You need to see your Surgeon. You need to get your fluids and protein in - you need them for your body to function properly.
-
@christinamo7. That's hysterical!
-
Oh ...I needed this! Too funny! And we all have said worse than "member" so feel free. I can't imagine getting my FUPA lipo'd. That has got to hurt. And Tommy Joe - you might want to read a thread in the Men Only section about how some find their "members" appear to be bigger after WLS. .

Any surgery pals this week?
KristenLe replied to annamal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@Pasha. Can you have sugar free popsicles or jello? Might make you feel better with some substance. -
@MyFreshStart. Plans are different in many Programs - even in the same location. I am your neighbor in RI and 2 programs in Providence have very different plans.

@@1moreday Don't hesitate to see a counselor about this. This article might help too. Stay strong! It is dangerous to eat foods not allowed - you could cause significant problems including leaking. http://www.helpguide.org/articles/diet-weight-loss/emotional-eating.htm

I was told 3-4ozs. Try eating a boiled egg for breakfast or stick with a protein shake if you are allowed.

Probably normal pain but need reinforcement

You may be having a reaction to the sutures. Both my Mom and Niece have a reaction to disolving suture material. Check with the surgeon. -
This is what I found about false positives. "Some individuals have circulating factors in their serum that interact with the hCG antibody. The most common are heterophilic antibodies. These are human antibodies directed against animal-derived antigens used in immunoassays (1, 4–9). Individuals who have worked as animal laboratory technicians or in veterinary facilities or who were reared on farms are more likely to develop heterophilic antibodies."

That's just wrong. Let's hope it was an invalid test and not that they mixed up specimens with someone else (who got surgery and WAS pregnant). :-(

Surgery a week from today. Just got postponed :'(
KristenLe replied to lindseyp1019's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@lindseyp1019. That's great news! Everything happens for a reason and anytime you leave a hematologist with nothing bad diagnosed - you're lucky! -
^^^^^^ what she said.

ANYONE every appeal a plan with an exclusion for weight surgery and got approved !
KristenLe replied to mswyatt1967's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Confirm what that means for weight loss to be excluded. I read a policy that indicate weight loss programs were excluded but not Bariatric Surgery. You may want to talk with your plan administrator. I would go through with the visits - as they should count even if you get a new plan next year. -
I've been looking at menus prior to surgery for items I'll be able to eat post surgery. Many restaurants have a light menu which often have at least 1 protein/veggie option. Chili's has several possibilities. You may not be able to eat the entire meal but they're smaller. A few places now have a a greek platter appetizer (hummus, olives, etc) - 99 Restaurant has one and a few local places here. We have a few places that have bun-less options for burgers (beef or turkey). As mentioned above - there's always soup. For fast-food - Wendy's Chili is an option or a grilled chicken sandwich minus the bun from the other fast food places. I'm not sure at what point salads will be okay but there's usually a salad option with protein and also you can replace a typical side (fries, potatoes)with a salad. In terms of traveling - many hotels have a little refrigerator now so you can bring back leftovers.

Mashed potatoes aren't a great choice because they have no protein and are high carb. It's better to have a high protein food.

Extremely tired 3 weeks post-op
KristenLe replied to CarsonsMom's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks @@KristenLe!! I haven't been officially weighed at the Dr office since April 22, but I think I have lost another 6 pounds since then. Have you had your surgery yet? No, I have to go through 6 months of supervised weight loss so I'm hoping I can schedule surgery in September! I will be dancing in the streets if I do as well as you! :-) -

KristenLe replied to CarsonsMom's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@CarsonsMom I am beyond encouraged reading your weight loss success - I'm a little heavier than you but similar stats and I hope I do as well as you've done since surgery! Very impressive! :-) -
Incredible!!! Congrats! A reward is definitely well deserved!
-
@sherryk. One thing to consider if you are extremely tired is your blood pressure. If you are on meds for hypertension, they often need adjusting after WLS.
-
Anyone else experience this?
KristenLe replied to con con's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is very few calories. -
Best thing I ever did .. Gastric bypass

Frustrated and confused :(

@@Necie - make sure the Ensure has a good amount of Protein and not many carbs/sugars. -
It could be stomach acid - try taking a PPI and see if it helps. I don't think you could drink too much water at this stage of post-op. Definitely speak to your Nutritionist.
-
Take pictures and also measurements! The scale doesn't show the whole picture. I never realized how big I was until I saw pictures - you might need to see pictures to see how much you've "shrunk".
-
I haven't had surgery yet but I noticed alot of people have high expectations of weight loss. I think 40lbs since 2/12/16 (nearly 60 since Jan) is excellent! If you follow the plan - eat enough protein, drink enough water/non caloric drinks & exercise - you will be a success! I would recommend finding a local Bariatric Nutritionist to help you if you feel you need it. I wouldn't rely on your GP to understand the complexities of WLS.
