Post Op Recovery Time - Questions
KristenLe replied to BarefootDrummer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it's important to consider not only the recovery from the actual surgery but depending on your plan - you may be on liquids for a few weeks post-op. You could be tired and weak. Just understand that you may not feel up to doing anything and might miss a function - so if they are a MUST GO - I'd wait until Aug for surgery. -
Swelling around incision on left side. 10 days post op

Glad you found someone close! -
Sigh. I can't "go" and it's getting to be a problem. Please Help.

Once again - made me LMAO. We refer to that as a Poopy 911! I had no idea probiotics could help - I'll be buying some today! -
After quite a few false starts I have my date and it's Wed the 22nd

@@Janelle Cooley Congrats! My words of wisdom....follow your Teams instructions and plan! If you have any questions at all - ask them for clarification! Enjoy the ride!!!! -
Swelling around incision on left side. 10 days post op
KristenLe replied to sleeverv's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@sleeverv Did you call your surgeon about this?? That would be my first step. It could be normal (scar tissue) - but I wouldn't take a chance. -
@@1Cor2:9 I wonder if it is more to do with a boost of confidence after losing weight then it is your actual size/weight making you more attractive (and leading to marriage).

Will Medicaid in GA approve Gastric Sleeve?
KristenLe replied to mssonya84's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@mssonya84 It completely depends on the plan requirements. Many Medicaid plans do cover Bariatric Surgery. Your best bet is to call and get the coverage guidelines from your plan. Wait times vary significantly too. Congrats and good luck! -
Any alternatives for the sweets?
KristenLe replied to DMH82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@DMH82 Be sure that you are limiting carbs in your diet (carbs can cause further cravings). Find something to distract you from the cravings (head hunger) - color, read, walk, paint your nails, etc. You can also try eating a sugar free popsicle or fudgsicle but be careful that they aren't triggers for wanting more sweets. Congrats on your loss so far - that's great!!! -
Pain from eating solid food
KristenLe replied to parsonsholsten3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@parsonsholsten3 I would call your surgeon to explain the pain so that he can tell you if that is normal or something to be concerned about. Your body is still healing and some pains are expected - others can be a sign of a complication and the only way to know the difference would be to discuss with your surgeon. Hope you feel better! -
How Often Do You Weigh Yourself?
KristenLe replied to psvzum's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@CharlotteKat I think you are reading something into this that wasn't there. The post was about getting on the scale daily is not helpful to her - if she doesn't lose or is in a stall - it can derail her. What's so wrong about saying that?? Not everyone is the same - we don't all have to follow the same exact process. What works for you might not work for us! I also think that it is more than appropriate to have some levity - personally I enjoy a joke every now and again! I'd rather a joke than someone referring to another person's post as "stupid" and "insensitive". -
How Often Do You Weigh Yourself?
KristenLe replied to psvzum's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not sure what problem you have with @@Icantbelieveit but I see nothing wrong with this post. What was so stupid and irresponsible? (It seems to me you have this backwards). -
If you are still in weight loss mode - skip the cheat day. It's important that you measure your food and track protein and calories (especially if you're eating off plan) - snacks can add up. Some trail mix can have over 100 calories an oz (it's unlikely you're only having an oz). The Smoothies could be high sugar/high calorie depending on what you put in them. It's so easy to get back into old habits if we're not tracking.

Birth control= weight gain?
KristenLe replied to PissiChrissi's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would reconsider the IUD. I don't know what horror stories you've heard but there are very few complications. Insertion can be uncomfortable for a little while but when it is time to have children - it gets removed (not a major procedure). It's so important that you wait to get pregnant. -
I did at first too. Lol

3 Days Post Op questions....
KristenLe replied to reachbree's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@reachbree Welcome home! Try and get more fluids. Just keep sipping. Walking should hopefully help the pain and lung congestion but if you feel short of breath at all - call the Dr. Try a heating pad for the pain. Stay strong! -
Sorry - just saw this was Lap Band. Obviously it wasn't for your stomach.
-
My gallbladder incision was @ 3in - the gallbladder was infected and they required a bigger incision to remove it. It's possible they needed a bigger incision to remove your stomach or they needed a larger incision to get good placement of the surgical equipment.

Sigh. I can't "go" and it's getting to be a problem. Please Help.
KristenLe replied to Beck90's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here's what my instructions say... Walk, walk, walk Plenty of fluids Baby food prunes Benefiber (but only if drinking lots of fluids) Stool softener 1/2 dose milk magnesia *Don't try anything more aggressive without checking with surgeon. Hope something helps. -
You need blood work to ensure you aren't anemic or have issues with your platelets.

It depends on your specific plan. They vary significantly. I'm pretty sure most don't allow salad.

2 weeks post of minimal loss
KristenLe replied to AnaLaura85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree my body was so ached a couple days ago so i drank a premier Protein Shake and not even kidding felt way better in a couple hours . I might just have to keep doing it because this is ridiculous i just finished grocery shopping not even 1 hours out and about and i feel drained. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using the BariatricPal App It's dangerous to go that long without protein. You need at least 60gms protein and 64ozs fluids. My plan requires me to have a protein shake in the hospital. I'm sure that's why you feel weak. In this case, I'd go against what your Surgeon recommended. -
@@gary5862 I can't believe she's behaving this way AND is scheduled for WLS in little more than a month. That's not only insensitive it's not a good sign for her being able to make healthy choices post-op. My surgery isn't even scheduled yet but I haven't had fast food since starting my journey in April. I would tell her how she's making you feel and how she's not doing herself any favors either. Stay strong, Gary!!!

I have mild sleep apnea and have a CPAP. I sleep so much better (took time to get used to it though).

I think Walmart sells Lift! -
I would call your office Monday and tell them you didn't receive diet instructions. Be sure to take pain meds as directed and walk! If the pain is concerning - don't hesitate to call your surgeon.
