7 weeks Post-op FULL OF REGRETS

@@LisaMergs I agree but some don't have local surgeons.
  2. @@Katrinakit How much protein are you getting? Are you drinking at least 64oz of fluids? How about exercise?

    Am I jumping the gun?

I think it's possible but not probable. Have you already had a sleep study? If so - that would move things along faster. Be prepared for your visit - write down all your previous diet attempts, learn as much about the procedure as possible - particularly the eating habits that will need to change post-op and your expectations for recovery. Check your Programs website and see what else they recommend. Don't be too disappointed if you have a supervised weight loss expectation or if your Team wants you to go to nutrition classes/visits or even therapy. It's all to ensure you succeed!

    Ladies! Menstruation

You've been through hell and back too @@UsernameTaken so your system is all messed up.

    Pre-op liquid diet

I would call your Nutritionist and see what they suggest.

What to expect day 1 post-op

@@Cjanerun Yikes - hopefully all goes well. Good luck.

    Ladies! Menstruation

Hopefully it's that and not that you are pregnant @@phonicea42 . You may want to speak to your Dr if you usually have normal periods.

    Pre-op liquid diet

    Are you lactose intolerant?

What to expect day 1 post-op

@@Cjanerun Were you not prepared for the recovery time and not being able to do yard work, etc? That's a given with all major surgeries - especially abdominal.

    Camping--food/tips

Prepare!!! Make sure you have good options to grab. I'm not sure if you can have fruit on your plan but you could roast pineapple on a stick or peaches instead of marshmallows. Be careful of the sugar free chocolate. It could be a trigger but also sometimes the sugar free candy causes stomach cramps. Have fun!!!
  12. Sounds like lactose intolerance. What stage are you on - can you get your protein from food instead?

@@Dani302011 Just check with your surgeon to see if there's any concerns with flying.

    Sugar free gum

I've always swallowed gum - it would be difficult for me not to out of habit.
  16. Get in sooner to see surgeon or at least call and speak to them.
  17. @@mermaidgirl Don't worry about having more protein and veggies - the purpose of the diet is to shrink your liver. It sounds like you've done well. Good luck with everything. Look forward to your progress!

    Lap band shoulder pain

It's most likely gas pains from the carbonation. Are you allowed carbonated drinks with lapband? If you have cramping still - you need to have the band and port checked. Call your surgeon.

I would definitely call your surgeon ASAP. Good luck!
  20. I am not sure about bypass but we are told no rice with the sleeve. Three weeks post-op your stomach/intestines are still healing - rice could cause complications as well as expanding in your stomach and making you over-full.

    Pre-op goals

I'm trying high protein low carb pre-op. The scale has not been kind however! For lunch I usually eat grilled or rotisserie chicken with a tossed salad, tuna, chicken salad, sliced grilled chicken with peppers, onions, and mushrooms with cheese and sour cream (fajita without tortilla), black beans with cheese, tomatoes with fresh mozzarella cheese and balsamic vinegar. And as mentioned - have a meal replacement protein shake.
  22. I would imagine that your surgery will be discussed regardless of privacy laws. I'd let them know you're having a procedure and leave it at that. That way if they see that you're in the hospital they won't be worried and look deeper for a reason (or worse - come and visit)! Hopefully no one will risk their jobs by digging further in your records.

This is not normal and you need to contact your surgeon. Did the ER do any scans or tests to make sure there wasn't an issue?

    Food Funeral

@@reachbree It is definitely a lifestyle change - for life! We have to eat healthy and although there are some foods we can have eventually - it's all in moderation. I'm finding therapy pre-op very helpful in developing good eating habits and learning how to avoid emotional eating.
  25. No...not too much! Drink as much and as often as you can.
