  1. It could be a couple of different things. I burped A LOT the first few days after surgery. There was gas in me that needed to come out, and that's how it chose to come.

Now that I'm a few weeks out and eating real food, I still burp sometimes. It's usually an indicator that I'm eating too fast or too much. Sometimes it's a weird hiccup instead. I've gotten them far less since I slowed down my eating drastically.

Your new stomach is adjusting, and your body is adjusting to it. Gurgles, burps, and hiccups are all going to be normal.

  2. It is physically impossible not to lose weight after having this surgery. You simply can't eat enough to sustain your weight, so it will come off.

Be patient, follow your plan. Your body has been through significant trauma and on top of that has gone into shock because it thinks it's being starved. Give your body time to heal and catch up.

  3. My first thought is - you're allowed toast?? I have some more time before that happens for me. :)

You're not supposed to drink when you eat, ever. The reason is because the Water will flush the food out of your stomach faster making you eat more and get hungry sooner. If you're eating something dry, my nutritionist has sad that a sip of water would be okay to get it down, but that's it. It's part of this lifestyle change to help us lose the weight and then not regain it.

  4. I had to watch a video online or attend a seminar at my bariatric center (I opted for the video). And then I watched every youtube video I could find of folks talking about the gastric sleeve (the folks who had it, not the doctors talking about it). I found blogs to read. I talked to people who had it. And then I found forums. This site was invaluable to me as I researched the procedures, especially since I wasn't sure at first which procedure I wanted.

Welcome! And good luck as you make your decision!

  5. You will be missed. I'm a newbie (3 weeks out), but you and all of the vets have been absolutely invaluable to me as I started this journey, and as I continue to progress.

But you gotta do what's best for you. <3

  6. Yes....It is A bit crazy my mind wants me to eat more and I feel like I should but I just can't it is a weird feeling. I made a piece of fish for dinner I could only eat 3 small fork full... I need to ask my doctor if it is normal as soon as I start eating I get gas gain and my stomach makes weird noises. I burp a lot. I am not sure if that is a normal thing....It is a sharp stabbing pain in my upper chest...

It sounds like you're eating too fast. Take more time between bites and see if that helps with that pain.

  7. they told me today i can start puree food...That seems kind of odd is it normal to start puree food so early? Anyone have any suggestions as to what they ate?

A lot of that hunger pain probably is acid. If you're already on a PPI, try Tums when you feel it. I promise it will help.

As far as pureed foods go, I didn't have a puree stage, but I did have some thicker Soups like Tomato bisque or broccoli cheese or potato (I would puree those last two).

  8. I know this is a person question but can i ask what your bmi was? Mine is 40.3. I feel like i should gain some more weight. I know they put you on a liquid diet for preop and that will make me lose weight and be under the required bmi the day of surgery.

I was at 41.6 I think. But I also made a conscious effort to gain about 10 pounds before my consultation to ensure I was over that line. They used the weight from my first appointment.

  9. I got most of my calories in the first week from diluted fruit juice and skim milk. But I was still only averaging around 200 calories per day until I was able to add thicker/pureed Soups.< /p>

If you could have skim milk could you not have Premier Protein? It is about the same consistency and has much more Protein than milk.

Oh, yes I could. I was just struggling with the taste at the time and opted to get my Protein through small amounts of Isopure and GENEPRO in broth.

  10. Those were the same requirements I had, though my surgeon also required an endoscopy.

My first appointment with the surgeon was 4/28, did the psych and nutritionist visits on 5/2 and was all but cleared for surgery at that point. Endoscopy was scheduled for 6/6 (my surgeon only does them one Monday per month), and I was approved by insurance on 6/7. Pre-op appointments on 6/9 and surgery was 6/15.
