  1. @LadyJustice007. Do you have a counselor? Please go to a counselor and support group to discuss these feelings. I know alot of people seem to have a hard time right after surgery and it gets better but your situation seems much worse. Praying for you!

    Pre surgery weight gain

I would encourage reading this book. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0054RXXS0/ref=dp-kindle-redirect?ie=UTF8&btkr=1
  3. I so look forward to being in this "place"! My spine is a mess and I constantly " throw out" my back and end up in bed for days. Thank you for sharing your success - it gives me hope!
  4. A few salted almonds might do the trick for salty. I have celery with sour cream dip almost every night and I am trying to kick that habit before surgery. You could have a few olives or pickles too. I'm a salty snacks at night.

    Eating the same meals

Oh I'm so glad to see you can eat tomatoes. I was afraid they'd be too acidic. That's one of my foods I'll be sad if I can't eat after surgery.

    55% gastric sleeve!?

In what I've read the sleeve operation can remove anywhere from 50-80% of your stomach. Your Surgeon may remove less than someone with more to lose.

    Weight Loss Pill

I can't imagine that is true. Most weight loss pills have significant and dangerous side effects.

    ANY QUICK MEAL SUGGESTIONS

@@MzStockton Be careful of the sodium in those frozen meals.
  9. @@Amurillo04 I'm 47 years old and only starting on my WLS journey. I wish I took this step when I was younger. No matter what diet of the month I was trying - I never lost "enough weight" and ended up gaining everything back plus a little more. Every year I found myself larger and larger - then I started with the health issues that go along with being obese and I finally kicked myself in the a@@ and said enough already - I need help - I can't do this on my own. Good for you for doing this when you are still young! :-)

    New here

It depends on what your pre-op diet plan is. Not all are the same. What can you eat?

How did you handle pre-op diet?

This book was recommended to me and it's been helpful so far. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0054RXXS0/ref=dp-kindle-redirect?ie=UTF8&btkr=1

    Pureed food suggestions

Thank you. I haven't had surgery yet but I'll be sure to be careful afterwards. I just don't think I'll be pureeing regular food. The person who posted before me might be who you meant to warn. :-).

    No if, ans or butt?

    We call it "Noassatall" Syndrome.
  15. I don't think a few bites are going to be an issue. This next week be sure to stick with your pre-op diet and all should be fine! Good luck! I am reading this book recommended to me by someone on this site and by my Psychiatrist and I'm using my pre-op time (6 long months) to learn how to stop emotional eating. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0054RXXS0/ref=dp-kindle-redirect?ie=UTF8&btkr=1

    Getting sick......on water.

I found chicken stock that has 9gms protein in a serving. I haven't tried it yet but imagine it's no different than other broths.
  17. I initially went to the surgeon for lap band. I had no interest in the other options. After more research and after speaking with the surgeon - I decided to go with the sleeve. The band has a 50-60% chance of requiring a second surgery (band slips, erosion, etc) and the lowest % of weight loss. I'm sure there are many success stories but I decided my best option was the sleeve.

    Pureed food suggestions

I don't think I'll be able to do pureeing my food. I'm going to try things like scrambled egg, beans, cottage cheese, hummus, canned tuna, canned chicken, yogurt, soft cheese, soup, ground beef. Remember to get enough protein. Watch out for carbs and sugars. Maybe its from working in a nursing home and hospital for years but the thought of pureeing normal food makes me want to gag.
  19. The curves are so much hotter than skin & bones! You look great! Your posts always make me laugh too - great sense of humor! I am still laughing about your crotch swelling comments.

    Vacation season...What are your plans?

I won't be having surgery until Sept/Oct. :-( This July we are spending a week at Lake Winnipesaukee NH. We spend time there every Summer (my boyfriend's family has a house there) but this year we are renting a house with my parents and hopefully other family. I'm also taking the week of Memorial Day off to do some gardening and planting flowers and to just have a staycation at home.

    Goodbye to beer and pizza?

Not that I'm pushing beer but have you tried any of the nitro beers? I'm wondering if they would be okay in small amounts?
  22. KristenLe

    Morning problems

That is probably the cause. You need to speak with your Surgeon about the nausea and be sure to get in your fluids and protein.

    Psych evaluation

They will ask about depression and anxiety but it is absolutely okay for you to be on meds as long as it's "controlled". They'll ask about hospitalizations for mental health reasons. They will want to know how you handle stress and emotional challenges particularly your eating during these times. Please be honest - they are there to make sure you are ready and can be successful. If they have concerns, they'll probably refer you to counseling but we all could use a little therapy anyway. Good luck and I'm very sorry about your Dad.
