Depression before Surgery
KristenLe replied to stsch06's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would encourage you to go to therapy with someone familiar with Bariatrics and eating disorders. I didn't feel like I had a food addiction but went to therapy to work on emotional eating (mindless eating/cravings). Stay strong! -
Surgery is tomorrow, but still waiting for insurance to approve!

KristenLe replied to kellyann53's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
@@kellyann53 Have you talked to Horizon recently to find out what the delay is?? I'd be going crazy if I were you!! Fingers crossed and prayers being said! -
Thanks all! I had a GI virus (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea) the 5 days before the test. I wonder if that made a difference. I have a call into the surgeon.

Severe constipation Gerd Vomiting
KristenLe replied to Dody143's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Dody143 You should call your surgeon to explain your symptoms. You may just have a stomach bug or something you ate didn't agree with you - but call your surgeon just in case. The way you described it - I was thinking gallbladder. -
You're not going to fail. Be honest. Most of us have some underlying Psych issues (depression, food addiction, etc) and they understand that.

@@even11 Were you able to speak to a therapist about your decision? This is a huge lifestyle change and if you aren't ready - it's best to hold off. I would talk to someone though.

@@Jesm1029 Sounds like a potassium deficiency. Try and add potassium rich foods into your diet. You may need to get an RX if continues. Talk to your Dr.

HELP- Sore throat 1 week before surgery
KristenLe replied to Kkdd28's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You have to ask your surgeon about the Z Pack. I don't think they'll cancel as long as you're better by surgery but you have to tell them. Hope everything goes smoothly! -
Completely Undecided.
KristenLe replied to okiegirl1980's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I don't eat sweets very often and don't really graze so they thought I only needed restriction. I want to be able to have cake if I want - without getting sick. If I had a sweet tooth - I'd probably go with bypass so I had that consequence. Some sleevers dump too though so I'm hoping not to be one. Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App -

KristenLe replied to okiegirl1980's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@okiegirl1980 What surgery does your team recommend? I chose sleeve based on my surgeon's recommendation after reviewing my medical history and eating habits. I didn't want the malabsorption part of bypass - just want the restriction. Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App -

@@cjacks Back pain could be from dehydration. It could also be a kidney stone or just sore muscles from your sleeping position. Are you feeling better? Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App -
@@Rocshae Please be careful. The reason for the puree at this stage isn't only about what your stomach can tolerate but this early out you are still healing and have a large incision with staples. Small pieces of food can get stuck in a staple or suture line and cause significant complications (you wouldn't necessarily know right away or even days later.) It's dangerous not following the plan. It's really not worth taking a chance. Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App

I was just sitting here w design if pops were considered liquid or food! Thanks for the comment aboveAm I doing my pouch harm if I have one after eating? Since it's sort of a liquid, does it fall into the category of drinking after eating? I am supposed to wait 30 min after food. I would wait and consider them liquids. -
Lost a Friend This Weekend
KristenLe replied to JamieLogical's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@JamieLogical I'm so sorry! Unfortunately, you have to let people decide what's best for them and many of us make excuses as to why we are different (than the person who just died or had a heart attack, etc) and that won't happen to us. Praying for you and your friend's family! -
@@wincha The forum posted in is not always visible on the phone app so I didn't know you had LapBand. Regardless, I was not offering you advice on how to break your stall. I was voicing my opinion on the Shakeology sales pitch you (and all others reading a public forum) were getting.

I just came from my pre-op Upper GI Series. Drinking the barium was even worse than I expected - I proceeded to gag and burp throughout the entire 6 ozs of cement-like sludge - which then forced me to do the gross fizzies again because I screwed up the "air" effect. Holy crap - all I kept chanting in my head was "Suck it up, Buttercup!" thanks to @@Dub !. I know there's a light at the end of the tunnel (well I sure as hell hope so) but I'm ready to be on the loser's bench - enough of this pre-op testing and waiting! Now I just have to hope the testing was normal and nothing causes anymore delays! Still wanting to vomit... Kristen
