Rice (of any color) ???? is not "allowed" on my plan ever (along with Pasta and bread). I don't think I'll stick to the forever rule but will definitely wait several months out.

I finally received a date for my Pre-op Upper GI Series and EKG (done at same time) - then I can have my blood work and get my pre-op surgeon appt! My Program is great but apparently I am the first person to be ready for pre-op testing at their new location/center and there were some glitches in the ordering process. Hopefully all goes well and I can get surgery in September!

@@Heidijenn Deep breathe... Okay - so you know this is your only chance at losing weight and ultimately getting healthy. What else do you need to know? Yes - you have to drink fluids (you should be now - many people who haven't had WLS pass out from dehydration too!) Yes - you have to give up eating like crap BUT you don't need to permanently give up many foods (lobster can be a great source of protein)! and those that may be an issue may not even appeal to you after surgery. If having pizza whenever you want it outweighs losing weight and being healthy - then don't have surgery. But seriously think about all of these things you are "giving up" and then think about all the things you gain from surgery - most importantly your health! Write a list of all the things you will be able to do after weight loss and get that into your mind rather than all the sacrifices (which really think about it - they're not truly sacrifices). And I think you need a new therapist - she should be helping you to NOT obsess over this and be rational. She should also be determining if you're ready from a behavior health perspective! Good luck on your decision!

@@MCE1205 My plan suggests carbs from fruit and veggies. You could also add good fats and see if that helps. Also - give the vitamins some time to build up.

I have sleep apnea but had several surgeries before ever being diagnosed. If your surgeon doesn't even think you need a sleep study - you can relax and know you'll be OK. He would not take any chances! You are intubated and your breathing is closely monitored at all times during surgery and in recovery. Try not to worry! Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App

Weight lost has slowed..just hit 4 weeks..Is this normal?
KristenLe replied to Trulyabeautifulbeing's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
With going back to work - are you drinking enough water? I know it's easy to get busy and forget to drink. Although the "stall" is normal! Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App -

Feeling defeated....
KristenLe replied to Express09's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The scale can go up if you haven't pooped! Pay little attention to it fluctuating - as everyone said - it can vary throughout a day! My weight went up 3lbs while I was sleeping last night! Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App -
Six weeks post op only down 15 poubfs6
KristenLe replied to Mikibi77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What are you eating other than soup at lunch? I don't think 15 pounds is too bad but you definitely need a diet plan and make sure you are getting enough Protein and fluids. Do you have a nutritionist you can meet with? Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App -
Do they have proof of that initial call - I'd fight that! Can they show you where the requirements are documented - because my bcbs couldn't! I had to wait until surgeon submitted to hope I met requirements(which I was told I had a 6 month supervised diet requirement at first when I actually didn't)! I'd be furious and BCBS would hear about it! Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App

Losing too fast?
KristenLe replied to jessica_vsg's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
How much have you lost? They typically tell you the average loss (which I think is 50-60% of excess weight for sleeve) and that's 18-24 months. I think they often low ball it so you don't have unrealistic expectations. Have they indicated a concern at post op visits about losing too fast? I doubt you are done losing! Has he changed the meds or increased them to try and get it under control? How high is it? Be sure to take your pills daily, avoid salt/sodium (processed foods, frozen dinners, etc) and drink tons of Water - hopefully that will get you under control soon and he'll approve you! He's looking out for you - better to have to postpone surgery than have a heart attack/ stroke on the operating table. It's also dangerous to have high BP and be on blood thinners (which you need after surgery) - as you could have a bleed. My Dad had a hemorrhagic stroke from those two issues. Weight loss before surgery
KristenLe replied to Frenchie1977's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wasn't required to lose weight either. Maybe it depends on the patient's medical history and how prepared the Team feels we are. I couldn't lose weight - that's why I'm having surgery. I lost 3 lbs in my 3 month of nutrition visits. I'm not one who can lose but just doesn't maintain - I have a hard time losing in the first place. Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App -
That doesn't sound like enough calories and could be thee reason for slow weight loss or a stall! How much Protein are you getting? If you limit calories that much you will ruin your metabolism permanently. It's important to increase calories with healthy options. Your body is in starvation mode. Google recipes - there are alot online. Ricotta bake sounds good (I'm pre-op so waiting to try it). I also thought of doing a similar type bake but a buffalo chicken (kind of like the dip but pureed chicken). There's also a Mexican version. Experiment (and share the good ones!) ????

The orange/yellow poop could be gallbladder, liver or pancreas. I don't think (with all of the complications you've experienced already) that it's wise to guess what might be wrong. Wasn't it recommended that you have your gallbladder removed? This could definitely be caused from a gallbladder issue if a stone is blocking the bike ducts. It could also be infectious diarrhea. Don't wait to find out.

Please do not wait 5 days. Call your surgeon - they'll probably recommend you go to ER for an IV. Dehydration is dangerous.

I wonder if they're from high doses of antibiotics during surgery and post-op. I would think you're beyond that point to have another one though. Not a good side effect to have.
