizes and stick with recommended amounts. Take it slow - there's no rush.
  2. @@BibisMom I would concentrate on protein and not so much fruit right now. 1-2 ozs is what my plan suggests. Depending on what I was eating - I could have eaten more.
  3. @@ella37 You are probably losing inches. Your weight will come off - just stick to the plan! This is not like dieting. Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App

    Time between eating and drinking

I would talk to your surgeon. You will get dehydrated at this rate.

    Sleeved yesterday!

It's set. It goes right down and counts as fluids.

1 week weigh in post op

Your surgeon should not even have a expected loss for this first few weeks. You probably gained right after surgery. I came home 9lbs heavier. A 5lb loss is excellent.
  7. Be sure you are taking a PPI (acid reducer). Start drinking as soon as you get up and keep sipping throughout the day. 2 shakes with high protein will get you the protein you need and should count towards your liquids too. Find non caloric drinks that you like - tea, crystal light, Powerade Zero, broth, sf popsicles, sf Jello. Just keep sipping.

    I don't feel full....

It's not at all unusual that you wouldn't feel full on liquids. It's also common to gain weight with surgery - with the IVs and swelling.
  9. Definitely take a PPI and drink lots of fluids. I think I was hungry too but I'm 10 days out and not hungry (except head hunger).

    Failure/Failing

@@coloreyes Congrats on your loss so far! I had a few sessions of therapy pre-op to deal with this type of issue. I believe it helped (although I'm only 10 days out so that's yet to be proven). I agree about cutting out carbs - they just make you crave them more. Go back to tracking - focus on protein and getting in enough fluids. You have come this far - you can do it!

    She spoils me!

    That looks delicious!!! Enjoy!

    Ketosis?

How far out are you? Be sure you are drinking enough fluids. The bad taste could also be GERD. You need to be getting enough protein and fluids. The weight may slow - you're probably losing inches even if scale doesn't move.

    Diarrhea

Are you drinking milk or shakes with lactose? You may have developed a lactose intolerance. Have they done cultures or only blood work?

    Not doing so good

I highly recommend therapy. Take it one day at a time. If this was easy - none of us would end up needing surgery. Work on eating high Protein, low carb. There's plenty of great tasting food you can have. Working with a good therapist will help.
  15. No. The purpose is to shrink your liver and make surgery safer. Alcohol is not allowed during this phase.

    Paralyzed and VGS

@@laylalayla Do you have any blood thinners to take during the flight? How about compression stockings? It's a shame you're not getting the after care you need. In my first week post-op I was on protein shakes and liquids (water, Powerade Zero, decaf tea, broth, sugar free jello, sugar free popsicles. I could take my regular meds as long as they weren't long acting or capsules. Tablets had to be smaller than an M&M. No NSAIDS. Be sure to get in at least 64ozs of fluids. Good luck!
  17. I made my own broth. Use can or box broth and boil celery, onion, carrots in it and add spices. I used salt, pepper, garlic, onion powder, paprika. Much better than store bought. You'll be so much better off sticking with the pre-op diet. It's brutal but prepares your body for surgery and you mind for post-op. Good luck to you all! I'm 10 days post-op.

    Volume

Just because you can doesn't mean you should. Be sure to stick with suggested serving size on your plan.
  21. I am having the same problem but nowhere near 75gms of protein. I just ordered Genepro unflavored protein to add to my mushy foods or drinks. I'm drinking Isopure pre-made protein drink for now.

    1 month post op- sleeve

Water (non caloric drinks) are key to weight loss. I would try getting even more than 64ozs. You've done great so far!
  23. KristenLe

    Realistic water intake

I was able to get 64ozs on day 4 but I don't think that's common. Try different things - different temps. Hot tea went down better at first. I also found Powerade Zero good. Just keep sipping.

    BEST protien shake option

Right now I'm drinking Isopure Apple Melon Protein Drink. Very odd taste but I'm able to drink it and desperate for Protein.
