    Lack of energy

@@traceygirl Try having small servings of protein every 3 hours - 5 to 6 times a day. That could be tuna, chicken salad, hummus, greek yogurt, baked fish, salmon, protein shake, cottage cheese, deli meat etc. Are you on soft foods or can you have anything? Be sure to drink fluids (wait the amount of time your plan suggests after meals). You may want to add some healthy fats (avocado) and carbs (fruits & veggies) to your diet. Check in with your Nutritionist for some guidance too.
  2. @@LaDivaDev Your body is getting rid of fluids - it's normal. Good luck.

    Getting back on track

@@littlerascaldwb Good for you! This may help. Let us know how you are doing!
  4. @@slc3568 Alot of people feel this way before surgery. You are experiencing withdrawal of nicotine and caffeine on top of the usual nerves of WLS. Think of all the things you want to do once you lose weight - remember the answers to "why bother?" when you start to have doubts and stay strong - you have less than a week - you can do this!
  5. @@Dub I second the Tumeric advise. Also - Tart Black Cherry Juice (come in pills too) has been known to work on inflammation. Do you wear a knee support band? That may help.

    Gout due to weight?

@@emme.vee Try taking some Tart Cherry tablets (or the liquid). That usually helps my SO. Also - celery seed (pills) and Tumeric help. I often have pain that I believe is Gout - it's horrible. My SO gets it frequently (especially if he's had beer) in his feet and knees.

    Not behaving myself...

^^^^^ This More people need to understand that the post op diet is for your safety and to reduce complications. It is dangerous to eat off plan during the healing stage. As @@suzzzzz said - you can cause life threatening complications. We are not trying to make you feel bad - we are just concerned for your (and others) health.
  8. @@Elen It sounds like you are in a great place mentally to be successful with WLS. You know what will work for you and what may cause self sabotage. Good luck on your journey!
  9. @@anewmee How much weight do you need to lose? I agree with #VSGAnn2014 - the balloon is another temporary fix - similar to taking a diet pill. If you are sure you want the balloon - get a second opinion. Good luck.

    Lack of energy

Do you drink the 60 gm shake all at once? You may need to have additional meals with protein. Your BP may be an issue too - I'd be sure to follow up with your surgeon on that.
  11. Boxed or canned broth is horrible unless you add spices. The bullion cubes are better in a pinch. Making your own - even if you use the boxed/can as a base is the way to go.

    Not behaving myself...

Write a list of all the things you want to do after losing weight. Keep it where you can read it when you're having cravings. Keep repeating to yourself why you need to stick to your plan. This is not only sabotaging your weight loss but it's very dangerous this early out. You could cause complications. Stay strong! I recommend therapy too.

    Lack of energy

I have read that you can only absorb 30 gms protein at a time. What do you eat daily? Are you taking Vitamins? How's your blood pressure?

    Trouble staying Hydrated

sugar free popsicles are great in this heat!
  15. That's scary. Hope you get some good info.
  16. I would ask your nutritionist and surgeon - they may change your diet.
  17. I second the therapy recommendation. Most of us have an eating disorder of some kind. I found therapy with a Bariatric experienced psychologist to help tremendously. Good luck!

    Extreme Fatigue

Any suggestions on the sugar free sports drink. Sent from my SM-T817V using the BariatricPal App Powerade Zero, Vitamin Water Zero don't have any sugars.

    BMI 31-32

Less than 5% of obese people who lose weight keep it off long term. WLS is a tool to be able to help you lose and maintain. This shouldn't be considered a diet - it's a life style change. Don't let people bring you down - with a 39 BMI you are borderline morbidly obese. This is a chronic condition and should be treated as any other disease. Good luck on your journey!

    Can't Get In Enough Protein

Set a timer. Whether hungry or not (likely you won't feel hungry) - you have to eat and drink. Take small sips constantly.
  21. KristenLe

    Mashed potatoes

Take tiny bites. If still making you sick - it may be that you can't tolerate the them yet.

Asking Dr for more pain meds?

Have you talked to your surgeon about the pain? Don't assume it's normal - call and make sure. Blood clots are a concern - especially if you're not moving much.
  23. Try infused water (lime & mint, strawberry & lemon, etc). Caffeine free tea is good too. Adding flavors (non caloric) is fine - you don't need to drink only plain water.
  24. It sounds as though it could be hormonal. Are you on any medications at all? Maybe they're not being absorbed. Have they done any blood work? Low potassium can cause anxiety. whey Protein has some benefits in reducing anxiety - try adding that to your diet. Hope you feel better!
