  1. @@GinaCampbell The hunger you experience pre-op should be very different than post-op. I am going to therapy for emotional eating while I wait for my approval and really feel like it's helping. Good luck and stay strong!

    Ignorance, Senility, or NSV?

@@mngreeneyes The fact you even consider running a marathon and training for one makes you a winner! There's nothing about that that could be considered a failure. Just be careful and stop when you need to! This is me...
  3. You should be eligible for FMLA. Many States have Temporarily Disability too - if you pay into that then you can collect when out.

    Deciding the Band

@@krr343 I went to the surgeon with Band in mind. He told me the same as @ that more are removed than put in these days. He also said that 50-60% of lapband patients require a secondary surgery due to complications. I'm going with the sleeve. I have alot more weight to lose than the lapband can help with too.
  5. @@mmy There's no possible way you could have gained fat weight so it is just water and probably your body retaliating against what it feels is starvation. Definitely get your fluids in and look into unflavored protein powder to add to your food or even water. I think the amount you've lost is incredible! Stay strong!

    Tooth Extractions week before Surgery

What @@Christinamo7 and @@Bufflehead said! I would call surgeon today and ask.
  7. @@chele367 I would thank her but say it's not necessary. Maybe she could pre-make some meals for your daughter so you don't need to or stay while you're in the hospital. I am the type of person who doesn't want anyone around when I feel crappy.
  8. Try hummus, ricotta bake (recipe online), cottage cheese, sugar free pudding.
  9. It sounds like you may be dehydrated and need more fluids. Try sugar free popsicles, broth, tea, etc. You'll probably feel alot better.

Is there a way to break a stall

@@perfectlyimperfect44 I'm still pre-surgery so not sure but that seems low.

  16. Try going back to basics. You may be having more carbs which trigger your hunger. Congrats on your loss - that's impressive.
  17. I lost 1 lb in my 1st month of supervised weight loss. I felt defeated but my NUT told me not to worry that I will lose after surgery. I still have my doubts.

    Need RNY but...

I know...I'm pre-surgery and think I'll be the first person who doesn't lose weight with the sleeve. Or that something will happen between now and surgery that'll prevent me from having it. I just want it done and I've got a few months to go.

    Post-Op Diet Full Liquids?

It's not only the consistency that is a concern - but introducing other foods may cause vomiting which can cause complications. I would not eat anything not specified on your plan. You should strain any soup.

    Need RNY but...

I'm 48 with a 53 BMI and my surgeon felt sleeve was a good way to go for me. Although you may lose faster with Bypass - you can still lose a significant amount of weight with sleeve. My concern for you would be the NSAIDs being problematic with the sleeve too. In terms of keeping the weight off - I honestly believe that's patient compliance related and not the surgery type. Hopefully whichever you decide - you lose not only weight but the pain you experience too. http://www.obesitycoverage.com/gastric-bypass-vs-gastric-sleeve-surgery/

    One week away.

I'm sure it's out of fear more than anything. I would be petrified if my Mom was having major surgery. I'm a major worry wart when it comes to my loved ones!

I think your fluids are more important right now. Call your Nutritionist to ask for advice. You can get unflavored protein powder to add to your drinks.

    Cleanliness after surgery

@@GoingRogue You just made me laugh. I can't answer your question but it's a good one. I haven't had surgery yet but I will be figuring out a way of wiping my own bum (pain or not).

    May 9th-13th sleevers

@@Dejaalex You really need to increase your fluids even if you aren't hungry or feel like drinking. I'm sure this is why you don't feel well. Skip the Apple sauce (too many carbs) and have fluids. Try broth, tea, sugar free popsicles, crystal light, water flavors with electrolytes. It doesn't have to be plain water. Hope you feel better soon.
