Five Months Progress with Pics
KristenLe replied to JupiterinVirgo's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
@N1NA. Unfortunately, it's likely your friend will just gain the weight back once she starts eating normal food. How much do you have to lose? The likelihood of obese people losing and maintaining on their own is about 5% (from what I've read). Surgery is NOT the easy way out - your struggle will be just as difficult. The sleeve is just a tool to help. -
I figured I'd get new boobs and a tummy tuck for my 50th BD.
-
@@djd post your questions on a new thread and you'll get responses. This is from 2 years ago.

Stretching the sleeve

@djd. You are posting on a thread that's from 2014 so it may not have been seen. I just came across it for the first time. Stage 3 might be different in your plan but if you are having issues with soft food - try going back to purees until your stomach has healed more. Measure your portions so you don't eat more than you should. Try eating cottage cheese, beans, tuna, shredded chicken (or canned chicken), soft cheese, flaky fish, etc. Try something and see if you tolerate it. Good luck. -
I am doing the same (expecting the worst and hoping for the best). I'd much rather have skin than fat. I'm much older so I doubt my skin will have much elasticity to it. I will probably have saggy boobs down to my knees! Lol.
-
Just say "good luck with that!" and give him the middle finger behind his back.

Sending prayers! Good thing you had surgery!

Coffee or no in the beginning ? Surgeon and nutritionist disagree

What I was told was caffeine interferes with calcium absorption so it may cause issues there. I would keep it very limited. -

Walk alot to get rid of the gas. You can try GasX too. Also - try drinking the water at a different temp. You have to get fluids in or you'll get dehydrated. -
Congrats!!! Great NSV! You look beautiful!

Hi everyone, I'm new just have some concerns [emoji53]
KristenLe replied to tdb0127's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
10 lbs in 3 weeks is great! You don't have as much to lose as others so it will come off slower. But unlike losing weight before surgery it won't come right back if you stick with the plan. Be sure to get your fluids in and enough protein and you'll be at goal in no time! -
Don't they eat a ton of crap and smoke like chimneys at AA meetings? You'd be better off having your glass of wine! . I think your surgeon needs to lighten up. If you were an alcoholic I doubt you'd be asking for permission at all.

I'm just at the start of my 6 months. Going by dreadfully slow.

My program requires me to attend 2 sessions pre-op. I haven't gone yet.

Sleep Apnea after WLS.

It absolutely can. -
It's amazing what damage stress can do to our bodies and overall health. You're stressing about the stress. Don't worry about something that hasn't happened. I used to make myself sick worrying about the "what ifs". Worrying won't help and certainly won't stop whatever is supposed to happen.

Tell me about your progression of foods...
KristenLe replied to LisaMergs's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
This is me too - I eat celery just about every night (of course with dip unfortunately) and I know it'll be a while before I can eat it post-op (if ever). I could care less if I ever eat another piece of cake. -
I feel the same way. My BF has only known me as fat - I can't even picture in my head being "normal" sized.

Guess I'm the first pickle out of the jar...

Happy Independence Day to you!!! :-) -
Have some blood work done to make sure there's nothing going on that would hinder weight loss (thyroid). 100lbs lost is amazing so be proud of that loss. Focus on the positive and stay strong - don't fall into the failure trap - that's what we used to do. You know that if there's weight to be lost - you can do it - you've already proven that!

How do I ask my doctor?
KristenLe replied to ecoreen94's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Many insurance plans will require a referral to the Surgeon so you're better off discussing it up front. -
Not all of us got fat from the same things. I couldn't tell you the last time I had a piece of cake but yup - I'm fat! If I decided to have a piece of cake after WLS it doesn't mean I'm headed down the path of sugar addiction and will derail my weight loss. If you can't have something in moderation - then that's YOU - not every other fat person. We all have our own crosses to bear but don't assume because we are all fat means we have the same issues. To basically attack others because they don't follow your plan isn't they way to educate. Berating others doesn't help to make them successful!

How do I ask my doctor?
KristenLe replied to ecoreen94's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My PCP brought it up to me. Just tell them that you've been thinking about WLS and take it from there. Go to seminar at a Bariatric Program so you have some knowledge before you discuss it. Most PCPs will be on board. -
@Stevehud. No one indicated they were "downing" a Guinness every day. There was nothing that deserved your reaction. I understand where you are coming from - but I would urge you to read posts in full before calling us deranged and basically saying we are idiots. There's nothing in your posts that make me want to listen to what you have to say - and I'm sure you could provide helpful info.
