    Heartburn & Sore Throat... ouch!

@ What was the outcome of this??

    Having a baby?

There's a forum related to pregnancy I believe. How long have you been at goal? My surgeon recommends waiting 18-24 months after surgery.
  3. Seriously?? Do you even know what the word "peril" means?
  4. @@WantToBe Is there a nurse at your surgeon's office that you can call? My plan indicates if you feel like something may be stuck - try a small sip of pineapple juice and walk around a lot. I don't know what the potential complications are with having the band removed though. Good luck.

    Feeling full

@@thickgirl49 Stick to the amounts advised by your Team. You should not feel full - the goal is to feel satisfied. Much of what you are eating are foods that go through your sleeve quickly. Weigh and measure your food and stay with your plan. Good luck.
  6. @@cseidman Definitely calls for a trip to the Dr.! Good luck!
  7. You could seriously damage to your stomach and cause life threatening complications by eating off-plan. No one is going to coddle you and tell you it was okay - it's dangerous. Be careful and stay on your plan.

    Getting frustrated

@@Lizardlady Have you tried the clear protein drinks (Isopure, Nectar) or maybe making your own with protein powder? You might be able to have egg drop soup or strained soup like onion (something with a little bit more flavor than broth). Of course I'm not a medical professional or nutritionist but I'd say the heck with 98% Fat Free and enjoy any creamed/strained soup. Good luck! Hang in there!

    Any other June sleevers?

That really sucks and is unfair! Hopefully you'll get another date soon!
  10. No problem. You can hijack any post - I just thought you might get better responses on a separate thread.
  11. I can find studies to dispute anything from another study. For example... Weighing Yourself: Helpful Habit or Unhealthy Obsession? In a study that monitored the weighing practices of 1,900 young adults, Carly Pacanowski, PhD, RD, and her colleagues found that those who weighed themselves more often experienced higher levels of depression and weight concern (thinking a lot about being thinner and fear of gaining weight) and lower self-esteem and body satisfaction. Interestingly, more frequent weighing did not lead to better weight control. Weighing isn’t necessarily problematic for everyone. “There is evidence that self-weighing may be an effective strategy for some adults to prevent weight gain,” says Pacanowski. “However, that doesn’t mean that everyone should adopt this behavior.” Weighing yourself can lead to self-judgment and guilt, which can fuel a cycle of emotional eating. For some it can promote eating disorders and other unhealthy eating behaviors. With 89% of women unhappy with their weight and 39% worried about the number on the scale, millions are stuck in a counterproductive and potentially harmful cycle.

    Very helpful advice needed!

I'm still pre-op but one thing I did that I feel will make me more successful is going to therapy to learn how to deal with mindless/emotional eating.
  13. Are you on blood pressure meds? If so - you may need them adjusted.

    Round and round we go!

Call the Manager of your practice.
  15. @@NewMeBefore40 Actually the OP was asking about not overeating not calories. She eats junk food and fried foods just not what she considers large portions. Your situation sounds alot like mine and although I haven't had surgery yet - they tell me I will definitely lose weight even though I have difficulty now (regardless of what I do). I would start a new thread with your situation - I'm sure you'll get responses.
  16. @@Sophie74656 Unfortunately not all Programs are created equal.
  17. @@NewMeBefore40 Do you have any metabolic disorders? Have they looked at whether you might have PCOS? I have a hard time losing weight but my Team assured me I will lose with WLS. They never once questioned my food diary or acted as though they didn't believe me. You may have actually been eating too little if exercising for 2 hours. It sounds like you need to talk to a Dr qualified in Bariatrics. Just because your sugar was normal does not mean you don't have something else going on. My blood sugar has always been normal but I have PCOS which makes it more difficult to lose weight. Hang in there!

    Today is the day

Are you still in the hospital? Have they confirmed that nothing is wrong and the pain is "normal"? Are you taking pain meds? Tell the RNs that you are in pain and maybe they can change your medication to something more effective. While you are sitting - rock back and forth to move the gas out. Ask for a heating pad (pack). I feel so bad that you're in such pain.
  19. Your pre-op diet and post-op diet will depend on your Bariatric Teams guidelines. They vary so much. I have no pre-op diet other than clear liquids day before surgery. My post-op plan has full liquids for 1 week then purees. Many other plans have longer liquid phases. Again - you need to check with your Program. How low is your BMI?

    Having Doubts

Happy but will they be healthy? Write a list of why you want the surgery and what you want to do once you've lost weight. Can you sustain the current diet without surgery? I know I won't myself so whatever I've lost will be found again soon if I don't go through with surgery. It's hard to be happy when your weight is making you unhealthy!

Are you drinking protein shakes? What stage are you on?

@@tanyarahmes Are you getting pain meds and anti-nausea meds? If not - ask for them. Walk as much as you can - that will help with the gas. It will all be worth it!

  24. @ I've never heard of this - is it something that is covered by your insurance? There are some older posts from folks that had this done - you may want to do a search and see how they are doing now.

@@FindingMyself13 That's great! The only one you hurt by not being honest in your psych eval is yourself!!! You are on the right path! I'm hoping for early September (if not late August). Good luck!
