Had my bypass on the 12th and went home on the 15th but was re-admitted on the 17 due to dehydration. Finally home and feeling better! I hope my surgeon will still advance my diet tomorrow at my post op appointment. This broth phase is killing me.. what's everyone eating??

My Kaiser pharmacy sells the Bariatric Advantage there. The have them in the back though not on shelf. Maybe give you pharmacy a call and ask if they carry them or if any other pharmacy does??

Thank you!@@tooka760 the preop is a final review of post-surgery do's and dont's. There's a document review & sign-off: They will also collect any remaining payments due to the surgeon & hospital. Optional "before" photos for your file. The entire session may be done as a big group w/everyone attending that's getting their surgery done within the next week. Total time was a little under 4 hours

Where did you take your classes? I will be doing mine in San marcos. It is not. Once you choose your class, it is 6 months once a week and if you are more than I think 10 minutes late you have to make up the class, also if you have more than 2 or 3 absences you have to start over. They want to see you are committed. I know there is a morning class not sure of the time, 4pm, and 7pm. Mine was Thursdays 4pm.

Oh good! I'm excited for the classes. I want and need all the information I can get. I hope the times are flexible though as I have twins babies at home and have to find a sitter so I can go to classes.Yeah I was super worried about it, and stressed myself out for a month.....all for nothing.
I will tell you I was not happy about the classes, and had an attitude. But they are more valuable than you will ever know!! they were an honest gift, I am so much more knowledgeable about my body and the process because of it and am so thankful for them. Yes it is a huge commitment, but I believe it is why I have been so successful.

Thank you! That would be awesome if the prior attempts weren't necessary. I have attempted just nothing documented besides weight watchersHi, I am 17 months post op, San Diego Kaiser. I am also the founder and admin of the San Diego Kaiser support group page, and often speak in the options classes.
Yes Kaiser does require the 6 months of options classes, during the classes they ask that you try and loose %10 of your body weight. The paperwork said they needed documentation of supervised weight loss program, but I was never asked to show prof.
Please feel free to ask me any questions and join the FB group. my email is, pinkpolkadot619_rny_kendra@yahoo.com

I have orientation scheduled for March 31st. I had orientation originally in 2012 but never went through with anything. When I spoke to Dr their she said that things have changed a lot since then so I was just wondering what has changed.

did you have to have 3 months prior supervised weight loss attempts documented? The 6month process feels long but let me tell you it is completely worth it!! The education and classes help a lot! Also get connected and build a good support.
-
Can anyone tell me about the whole kp process? Do they require 6 months of options classes now? And do they still require 3 months of prior supervised weight loss attempts?

How long did the whole process take? Does SD make you have any previous weight loss attempts documented?

My surgeon told me not to eat rice, Pasta, bread, or potatoes after surgery. He said it can stall weight loss or even make you gain. All surgeons are different though. Maybe ask your surgeon what he/she recommends. Did he give you a list of foods that are allowed?
