I waited until I was 47 - 289lbs and have multiple comorbities. You're lucky to have this opportunity while still young. I feel like I wasted 20 years of my life.

Great letter. Check the Obesity Action Coalition website for other tips on appealing. I'm having a difficult time getting my BCBS carrier to provide me with my requirements and it's frustrating not to know the details.

Your PCP should be able to do EKG. Just tell them you need surgical clearance. It should be covered.
-
I went to Lane Bryant on Saturday. I bought a pair of pants and 4 tops for $116. Only 1 top was clearance. I don't think I'd find anything as nice for that amount. Regular priced was 40% off and another 15% off everything if you work in a medical profession.

Good Luck!!! -
I would strongly recommend that if there's a possibility that you are pregnant that you should speak to your Anesthesiologist and Surgeon. Pregnancy immediately after WLS is not advised - never mind being pregnant at the time of surgery. You could have serious complications.
-
Someone recently posted a thread about how she ate something post-op before allowed and ended up with an emergency EGD to dislodge it. It's not being judgemental when someone cautions you. Also - if you got sick from eating the food - the vomiting could cause major complications. If you need to have something other than what is recommended it's best to call your NUT beforehand.
-
I'm not sure it's worth doing this pre-op. That will be one thing I deal with after surgery.
-
Do you have a Nutritionist you work with on your Team? It should be easier to get in touch with them. If you're on full liquids - then I wouldn't risk eating anything.

Acceptable pain meds, surgery on 5/7

You shouldn't take anything not prescribed. The Tramadol should help you sleep. -

@@Lisa_85 If he doesn't already know about your WLS - I would tell him about it. You'll be more comfortable and able to be more yourself than trying to hide it. I think starting off a relationship with keeping something so important about yourself is a bad idea. I'm sure he'll understand - or he should.
-
Prayers that all will be okay. I would encourage anyone having surgery and there's any possibility of pregnancy to request a blood test.

Good luck!

@@choicemun I'd consider holding off on the new business venture for now. Get a water container that you can take with you everywhere and keep drinking. Also - cook something for the kids that has protein and stop and eat with them. Grab some 100 calorie almond packs for a quick protein snack. Make smoothies for you and the kids. Make eating and preparing food fun and part of your day. You're going to run yourself into a hospital bed and be forced to take care of yourself then. Take care!

Sorry for your loss! You don't need to be on meds to be approved. They may recommend some counseling but that can help all of us prepare.

Was the Psychiatrist who did the Eval with your WLS Program? They should tell you what their concerns are. Ask your therapist to contact them about results.

They have protein water at most grocery stores. Some flavored but I've seen some plain. -
Surgery in 9 days is it to late..... may 17
KristenLe replied to findingnish's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The pre-op diet is to reduce the size of your liver. Citrate magnesium will not help. It's important to stick with the diet moving forward and hope that it's okay. -
@@WhitneyMc Do you mean that you're not treated for your depression? If not - it's important that you are treated prior to WLS as it can be exacerbated after surgery (with the hormones etc). You don't want to have the surgery if you're not mentally ready. I am on meds for depression and my Psych Eval went fine. I asked for additional counseling for emotional eating since I had to wait 6 months for insurance approval anyway.
