  1. Others will disagree but you need to tell him! It'll always be on your mind and he'll find out by accident and wonder why you never told him! If he's as serious about you - I can't imagine he will give a damn how you got healthy!
  2. @@jess9395 I apologize if my comment came across as "skinny bashing". I did not intend for it to sound that way. You look incredible and not skin and bones at all. However - I don't think BMI is a good measure. I know I don't want to weigh as little as 104lbs.

Diet plan that I was given is f'd up

There are so many things you can eat. My plan says protein first - then produce. No bread, pasta or rice. I can have omelets, crustless quiche muffins, Greek yogurt (watch sugar), protein smoothies (watch sugar), scrambled eggs, fruits, veggies, lean meats, tuna, salmon, baked fish, etc. The possibilities are endless. A banana would not be a good choice. You need to concentrate on protein.

    Numbness/Tingling

@ This can often be from dehydration or low potassium. Both can be serious and need to be addressed but it could also be a blood clot so I'm glad you called your doctor right away. Better than taking any chances. Waiting to hear back, you may want to drink something with electrolytes (G2, Pedialyte) and see if that helps any. Hope you get a quick response from your Dr.
  5. @@NPR I can imagine it may be complicated to apply for short-term disability having your surgery in Mexico. In my State, you have to actually bring your paperwork/application to the physician to have completed. It doesn't hurt to try though! I'm taking sick time and applying for temporary disability (TDI) for my time off. I have paid into TDI - so I'm taking advantage of it.
  6. @@judanna77 I would call your surgeon's office - they may even be able to get the picture sent to them to see what they look like and can give you advice. Hope it goes away - looks very uncomfortable!
  7. @@cseidman Yeah - I don't think she'd be a good fit!

@@lupita19 Depression is a common problem post-op. Your hormones are all out of whack. It may not be a response from not taking the medication. Your PCP may not get involved this soon after surgery. Hope you have some luck!

    Scars be gone

@@blessed973 They won't know what kind of surgery. Please be sure to put sunscreen on the scars - or they will get worse! Good for you for being able to wear a bikini by the way! I don't think I've worn one since I was 8 years old and I doubt I will again. lol

    3 days out of surgery

@@Eustacia Vye I would avoid juice (too much sugar). Try tea, flavored waters, sugar free popsicles... You just had major surgery - you need time to heal. You're going to feel weak until you get in your Protein and fluids. Did they tell you what to do about protein? How long are you on clear liquids for?

  12. @@Luckygrl I think the surgeon's always are conservative in the amount they say we can lose. They're going by published statistics based on the average amount lost by procedure (sleeve). I believe the standard is 60% of excess weight. They don't want to give you unrealistic goals. My surgeon was careful to say what the average weight loss is but that many lose more than that if they follow their plan.

    3 days out of surgery

@@Eustacia Vye I don't believe it is a medicine making the horrible taste in your mouth and it is important to continue taking all meds prescribed. What plan are you supposed to follow at this stage? Clear liquids, full liquids, etc? That will determine what you can/can't have.
  14. @@GinaCampbell That's great news! So glad for you!!!

    Tomorrow is my day

@@ZillyNa Here in the States, they are very careful to select the correct patient and the correct procedure. They should ask you several times for your name and DOB and what procedure you are having - they should also check the information with your hospital bracelet (assuming you have one). If they don't - ask them - several times if you need to feel comfortable. In terms of being nervous, can they give you something to relax you? Don't hesitate to ask for something. Good luck and many prayers!
  16. I had my gallbladder removed years ago and if you can have it removed at the same time as your sleeve surgery - go for it! You may have a little more discomfort and healing time but worth it not to worry in the long run.
  17. My Program has us do a Body Composition Analysis (InBody520). I look forward to seeing my results.

    Wan ton shells?

I would say no - too many carbs. But - I'm just guessing.
  19. Mine will too! I think the BMI scale is completely unrealistic and I don't want to be skin & bones. As far as I'm concerned - that's neither healthy or attractive! I'm okay with being overweight on the BMI chart. The scale says I would be considered "healthy weight" if I weighed 104lbs (I'm 5'2"). I can't even imagine.
  20. Look on the Obesity Action Coalition website for some guidance. I would appeal the decision. This seems to be the general theme lately - deny services that their benefits policy indicates would be covered. Ask them for the policy in writing and if there's nothing to indicate that the co-morbidity doesn't count if treated with medication - fight it! I have yet to see a policy that says "uncontrolled co-morbidity". They are basically punishing you for taking your medications as prescribed!
  21. That seems low especially if you're exercising. When you feel hungry - eat a protein snack and see if that helps.
  22. I was told Rogaine will not help with this type of hair loss.

    Cancelled/postponed!

That sucks but I always like to think there's a reason behind these types of things happening. I would highly recommend that you take Airborne and Vitamin C. If you are flying before your surgery - you want to build up your immune system so you don't get sick again on a germ filled airplane.
