Nervous to go under the knife AGAIN

@@smellslikecoffee There are always risks to surgery - but the chance of dying during the surgery is extremely low. The majority of complications (which is minimal as well) happen post-op. You can reduce these chances by following your guidelines exactly. Talk to your surgeon about mortality rates and complication rates. I can assure you that they are minuscule compared to the rate of mortality or complications from obesity related disease. Good luck on your journey!

HELP PLEASE! 15 y/o post op!

I agree!!! Congrats on taking this step at the beginning of your life - you will be so much healthier and be able to live a much fuller life!!!
  3. @@laceemouse I have only told my SO, mother and one sister as I go through the pre-surgery steps. I will tell other family members once I have a date (or post-op) and I will be telling people at work only because I have never been successful at losing weight and I've worked with many of these people for 20 years - they're going to know that something is up when I come back from FMLA and start losing weight. I have a much higher BMI though - so it may be possible for you to get away with not telling anyone about surgery and that you are just losing by eating healthy. I will not be broadcasting to anyone on FB. If someone asks me how I've lost weight - I will be honest. I really don't care if they don't approve - I'm not doing this for them - I'm doing this for ME and to be healthy. To tell or not to tell is a very personal decision. Whatever you decide - never feel ashamed to be getting surgery - it is a tool to help you lose weight. Only 5% of obese people who lose weight on their own keep it off (that's not good odds) - so why wouldn't we get help to lose and keep it off! Good luck!

    Weight

@@northstar9148 Constipation may be the problem if you haven't gone in 3 days. I don't know why the fast works - but I lost 10 lbs during that week of being sick. I didn't lose that doing WW for 3 months.
  5. @@Suziesue1706 Limiting calories could be the issue. How much Protein are you getting?
  6. @@Suziesue1706 You need to reach your protein and water goals to lose weight and heal. Water retention can cause weight fluctuation and so can constipation. If you are sticking with the plan - you will lose weight.
  7. @@crissyboo I haven't done a liquid diet (only have to do it the day before surgery).

    Advice needed

^^^^ This Weight loss surgery can be very difficult on relationships. It's important to communicate. The divorce rate is high after Bariatric Surgery.

From fat and firm to fit and floppy.

Our floppy ass and sagging boobs won't kill us - our fat very well could! I'd much prefer saggy thighs than have my leg amputated due to diabetes. I also be glad when I don't float as well - I can barely go under water without bobbing to the surface! ????

    How do you look normal?

I'm pre-op but I think we believe people pay more attention to what we are eating (or not eating) than they are. I would not put more on your plate - that would seem more noticeable and you could end up eating more than you should. If anyone questions what you are eating tell them you are eating healthy. And - so many people have allergies, intolerance, preferences (vegetarian, gluten-free, no "white" foods), etc. that it's unusual to find anyone eating what would be considered "normal".

    Weight

@@northstar9148 Definitely increase your Water intake (lemon water will help with water retention). However - the scale barely moves for me - even when I'm eating "healthy". You may have to do a fast to kick off the weight loss then go back to eating healthy. The only time the scale really moved for me was during a stomach virus a few weeks ago - I drank Powerade zero and ate tomato Soup or chicken soup for about 7 days (so basically was on a liquid diet). It wasn't a pleasant way to lose weight - but it was the only time the scale moved for me. I lost only 3 lbs during my supervised weight loss.
  12. @@asamii Glad you got care before it got any worse. This is why it's so important to seek medical care and not assume my pain is like your pain (and normal).
  13. Drink lots of Water (add lemon) and tea. You will probably need a liquid only diet to lose 13 lbs in a 9 days. Good luck.

Great! Fingers crossed all goes well! I'm pre-op with same practice (but new site in EG) for 9/14 and hoping for a date before end of Sept. Maybe I'll see you in the OR! ????

    HELP me please pain

@@mouna Call your Dr now and make sure it's not anything serious. Good luck.
  16. @@LoveAlwaysKia It's the typical time for a stall BUT constipation can also be the problem. Are you meeting your protein and fluid goals? Eating too little will put your body into starvation mode and it will hold on to the fat.

    Sugar addiction help !

@@Nikkinee You have to work on the emotional eating issues - this is more a mental journey than physical. You can sabotage yourself post WLS so be sure to get that under control. I highly recommend therapy with a psychologist familiar with Bariatrics and eating disorders. This isn't a matter of having a sugar addiction - you go 6 months eating properly - this appears to be emotional eating and/or self sabotage. Good luck

HELP PLEASE! 15 y/o post op!

Try some of the other protein drinks like Isopure, Atkins Lift, Syntrax - they are more of a water or juice consistency. You can also get unflavored protein powder and mix with broth or a fluid (Powerade Zero, crystal light). Hang in there! You can do this!!!

    New here.

That makes more sense! ????. Maybe you were predicting your future after surgery! I would think you will not have any problems being approved.

Just under 3 weeks out and busy!

    Congrats on your weight loss!!

Just under 3 weeks out and busy!

Baby food may not be the best choice because it doesn't have a lot of protein and can often have added sugars so just be careful there. It's important you get plenty of fluids - usually that's at least 64ozs. That is a very long day - be careful and take care of yourself.
  23. @@blizair09 Congrats on such a successful pre-surgery weight loss! I'm still pre-op but wanted to encourage you to continue pursuing surgery. Only 5% of morbidly obese people who lose weight on their own are able to keep it off! Your body fights to gain it back! You have already shown how successful you can be - you will do amazing after surgery!!! Best of luck with the rest of your journey! Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App

    Sleeve question

You should not get to the point of feeling full - try to stop before that. I'm supposed to get 3-4 ozs from week 3-6. I think it'll be a while before getting a cup. Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App
