Freaking out
KristenLe replied to cutefacechubbywaist's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You need to tell them about coming off the med. Your surgeon may not have an issue but your insurance might. Call and talk to your Nutritionist. -
Nooooooo the scale went UP!
KristenLe replied to Heather_8.1.14's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
You know what needs to be done! Stay strong! -
You should drink at least 64ozs of clear fluids. This could be water, flavored water, decaffeinated tea, broth, sugar free popsicles, sugar free jello. It will be hard to get in protein until you can have shakes. You might have to put protein powder in your drinks. Get as much hydration as possible. Sip, sip, sip.

What did your plan say? What stage are you on?

Cheating on day 6 post op
KristenLe replied to DebraM04's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes. I feel so so hungry. Today is my 6th day post op. I had the lap band prior and I guess I have the same restriction I don't know. Sent from my SM-G925T using the BariatricPal App Are you taking an acid reducer? It's more likely acid or head hunger. If you're "hungry" - have something from your plan. -
High cholesterol?
KristenLe replied to hopefulmom76's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Sometimes high cholesterol is genetic and can't be controlled with just diet. My sister is small and has a higher cholesterol than me. However - I would try to lower it by diet first. I am assuming you were fasting before your blood work. -
What are your favorite snacks?
KristenLe replied to hernewselfie's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
That right there may make me actually eat a deviled egg. Thanks for sharing. I saw a recipe for deviled eggs with avocado that reminded me of this. -
Feeling like a failure
KristenLe replied to brandeett's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Try doing the 5 day reset. I highly recommend counseling. Your sleeve is just a tool - the work still needs to be done and that involves life long changes in eating habits. -
Cheating on day 6 post op
KristenLe replied to DebraM04's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I recommend counseling for eating disorders / emotional eating. It's only going to get more difficult to resist temptation. -
Cheating on day 6 post op
KristenLe replied to DebraM04's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You need to get your mind in the right place to do this and be successful. You are risking significant complications from eating anything not on your plan. Your stomach is being held together with surgical staples and needs time to heal. Please don't continue to risk hurting yourself - not to mention you need to use this time to learn how to eat in order to be successful. -
Surgery is scheduled for Monday! what do I need to prep?
KristenLe replied to sarahbee77's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would get some broth, sugar free jello and sugar free popsicles too. Post-op will be like a little vacation for you! Lol -
Don't worry about feeling"full". Liquids don't remain in your stomach. Keep drinking.
-
Lol I was so ready for your smartass response! You didn't disappoint!
-
Lol...fat floats! I'm like a buoy now. I may need floaties next summer.
-
I sure as hell hope it will! ????

If the initial test showed apneas - sometimes you go back for a titration and fitting. Then they order the machine and surgeons usually require 30 days of compliance (monitored like Big Brother). I got mine prior to my WLS journey (my PCP thought it may help with weight loss - it didn't). This process could take some time based on the schedule of the sleep clinic/pulmonologist.

Needing advice on family gatherings.
KristenLe replied to gutsy911er's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Prepare! Make sure you have food you can eat. Bring your water bottle and keep drinking all day. Keep busy doing other things. I hold my great-niece (10 weeks old) to prevent me from eating at parties. Find games to play. Enjoy. -
So I finally heard it tonight!
KristenLe replied to cowboys4life's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@cowboys4life Sounds like there might be a little jealousy or insecurity involved. I would tell her how hurt you are that she thinks that. Of all people, your spouse should understand that this isn't easy. -
Little rewards when you hit certain goal weights
KristenLe replied to Autumn Riley Arnold's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will probably get a tattoo when I reach goal. -
Told my Mother I was having surgery and her repsonse is.........
KristenLe replied to reachbree's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think my Mom will be supportive. She may actually say "it's about time"! Lol. We shall see. There's no way I'd keep it from her. -
How did you feel two months post-op?
KristenLe replied to Clarevoyant's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@moppet How much protein are you getting? Are you taking vitamins? Are you on any meds (blood pressure) that may need adjusting? -
Reversal for gastric sleeve?
KristenLe replied to Gladys62's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@s.thompson You may get more responses in a new thread. If you are in alot of pain - don't hesitate to go to the ER. You are more than a week out now and the pain should be getting better - not worse. You need to be moving, walking and getting rid of the gas. You should be constantly sipping - try hot tea or warm water and see if it helps. Take your meds. -
Having trouble wrapping my mind around only losing 4 lbs since surgery
KristenLe replied to kat27641's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You gain weight in the hospital from the swelling, IVs and trauma of surgery. Do not pay attention to the scale right now! Increase your water and just keep going. -
@@cutiek16 Talk to your PCP or OBGYN. Some feel the pill is not as effective after WLS. You may want to consider an IUD.
