How Far Out Can You Get A Leak?
KristenLe replied to jhansen71's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is there a reason you suspect a leak? It is unlikely you can have a test done and paid for just to ease your mind with no symptoms or problems. If you are following your surgeon's instructions and not going off the diet plan, following up with your surgeon when required and have no symptoms then I would not worry. -
How Far Out Can You Get A Leak?

No. This should not in anyway concern you. It is extremely rare and I'm sure there were circumstances that lead up to it. -
How Far Out Can You Get A Leak?

This case study was for a patient who had a band to sleeve revision. He has the band removed following weight gain and then had sleeve. It also states this case was very rare . -
Was wondering if everyone that has done the sleeve

I think they do a questionnaire type assessment but not sure. I dreaded the sleep study but actually like my CPAP (I have mild sleep apnea) now that I've gotten used to it. -

Call the insurance coordinator at your surgeon's office and ask if she can help you figure out detailed requirements. Some plans make you start over (with supervised diet) if you've gained at all. It all depends on your specific plan. -
You can do it! It's okay to do 1/2 decaf 1/2 caffeine the first day or so. Stay strong!

I think it's another one of those "depends on the patient and surgeon". I had one prior to my consult but I believe they would have required one if not. -
Mine was approved within a week. Good luck!

@@Hiraeth No worries on the chicken! You are doing great! Congrats!

@@pattyoj 60lbs in 2 months is not a slow loss - that's a pretty good rate. Get all your protein, water and vitamins - exercise and you should lose again soon. It's normal to have stalls.

Is this too much food?
KristenLe replied to SimplySheavon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh - yeah that's a problem. I believe my plan is 3-4ozs a meal at that stage. I don't know when it increases as they haven't given me beyond week 6 yet. -
Help. I can't stop eating
KristenLe replied to Debi287's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@Debi287 You could have an ulcer. Those symptoms are often confused with hunger pains. Definitely a call to the surgeon! Of course - therapy never hurts either. Hope you feel better! -

Try using baby utensils (if you haven't already) and put down your fork or spoon between bites. Chew well! -

Measure and stick to recommended portion sizes. Just because you can eat that much - you really shouldn't! Maybe eat more often. -
Don't guess - call your surgeon. Enjoy Chicago!

How to quit sugar ?!?!?!?
KristenLe replied to Armygalbonnie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Go Cold turkey - if you eat any - you'll just crave more. Also I highly recommend counseling. I went for emotional eating and found it extremely helpful. I agree with having alternatives always handy and removing the sweets from your house (or at least out of your vision). Try sugar free popsicles as an alternative. -
There are alot of foods you can try. Tuna, baked fish, salmon, cottage cheese, hummus, beans (add cheese), ricotta bake (recipe online), greek yogurt, home-made Protein Shakes (watch sugar), chicken salad..Experiment and see what works.

Are those bruises or skin discoloration?
-
How about one of those 350 calorie Ensure's? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App They typically have too much sugar. My plan suggests 5-6 meals a day (3 hours in between). If 2 of those meals are Protein shakes (i.e Premier or another low carb one) and the others are protein rich - you should be able to get enough protein and calories.
-
Eat more often if necessary. Have 2 Protein drinks. Higher calories doesn't mean crap. What are you eating now?

Step away from the scale! (Said in a deep Darth Vader like voice!) Protein, Water, Vitamins... it'll come off! Don't let the scale screw with your mind! Stay strong! You will not fail!
