@@Rebekah 136 at 20 years old - you have a better chance at limiting the amount of "sag". It depends on a lot of issues - age being one of them, genetics, how much weight to lose, how often you yo-yo'd and lost and gained, exercise, etc. Just enjoy the ride and deal with whatever sag you might have. :-) It's much better to have empty sagging skin than fat filled skin. I fully expect at my age and size that my already sagging boobs will have to be hoisted up to get into a bra once I lose weight!

Feeling odd eating at restaurants
KristenLe replied to loyalty_queen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I usually don't eat my entire meal now (pre-surgery) and either take it home or give it to my BF. There's alot of restaurants that have a "light menu" option. The portions are usually smaller. The issue I think I will find difficult is not having anything to drink (water) with my meal. -
I'm on all those except Trazadone and had no concerns relative to that during my psych eval. As long as you're depression and anxiety are in control there shouldn't be an issue. I would not suggest coming off of them. You may need them post-op (as the hormones can exacerbate symptoms). You will answer alot of questions and the Psychiatrist will determine if you are a good candidate and if you could benefit from counseling or they may discuss your meds. If there's any chance of substance abuse is a major concern but I found that depression and anxiety is only an issue if it's not controlled (if you've had recent hospitalizations, etc). Most of us dealing with morbid obesity have depression issues. Good luck!

Don't use Thredup. I sent several new or barely used items and in return got $20.88 for 16 items. -
Breakfast foods you love and are healthy
KristenLe replied to Deleted Profile's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I make crustless quiche muffins. Put whatever veggie and/or meat with some cheese in bottom of muffin tins - add egg mixture (like you were making scrambled eggs) and bake. They can be frozen even. I make them for a week and pop one in the microwave for a few seconds. -
Reactive Hypoglycemia?
KristenLe replied to axlr8n's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I would think if it was a hypoglycemic reaction that you would have had symptoms prior to fainting. I hope they figure out what's going on and it's easily treated. -
When will I stop regretting this surgery?

I'm going to use this recipe to make my own popsicles. I can't stand the flavors of the sugar free pops I found. -
Be sure it's not head hunger you're feeling. http://www.helpguide.org/articles/diet-weight-loss/emotional-eating.htm

I think they test for nicotine.

Reactive Hypoglycemia?
KristenLe replied to axlr8n's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I hope you are okay - falling in the bathroom is so dangerous! -
Only eat what you're plan suggests and don't keep eating even if you feel hungry. Take a Pepcid or Zantac - it might be stomach acid. Also be sure not to drink 30 mins before or 30 mins after eating. If you think you're hungry - try drinking more water or some broth - but after at least 30 mins from when you are.

When will I stop regretting this surgery?
KristenLe replied to LadyJustice007's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hope those that are experiencing depression are talking to their Drs about it. There's no reason to live with that feeling - you may need some meds or maybe there's a medical reason for it (thyroid, Vit D deficiency, anemia). -
Sorry I misread and thought you were post op.
-
They most likely will not do your surgery if you haven't quit smoking. I believe you need to be 90 days without a cigarette. You gotta do it - you've already gone through so much to get the surgery - don't let this be a barrier!
-
What are you eating? Are you drinking enough water and getting your protein, vitamins? I've heard of good results from going back to post-op diet or the pouch test. I hope you get some answers.
-
It may not be true hunger. Try taking Pepcid or Zantac and see if that helps. Could also be head hunger. Be sure to get all your fluids and protein in.

You look incredible!! So tiny and cute! So happy for you!!!

Five Months Progress with Pics
KristenLe replied to JupiterinVirgo's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I haven't had surgery yet but had laprascopic surgery to remove gallbladder and only have a scar at one incision (which was large to get gall bladder out). You probably won't have much scarring. You'll have to work hard but the surgery will help. I wish I had done it sooner. -
There will be protein waters at Walmart. Might not have as much as a shake but you can drink more. Just watch for sugar content and aim for 0.

Birth control and after surg maintenance questions
KristenLe replied to EmilyJune's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't see why Mirena wouldn't work after weight loss. You do become more fertile but I believe Mirena is a good choice for birth control. Double check with your Surgeon though. Weight loss slows down but you can still lose by following the food plan. Some do a restart by going back to the post-op diet. Don't buy too much now because you might not like them after surgery. Premier Protein shakes are good and reasonable (can get a case of them at Costco or BJs). Good luck on your journey! -
It all depends... Age, how long you've been obese, if you have lost and gained several times, genetics, amount to lose, etc. Weight loss with a sleeve is fast enough where you'll likely have extra skin if you were to have it at all.

Isolate Proteins: Why is it important to take protein powder?
KristenLe replied to Keralian's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your body needs protein. You should be able to get what you need for a lot less than $100. That price seems crazy. -
How do I ask my doctor?

Be sure to mention all of the health issues you don't want to end up with. Get some info on your family's medical history. -
Your BMI is over 40? I don't think you'll need a comorbity but PCOS often counts. It shouldn't matter when you got diagnosed - it makes it much more difficult to lose weight. Also - you're young - so not apt to have any of the usual problems YET. I hope they approve you!
