    Six days post-op

It is a similar surgery with using gas to expand abdomen during surgery. Walk as soon as you can to get rid of the gas.Darn it! When I had my gallbladder removal surgery, the gas in my arm was the only thing that hurt when I woke up. It hurt SO MUCH (on a scale of 1-10, the pain was a 9). I'm usually able to tolerate pain, but that was awful. It felt like my arm was slowly breaking away from my body. I walked as much as I could. Then when 2 AM rolled around, I tried laying down to sleep, but I couldn't. I couldn't even recline because the pain was triggered by any kind of laying down. I had to literally sit up at a 90° angle while I slept. I was dozing in and out of sleep for about 2 days. By the 3rd day, I was finally able to recline, but still not able to lay down flat. I usually do well after surgeries, but that was something else. Though, to get this weight off, I'm willing to go through that again. I want to lose weight more than anything. I haven't had WLS yet but I'm told not as painful as Gallbladder surgery. You'll get through it! Stay strong!
  2. This is not his decision! You asked him as a courtesy - he doesn't have the right to tell you when you can take FMLA. When you have a date - fill out FMLA application through HR. Your boss is stepping over the line here. Apparently he thinks that he can overrule Federal laws. I've had people out entire summers for "stress" or to get a bunion removed. It is what it is! Who's to say 9/12 will work any better? Someone could go out on FMLA before you or quit!
  3. If I looked that good - I'd wear a bikini all the time - even to work! Lol
  4. I don't really think they have that right. You may be required to give 30 days notice but they can't force you to postpone surgery. They don't have the right to know what kind of surgery. Your boss has no say in the matter - contact HR directly!

    what to tell the surgeon?

He's not going to ask - he knows why you gained it back...why we all gained it back.

    Stomach Stretching

I have read some blogs where people are 7 weeks out and they can eat as much food as they use to. Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App It's important to measure your food and eat only the amount recommended. You should be satisfied and won't overeat.
  7. It depends on the surgeon.

    Liquid diet

There are several different versions of a pre-op diet. Some are extremely strict (clear liquids only), the time frame of the diet varies and some don't have one at all.

    Pre Op Diet Starts Today

Liquid diets aren't sustainable so the weight would come back on when you started eating normally. It's normal to have doubts but think about the benefits of surgery! You can get thru the pre-op diet and will be in a better position post-op. Stay strong!
  10. @@amber2.0 You will be weighed clothed. I didn't even undress during my 1st Consult. There's not many Drs that have someone undress completely (even during an exam you'd have a gown). Do not worry - it's an easy visit!

    Stomach Stretching

What makes you think this? There's differing opinions but no matter what - there's no reason to worry if you stick with your plan. Who really wants to take a chance that it does actually stretch?

    7 days post op

Please call your Dr. - there's far too many causes and some serious. Only your Dr can assure you.

    Grieve loss of stomach

I'm sure you are not the first but this thought never came to mind to me. I may mourn the loss of my boobs at some point! ????

    what to tell the surgeon?

Be honest with your surgeon. Most of us have lost weight and gained it back. It's very unlikely the surgeon will tell you you're not a good surgical candidate. Your BMI alone qualifies you. They also want to see you've attempted non surgical weight loss. Good luck! I wish I did this at your age!
  16. @@reachbree Good luck with your surgery! I would say NO to the visitors! You will NOT be up for company .... particularly CONTROLLING company! Lol

    Calorie intake

By limiting your calories - your body will go into starvation mode and your metabolism all messed up. You need protein.
  18. KristenLe

    Calorie intake

I believe your protein intake is more important than calories but 500-700 seems on the low side. You're more apt not lose if you're eating too little. How much protein are you getting?

    Weight gain

@@tapslp It's been quite awhile since I've had prednisone but maybe if you have healthy alternatives to eat when the starving feeling comes - you'll not gain or gain less weight. Eat some cucumbers & hummus instead of chips, have a SF popsicle instead of ice cream. I wish you luck! Autoimmune disease sucks!

    Weight gain

How much longer are you on the prednisone? That's such a difficult side effect.
  21. @@Andrea72 To think - in just 12 weeks you are a different person - inside and out!!! Congrats!!! You do look damn good!!!

    Pre op food journal?

You can journal or track with free apps on your phone (My Fitness Pal). Aim for meals of protein and produce. Avoid bread, pasta, rice, candy, cookies, etc. Find food that has less tha 5 gms sugar (except whole fruits or natural sugars). However - your Nutritionist should have given you guidelines or advice on an eating plan. That's her job!

    1200 calorie pre-op diet

    I don't have a pre-op diet. Clear liquids day before surgery - that's it.

    Horrible Pain

That's so painful!!! Hope you feel better soon!
  25. I wasn't even required to do a journal.
