Yeah - that's scary.
-
@@suzzzzz I think that's an important point - not everyone has the same triggers. I didn't get fat by drinking alcohol. I don't plan to give it up completely. Now if we are talking bread and pasta...that's another story. ????
-
I believe it often changes texture. I'm not sure you're going to achieve mermaid hair though! Lol

This is always an entertaining topic. I have no issues with someone drinking a glass of wine, drink, etc. It's a little scary to me how very soon post-op folks are slamming down shots. It's very easy to trade one addiction for another. Not to mention the complications you could have with alcohol causing bleeding and problems with healing. Although - I don't think, as adults, anyone should be scolded. It's their choice. If I decide to have a drink before my plan allows - I will not try to seek validation from a forum. Just as I won't ask if I can have pizza a week post-op. You know the answer! Oh...and I rescue dogs too! ????

You're not getting adequate nutrition. It's very dangerous. They need to figure out how to help you.

Go to ER. Low potassium and dehydration is dangerous. Please keep us posted.

@@AC3 I don't believe it would be considered a co-morbidity but WLS can help alleviate migraines sometimes.

Getting over the guilt
KristenLe replied to KaiserKid's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@esskay77 Is there one associated with your Bariatric Center? My Program has all the support available - nutritionist, psych, social workers, physiologist, surgeon, etc. all within the same facility/program. I had my psych eval by the psychiatrist who referred me to the psychologist for therapy (biweekly for 3 months). They also have Support Groups for emotional eating but I preferred the one-on-one. Did you have surgery in Boston? -

Oranges 1 month pre-op
KristenLe replied to Elizabethb36's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They're also high in sugars and may have caused dumping. It could have been too much quantity too. I doubt it was the liquid/solid issue. -
Saw my doc; she recommended a surgeon - but found this Tweet by him! Not sure I like this guy much
KristenLe replied to TracyBar's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@TracyBar I thought the tweet was funny - and it would have seemed rude not to reply (it may have even been a patient sending it to him). -
@@gpjess Write a list of all the things you want to do when you lose weight (wear a sexy dress, ride a rollercoaster, play with my kids/grandkids, go kayaking, etc.) - and keep it on your desktop to look at anytime you are tempted to eat the junk food. You can also write a list of answers to the question we all ask ourselves pre-op "why bother" (when I can't lose weight on my own anyway - I might as well eat a piece of cake) and go through them when you are tempted. Have some broth packets at work so you can drink that instead. The other thing I did a few days at work - I brought in sugar free popsicles and stuck them in the freezer if I had a sweet craving. Hang in there!!! Stay strong!

KristenLe replied to TracyBar's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@TracyBar I would not go by the Tweet - he was just the recipient of it. The best thing to do is meet him yourself and see how you feel. You can't go by one or two bad reviews either. I would be more comfortable with your GP's recommendation than a few miserable people on the internet. Good luck! -
Wendi's Chili or Panera's Tomato Basil
KristenLe replied to Jellybean55's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Jellybean55 You should be able to have the tomato Soup - but be careful - I noticed last week that Panera has some added sugar in their Soups. I think you'd have to blend the chili as others mentioned. -
@@mom2madison Can you have Protein shakes? I know it's not real food but if you maybe blend it with ice and make it like a frozen drink (pretend frozen mudslide) it would help. Stay strong - you've got this!

Increased water intake = retaining water and gain?
KristenLe replied to Jewelgirl04's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You should keep in mind that muscle weighs more than fat. If you are weight training - it's possible to go up a few lbs. Are you taking measurements? And whoever said 2 lbs above goal is concerning was wrong - you could gain 2 lbs from not pooping one day. Being this obsessed with the scale is not healthy. I must disagree with muscle weighing more than fat. One pound is one pound regardless if it's one pound of fat, one pound of muscle or one pound of pickles. A pound is a pound.I do agree with not obsessing about the scale! It will drive you crazy ! You can gain muscle and lose fat - the scale may go up but you will be smaller.
