48 hours afterwards. Was it a mistake?
KristenLe replied to GinaCampbell's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Being pre-op - what do you mean? What weren't you prepared for? -
Lmao I just almost peed my pants!!!

HOW DO YOU SUCCEED WITH HEALTHY EATING WHEN YOU'RE MEXICAN
KristenLe replied to marthaejurado's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Vegetables are encouraged on my plan. I have never made any authentic Mexican food but I would think it'll be easier to find options than with Italian food. -
I couldn't go through with it! Embarrassed
KristenLe replied to NPR's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@NPR I have to admit I'm happy that you didn't go through with it. WLS is not meant for someone who needs to lose 30lbs. You risk complications and the possibility of losing too much. I know how scared you were and I'm glad you were strong enough to say no. Good luck in your weight loss - I'm sure you will do great on your own! -
Terrified at 23

@@5Happypups Unless you have an addiction issue personally - I would not attempt to go through major surgery without narcotics. You are not on them for long but you most likely will need them post-op. It's hard to recover/heal without pain meds - at least in the hospital. I've taken narcotics on many occasions have never gotten addicted. -
Sipping all the time. Now is not the time to worry about timing meals.

Told my Mother I was having surgery and her repsonse is.........
KristenLe replied to reachbree's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@reachbree I haven't told my parents yet and wonder how my Mom is going to react. I live 2 miles from her so there's no way of getting around telling her. I'm waiting until surgery is scheduled. Your Mom may come around. She may have just been surprised and what came in her head came out her mouth. Give her some time. -
Lol...this made me laugh!!!

My insurance requires a 6-month physician supervised diet?!? :(

Any particular books you would recommend?I recommend this book...https://www.amazon.com/Emotional-First-Aid-Kit-Practical-ebook/dp/B0054RXXS0?ie=UTF8&btkr=1&redirect=true&ref_=dp-kindle-redirect -
Well done @ ! That's an amazing loss in 10 months! I hope you are able to eat more soon.
-
@@Sophie74656 I said something similar to my therapist today. I am amazed at the amount of people post-op who don't seem to have any idea what they should or shouldn't be eating but also those that didn't realize that this is not easy and you need to make serious changes.

Probably not the best question to ask, but here I go...
KristenLe replied to Autumn Riley Arnold's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'll probably have a big pasta meal - chicken pasta carbonara or fettuccine Alfredo. I have been doing well pre-surgery but I'm sure I'll break once or twice before. With crusty Italian bread with butter! Lol -
@@LisaMergs You look beautiful! Such an inspiration! Happy Birthday!!!

6 more days and I'm kinda freaking out
KristenLe replied to madisunshine1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think most of us are food addicts. You sound well prepared - I'm sure you'll do great. Just don't overdo it post-op - you will need time to rest and take care of yourself. -
Fruit infused water should be fine! My plan recommends fruit anyway.

Am I losing enough weight post-op?
KristenLe replied to JustSleeved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You need to increase your calories. Maybe add a protein shake. Your body will go into starvation mode. -
Am I losing enough weight post-op?
KristenLe replied to JustSleeved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@kbradley8712 Why are you only getting 200-300 calories? That's far too low. How much protein are you getting? -
Try going back to basics. Do the 5 day pouch test. You may also want to find a psychologist who specializes in eating disorders to help you deal with emotional eating.
-
Not a good idea but it's done so just get back on track. Strawberries can cause issues because of the seeds. Try having sugar free jello or popsicles.
-
I'm still pre-surgery but plan on eating them post-op - most likely without the roll.
-
You may have to go for a walk. Hamburgers are one of my weaknesses.
-
I think the worry is that you may get sick (vomiting) and cause complications. I would call and see what surgeon recommends - they may be ok with progressing to pureed.
-
Walking and moving are really the only thing that helps. You can try a heating pad. When sitting down rock back and forth.

Food is boring! It's not fun anymore!
KristenLe replied to mmy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mini GB has the same weight loss expectations as GB and sometimes more. I would be very concerned that you're not getting enough protein, nutrients and calories. Here's some recipes for making protein shakes. http://greatist.com/eat/high-protein-smoothie-recipes -
What was the amount of between your approval and actual surgery?
KristenLe replied to reachbree's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My biggest worry with not taking disability would be if there were complications. You could potentially lose your job if only took vacation and can't go back in time.
