@@michelleey Between the hormones, dehydration and lack of protein - you have the trifecta of being miserable. Concentrate on fluids right now. Try different temps to see if you tolerate one over the other. Take small sips throughout the day. Water, broth, crystal light, Powerade Zero, Vitamin Water Zero, sugar free popsicles, protein water... Hopefully they've given you anti-nausea meds - if they're not working - ask for something else. I recently discovered my multi vitamin was making me extremely nauseous. If you don't feel better soon - demand for further testing to see what's wrong. Prayers.

Veggies can be difficult to digest this early out. You also have to be careful with seeds (zucchini, cucumbers) as they can get stuck in your staples or incision and cause complications. Try sticking with things with Protein such as cottage cheese, refried Beans with cheese, strained or pureed Soups (no rice or pasta), greek yogurt, etc. Be sure to get plenty of fluids. You may still need to supplement with Protein drinks or shakes. Be sure to bring Water and protein Snacks to school. Good luck.

Surgery is getting closer.
KristenLe replied to Kaylaseibert's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Write down a list of all the things you want to do after weight loss - use it as inspiration to get you through the difficult times during the pre-op diet. Eat and drink as much as allowed - don't wait until you are starving and more apt to grab something quick (not on plan). Be prepared and have allowed foods available at all times! Good luck. -
Pureed stage. Eating too much?
KristenLe replied to GeeMarie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@GeeMarie It doesn't seem like too much food but try and aim for more protein. Adding a protein drink will probably get you where you need to be. -
Cant keep anything down

Call your surgeon. Be sure to get in Clear liquids and drink something with electrolytes while waiting to hear from surgeon. Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App -
@@CoMo That's too bad - I couldn't handle all those sweets either. I'd call and ask for an alternative. Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App BTW...they sell savory teas (search amazon).

Umm, how do you tell your daughter she might need this?
KristenLe replied to OKCPirate's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@OKCPirate I agree with @@LipstickLady - you don't tell her! Let her decide to pursue WLS or not. She may have PCOS if the weight coincided with puberty. Stress will really mess with her hormones and can cause weight gain. Although she's probably a great candidate for WLS - it's not something anyone wants to hear from a parent. 2 weeks post-op Feel like I can eat anything!
KristenLe replied to kaseybc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@kaseybc Sounds like you are doing great! You should measure portions and stick with guidelines. Your stomach takes about 20 mins to notify your brain you are full and that's when nerves are healed. You don't want to get to full - only satisfied. -
Maybe they are worried about you and can't express their feelings so they are instead pushing you away. Call them out on it - let them know that you are hurt, disappointed and really need their support. Change is difficult for many. They may be afraid of you changing and what that'll mean for your relationship. Communicate - be honest and explain why you are having this surgery.
-
Get back on track immediately. It's done - there's nothing you can do about it. Don't beat yourself up. Plan ahead in the future - and next time you are having trouble staying on plan just remember why you're doing this - and stay strong!
-
You should eat more frequently even if you don't feel hungry. You will damage your metabolism if not.

Feeling like I should see my doctor.

Pain with every swallow
KristenLe replied to Kdn76's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Kdn76 Try drinking things at different temps and take very small sips. You have to increase fluids or you'll be hospitalized with dehydration. If you don't feel better - call your surgeon. -
Seriously? The tapeworm diet??? Have they never seen House? That episode freaked me out!

Hummus, creamed soups (strained), cottage cheese (small curd or whipped), sugar free pudding (add protein powder), greek yogurt, ricotta bake, refried beans with cheese (can make a Mexican dip). Experiment and enjoy. My plan doesn't expect us to get all our protein in foods so still has us drinking protein shakes too. We are allowed cream of wheat, mashed potatoes, butternut squash, etc - but I'm going to try and stick with protein.
