Every one loses at different rates. 15lbs in 2 weeks is good. It takes your body time to heal so as long as she sticks to the plan and gets some walking in - the weight will come off.

"Snacking" on pre op diet
KristenLe replied to Lizardlady's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is extremely confusing! Tomato soup has added sugar I believe so that's usually a no go. -
3 month surgiversary (B&A)

Congrats! You look great! -
Get some fluids with electrolytes (G2 or Mio drops). Try also some protein water. Great job on the weight loss!

Leading up to my death?
KristenLe replied to 1cutiejulie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really would not want my loved one "saying goodbye" before surgery. My boyfriend just had surgery and I told him I loved him as they wheeled him into the OR - but we tell each other that every day too. If he started to say his "goodbyes" I would have lost it and been even more of a wreck than I was. Tell them you love them and reassure them you will be fine! -
I believe it depends on type of carbs too and their glycemic index. Talk to your Nutritionist - most plans vary. If you are having 22 gms of carbs in a banana it would be different than having 22gms in pasta.

Submit to insurance

The RN told me they don't order those tests until approved (probably so you don't waste your $). -
14 days post op and started mushy food
KristenLe replied to Lucilla's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
@@Lucilla I'm not sure where you live but we have a Job Lot around here that has Protein mixes that are fairly inexpensive or at least reasonable. They also had a version of the PB2 (peanut butter powder) that was affordable. You can also buy inexpensive/on-sale boneless chicken thighs and cook them in a crock pot until they are falling apart and make some different "meals" with that. I know it's difficult because everything seems so expensive. Good Luck! -
Having surgery Feb. 23rd 2016
KristenLe replied to coco1212's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@sja 25 lbs is a good loss - don't be discouraged! It's very difficult comparing to others - we all lose at different rates - everyone's situation varies. Some who lose more in the same amount of time may have had more to lose - or they lost less during the pre-op diet or they exercise more - no two people's experiences can be compared. If you feel like you are in a stall - go back to basics - be sure to track your food, get enough Protein and Water - and stay away from carbs - and exercise. Hang in there! -
I use the nasal pillow mask and last about 6 hours a night. I sleep better (except last night) and am able to sleep on my stomach or either side without an issue. It can be uncomfortable at times but adjusting the head gear straps help.

Not calling me to schedule sx

Wait a little while longer. Hope everything is cleared up soon. -
Not calling me to schedule sx
KristenLe replied to Janiegirl1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are there any other Bariatric Programs in your area? It would seem that if you are being delayed so is everyone else waiting for him to get hospital privileges. How long will it take for them to get "caught up"? I would think about going somewhere else if you don't get a date very soon. -
Congrats! Another inspiration!

Second guessing choice for sleeve
KristenLe replied to mom2wils's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have had this same thought going through my head all day. Surgery should be last resort for morbidly obese or obese with comorbities. I can't imagine going through WLS when only having 50lbs or less to lose. Someone going through surgery next week is starting at my GOAL weight.50 pounds is a lot of weight to lose...and if you don't get the surgery you may never get it off...don't let anyone talk you out of your decision to get it done...The wight must come off..I suspect if you were able to do it on your own you would have already....make the right choice for you.It is alot to lose and as I said in later comment - maybe if I did go through with surgery with only 50lbs to lose I wouldn't now be 289lbs. Although at a BMI of 30 or less - I wouldn't go through major life altering surgery unless I had serious comorbities (or had been morbidly obese and lost before and started to gain again). Just my opinion... Thankfully we can still decide what to do with our own bodies. -
"Snacking" on pre op diet
KristenLe replied to Lizardlady's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My NUT said to get used to eating 5-6 very small meals. I find timing my meals helpful or I'll just eat continuously whether I'm truly hungry. I am in my 6 month supervised diet period and bring healthy foods go work. I eat 4 times during work. Breakfast, snack, lunch, snack. I am trying to avoid sugars - even fruit because it seems to make me ravenous). Tomato soup may have had too much sugar for you. Try foods with less than 5gms of sugar. -
i don't think it's normal to have that high level of pain at 15 days post op. Your spleen is in the upper left side of abdomen - is that where your pain is? I would call your surgeon again - although he does sound like a tool! Good luck!

I need a breakfast alternative to oatmeal any suggestions
KristenLe replied to Pinkgirl1234's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
You can. I made 1/2 dozen at a time and put in individual bags for the week. They could definitely be frozen too. -
This article might help. I'm going to counseling to help me with emotional eating or to learn mindful eating. http://www.helpguide.org/articles/diet-weight-loss/emotional-eating.htm I haven't had surgery yet but I do this same thing now. I hope I can get it under control before surgery.

What makes up the 1,000 calories? How much protein are you getting? You need to increase your fluids - drink a non caloric drink when you feel hungry. It is probably more head hunger or emotional eating. Go back to your plan - small portions of protein first - vegetables and low carbs (only good carbs) measure and track your foods. Make sure your exercising too.

Egg muffins (crustless quiche muffins). Just pop one in microwave for a few seconds and you're good. You can make different kinds with any veggies or meat combos. -
Poached egg week 1 post opp?
KristenLe replied to PissiChrissi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You might need an acid reducer like Zantac or Prilosec. That's probably the "hunger" you're feeling. -
What is everyone drinking?
KristenLe replied to Breepad09's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How about making unsweetened iced tea (decaffeinated)? Alot of people add those MiO water flavor drops to water for some change. Crystal Light is an option too. -
The difficulty of "goal Weights"
KristenLe replied to Pedro Valle-Inclan's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I think it is also a way of setting the bar low so we don't fail if we don't lose more. I was asked what my ideal weight would be and what weight ID be happy with. I have no clue what I will look and feel like at 145lbs but I'd like to find out. My normal BMI weight is much lower and I wouldn't want to get that low. -
Wondering about Post-Op Life 6mos to 12mos

Do you have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)? It sounds likely. -
Rhode Island. I wish I knew there was a 6 month requirement.. I would have started months ago.
