  1. Biting my tongue before I get myself kicked off of BP for being "mean"! Attention seeking behavior drives me mad!

@Christinamo7 In this case - not worth it. Would be rewarding the behavior!

Then don't let it get to you. A support group type message board environment is the exact platform for attention-seeking behavior. Make no mistake that until you have your surgery, you cannot imagine some of the things you will go through. Some of these people are under stress they've never encountered, with hormones raging and God knows what else. So don't tell me that you have empathy for them. What you have is SYMPATHY. I admire your passion for helping others, so don't let it get you down. If you let it get to you, they have accomplished exactly what you are venting about. Take care. My best to you.

I didn't mean for that to come off as rude as it did. Please excuse my tone. No harm intended.

Weight gain after working out post up

@@michellem17 It could be Water retention. You will need more fluids when working out - so be sure to increase fluids and get your recommended Protein (or more since working out). Good luck.

    Craving ?!?

@@biglady904 I've heard many say they are craving things like salads and veggies and quite a few craving pickles! LOL Try drinking something more savory - like broth to see if it helps. You can also have pickle juice (I actually bought pickle juice popsicles - they sell them for hydration after working out). Hope you're doing well!
  4. @@guy17 Try adding something with electrolytes. On your full liquid diet, are you allowed creamed Soups (strained)? Try drinking more of the Protein shakes too. I am pre-op but I only have 7 days of full liquids and then purees. One thing to consider too - if you are on blood pressure meds - they may need to be adjusted. If you still get lightheaded - call your surgeon - they may allow you to add yogurt. Good luck!
  5. @@saphfyre14 What stage are you on? I'm pre-op but I'll still be on purees until week 7.

    Post intubation pain?!

@@Lindsay86 GERD medicine can cause that type of reaction? Weird. Did your PCP happen to check your sinuses? Hope the pain goes away soon.

    plateaus and other ungodly events.

@@tanktalken You're just tripping! ???? Weight fluctuates - you really can't go by the scale this early out! Stick to your plan and the weight will come off. Starting at a lower BMI than many of us - it could be a little slower. You'll get to your goal!

    Counting down the HOURS now!

Prayers for an easy surgery and recovery!
  12. Bra sizes are tough - there was a thread about this - some people lost band but not cup size, some actually increased cup size (hope I don't or I'll need a steel bra to lift them off my knees)! Lol. Some lost cup size and band and others stayed the same. And @@theantichick lmao at the uniboob!

    2 month results

@@alohagirl22 You started at a lower weight than many of us - so your loss will be slower (% will be very similar though). You can't compare yourself to others! Also - make sure to get enough Protein and fluids every day! Eating less will not help you lose faster - your body will go into starvation mode and hang on to the weight. However - 22 lbs in 2 months is excellent for someone starting at your weight. Stay strong!
  15. @@gina171 I had to go through 3 months of nutrition and psych/counseling. I was approved by insurance back in June (end of June). It took a while for my surgeon to submit the orders for the pre-op testing - apparently I'm the first person ready to go through the process at this new location and the staff weren't sure what the surgeon typically orders for pre-op testing. That finally happened last week. I go to the Miriam Hospital Weight & Wellness Center. They are a great program that has been around for years (Center of Excellence) but the site I go to just opened in March and I seem to be the guinea pig to get kinks out of the process. Hopefully things go smoothly from here out.
  16. @@Hiraeth You can have caffeine free (unsweetened tea), sugar free popsicles, flavored waters (crystal light). My handout says anything I can see through (even juice is on it). Good luck with your surgery!!!
  17. @@RedCheeks I went to the nutritionist at my Bariatric Program. They are a comprehensive program that has nutritionists, psychiatry, psychologists, social workers, physiologists who work along with the surgeon. I found this more helpful - the nutritionist was able to help me prepare for how I will need to eat post surgery. If your surgeon has a nutritionist - I would see if that counts towards your medically supervised diet (Cigna may have specific requirements that it is your PCP).

    Can't get protein in

@@alohagirl22 Protein is not stored in the body. It is necessary for metabolism and burning fat. If you do not get enough protein - your body will break down your muscle mass for protein. Google protein deficiency for more information. Eating too little protein can result in these symptoms as well: A sluggish metabolism Trouble losing weight Trouble building muscle mass Low energy levels and fatigue Poor concentration and trouble learning Moodiness and mood swings Muscle, bone and joint pain Blood sugar changes that can lead to diabetes Slow wound healing Low immunity
  19. @@gina171 Unfortunately I'm STILL pre-op! It seems like forever! I have my pre-op appointment with my surgeon 9/14/16 and hopefully will be scheduled for Sleeve soon after. I have my Upper GI Series, EKG and labwork on 8/10/16 - hopefully all goes well with those tests and I don't end up delayed.

    Protein, Bariatric Vitamin, Stall

    @@pandas22 It's absolutely normal.
  21. @@Seastars It depends on the professional - there are varying opinions. Whatever works for you but it seems that you are extreme dieting (eliminating all carbs) and exercising more than most people can rather than using your sleeve. I am having this surgery to help me limit the quantity of food but still be able to enjoy a balanced meal (protein and produce). Healthy carbs are necessary in our diets. Glad you are back to losing.
  22. @@cameron1209 I'm tired just thinking about this and I'm pre-op! Lol Take care of yourself - please do not overdo it - you don't want to risk complications! Take advantage of the week before school to rest and heal.

That's an incredible loss in a week. Your body needs time to adjust. Stay off the scale. Keep measurements - I bet you'll see a change there even if not on the scale. Congrats on a great loss!

    Protein, Bariatric Vitamin, Stall

Losing 20lbs in a week is incredible! Your body needs time to adjust. You need to find other ways of getting protein - as it is critical to healing and healthy weight loss. Try getting unflavored Protein powder and mixing with broth or other liquids. Good luck and Congrats!
